Says she, thought I would start a new thread. After yesterday's triumph, I ended up eating rubbish yesterday (lack of time and planning) and weight out for a Toby (bar snacks) last night to get my Dad out of the house to give DS1 space. Weigh 9st2 this morning, but confident that I didn't eat the 8,000 calories needed to gain over 2 pounds. Aim for the end of October is 8st13.5 (rather than .75 which was my new low yesterday), the sky is the limit

Hello everyone!
A looong day here, work, walk in the rain, I hit 10000 steps by midday.
B: toast, banana and tea
L: cinnamon roll from IKEA (too tired to eat)
D: pasta with steak tagliatta and salad

Hangoverstruggles · 28/10/2020 22:14

Evening all, been a bit quiet as off work this week for half term with the kids.

Weighed this morning 9st 11.75. Was terrified to get on the scales after a big Chinese on Saturday night and enjoying treats every day this week (pain aux chocolate, chocolate etc) so really surprised to find I'm only 0.75lb above my lowest low. I'd say I've averaged 1800 cals each day, maybe more. Hope it doesn't catch up with me!

@Monochrome4 I hear you re exercise with little ones! I managed a 30 min YouTube class (Sydney Cummings) and went to my usual Tuesday evening hiit class (also 30 mins of work) but day to day, despite feeling very busy, I'm not moving a lot at all.

Play cafe planned tomorrow so there will be cake, plus meal out planned with DH tmw night so lots more calories than usual this week. Let's see what the scales say come Monday morning 😬

@IDontMindMarmite are you back on track after your hols? I'd say if you've been thinking about choccie bics for 2 weeks, and maintaining your target, have whichever variety you like as it'll make no difference! Doubt a whole packet would make any difference as a one off 🍪🍪🍪

Ooh you cheeky enabler! Hehe. I'm going to have to buy some when I hit the supermarket this weekend. I am having take away and a restaurant meal this weekend.

I am pretty much on track, 2lbs off my lowest which is bugging the crap out of me even though it's still lower than imagined I'd achieve when I started. Isn't it nice that you've relaxed some and have basically maintained!

TheHoneyBadger · 29/10/2020 08:02

Apparently 2.4lbs up since yesterday. Bored of this nonsense.

IDontMindMarmite · 29/10/2020 08:11

Fluctuations like that are frustrating. Are you sure it's helpful to weigh daily badger?

Octopus37 · 29/10/2020 08:40

Chunkyrun, I love Foxes biscuits, those ones sound amazing. HoneyBadger, well done on managing to get your Son less picky, glad you are going to be able to see your parents this week. Hope you are feeling a bit rested with it being half term. 9st2.25 this morning, I'm the first to admit that I have been comfort eating, eating the wrong things that make me hungry, eg stupid amounts of chocolate instead of a meal, then I'm ravenous. Need to reign it in, have better intentions today.

Morning everyone!
@TheHoneyBadger if the fluctuations frustrate you try weighing up once a week.
Home day today, it's raining here have to clean the bathroom and make space in the garage as I'm getting a new freezer tomorrow. Way too excited about this.
Making a ridiculous big list of things I want to buy/cook to fill it. There is Xmas stuff on that list Halo
B: toast and tea
L: veggie soup
D: something with turkey mince that I have to use up

TheHoneyBadger · 29/10/2020 09:34

Thanks Octopus. My sister is overseas currently somewhere she can't travel back and forth from because commercial flights are banned for covid currently and I think my parents are probably feeling quite lonely. Pre-covid my son would sleep at theirs on a Friday night and often pop round if he was playing at that end of the village and we'd generally go for sunday lunch every couple of weeks so it's a big difference.

I feel that weighing once a week would be worse lala because I could end up looking like I've put on 3lbs when in fact for most of the week I was down and only on that one day I weighed was it up itms.

The fluctuations don't bother me usually and I know they're part of my journey and all the way through I've had them and can look back on the graphs and see that the trend line is down despite them. They're frustrating me at the minute because I've been fluctuating round the same point for nearly two months despite being a lot more active etc. I'll stay lower for a while and think I've cracked the plateau and then poof magically be back up again.

I've been to the gym twice already this week however I have been letting myself drink beer for half term which may be offsetting the extra exercise.

Not looking for solutions just having a moan. Off to yoga and gym this morning. So better get on.

And yay for a new freezer. I only have the freezer section of a big fridge freezer and no space for another one so I have to be really careful when ordering groceries and would be excited too.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 29/10/2020 10:12

Hello all! I am negative for C-19but still have to restrict. Total pain I had great exercise plans for the week off. However I have been doing a daily 15 cardio dance and a 15 min yoga/pilates. Not brilliant but something and I find them really worthwhile so might add one in to my usual week. I did do laps of my road in the dark the night before last when no one about. Can't do much more. Unfortunately all I wanted to do was eat those first days, it's like a compulsion not even a craving, it's a weird one but I'll get back to it. Good to see you all well.

IDontMindMarmite · 29/10/2020 10:35

I would be excited about a new freezer too Grin

Last day of self-isolation today!

Hangoverstruggles · 29/10/2020 10:41

@IDontMindMarmite maybe I spoke too soon, 1lb up this morning 😬

Never mind. Like you I'm lighter than I ever set out to be so happy to hover around this weight, would just rather be closer to me lowest!

Enjoy your biscuits and your meals out - totally deserved.

@Octopus37 that's been my downfall. Eating chocolate but then still needing a proper meal later obviously so ending up eating way more than I set out to.

My plan is to be relaxed this week, strict next week and then it's ds birthday week so will be having takeaway, cake and various small gatherings!

Keep going everyone.

TheHoneyBadger · 29/10/2020 19:09

More than 10,000 steps, over an hour solid of cardio and peak plus other shorter bursts and 2300cals burned already. Have to keep reminding myself this is all good even if the scales aren't responding.

Nice to see parents and lovely to see ds and my dad enjoying each other. Think they definitely miss each other and my dad is struggling not seeing us. Unless schools go online it will likely be Christmas before we can be together in person again. Strange times.

Octopus37 · 29/10/2020 21:42

Heygirl, glad your result was negative. Totally get the compulsion to eat thing, but sure you will get back on track. HoneyBadger, glad your Son and Dad enjoyed spending time together, such wierd times

9st2.5 this morning, thought I had done marginally better yesterday but obviously not. Really need to be more mindful. Just feel low at the moment tbh, Dad going into this place on Tuesday, dont know how its going to work out, feel guilty, have been on another period all week, dont know whats going on there, not very motivated, two of DH's elderly friends (one of whom we though was going to go in August) have got covid, luckily they are so far (a week in) doing ok, ie not needing to go into hospital, plodding on. Sorry for brain dump

Stayed the same today. Good luck for the weekend everybody. Always the hardest time to stay even within sight of the track for me...

SistemaAddict · 30/10/2020 13:01

I've given up until Sunday seeing as it's Halloween. I'm going back to 16:8 from Sunday.

TheHoneyBadger · 30/10/2020 14:26

Just back from my fourth trip to the gym this week. My glutes are a little sore!

My body isn't changing at the minute but my heart is responding really well so my cardio vascular health is improving.

Woo! Look at you with your good exercise habits! Very impressed, well done.

And here I am coming on the thread to say that I found these chocolate malteser biscuits for 56 cals a piece! Blush
Cured my craving for choccie biscuits anyway. Seems by the reviews that people are having strong negative feelings about them, but i'm more than happy with them! Funny.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 30/10/2020 15:13

Thanks octopus, I will get back and so will you, we have to be kind and patient with ourselves too. Life is challenging!! I decided to go out for my walk there as I could do so without going near residential areas etc. Met two people that were maybe 10m away so I've made peace with that. I needed to move and get fresh air, helps so much.
Honeybadger I'd love some info on the cardiovascular health, my resting HR is around 55, what else should I be looking at?

B: 2 weetabix and a banana
L: chicken stir fry, no noodles, grapes, mandarin and granola with Greek yoghurt. Full to the brim now, an hour and a half later but at time wanted to just keep eating.
D: TBC

I think I'm going to eat as much as I want but reach for fruit especially and get back on it slowly.

hangoverstruggles · 30/10/2020 20:44

Great effort @TheHoneyBadger!

@Heygirlheyboy hope you feel better for the little bit of freedom! Sounds like a healthy day. You're right about being kind & patient.

I've seriously gone downhill... delicious chocolate cake given to us today and I've had about 3 pieces, after a big meal out last night! I've lost all self control.

I'm also doing that thing where you think 'well I may as well fuck it off now and start again xyz' 🙄 got my parents visiting next weekend for lunch, then ds birthday in a couple of weeks and because of the rule of 6 having 2 small celebrations so both sets of his grandparents can visit meaning double cake & dessert! I need to change my mindset to be good between social events to offset rather than sabotage!

@IDontMindMarmite those biscuits look good to me! Hope they scratched the chocolate biscuit itch 😊

IDontMindMarmite · 30/10/2020 21:13

Having lots of social events is when it's really hard to stay on track. I'm not sure how i'll manage when socialising is back to normal.

Monochrome4 · 30/10/2020 23:12

Evening all. Just checking in. Diet not going great this week. I haven't been able to do any exercise for a whole week now as I've had the kids for half term and husband was working all last weekend. My step counter was right down too. With a 3-year-old it's possible to walk round the park for over an hour and rack up less than 1000 steps.

Interestingly, the first couple of days I felt noticeably less hungry. After that I've felt more exhausted and lower on energy and I've really struggled not to reach for the snacks. It's emotionally wearing having the kids 24/7. Or at least the 6-year-old. The 3yo is easy.

Hoping to finally get some exercise tomorrow. Diet is going to be very challenging with kids having friends for Halloween and all of us having pizza. I'll try my best.

TheHoneyBadger · 30/10/2020 23:54

Heygirl I'm looking at my heart rate when exercising and seeing eg that an activity and pace that used to see my heart rate in peak zone now only sees me in cardio zone or that where it used to take an age to get my heart rate down after being in peak zone for a while it now drops much faster. Also seeing that I can keep going for longer in a higher rate heart zone whereas before I'd really struggle.

I exercise around my heart rate and trying to reach a certain level and then keep going or adjust pace or whatever to stay in that zone or go up or down. Not good at explaining sorry. Mainly I know that eg today doing the same time and intensity on the treadmill saw a way lower heart rate than even a week ago and slowing down at the end to cool down saw my heart rate steadily drop rather than there being a big lag before it slowed.

I also don't feel like I'm going to die as soon as I used to when my heart rate is up so my body must be maintaining oxygenation of cells despite intensity for longer than it was. Think that's a key measure of cv health. I'm still hugely unfit mind

TheHoneyBadger · 30/10/2020 23:56

Enjoy mono. I'm off the rails diet wise for the last couple of days. A combo of disheartened by the scales and ravenous from exercise. Next week is a new week and back to work and routines.

Octopus37 · 31/10/2020 07:44

Heygirl, you are right about being kind and patient. Today I just feel cross with myself for being lazy, greedy, etc, 9st2.75 this morning, heaviest I've been for a while but know I deserve it. Never mind, October has been a truly hard month. Off to start a new thread. Happy Halloween all
