So bloody, fucking fed up of myself. I lose a stone then revert back to being a lazy, greedy pig and end up putting even more back on. I feel horrendous.

Have just ordered some new weighing scales, they come tomorrow. I have to stick to this!!! It’s only going to get worse & before I know it I’ll be middle aged and even more obese with little chance of turning back!

Just ranting!! Anyone want to join who is a real human who struggles?! I need people to lose weight & laugh with... Grin

BullshitVivienne · 05/08/2020 07:09

I think the thing I've battled with mentally when losing weight is that I can never go back to my old way of eating. Whatever I'm doing to lose weight has to be something I do forever. I'm still angry about that, but so far intermittent fasting is working really well for me and it feels sustainable.

sorrall · 05/08/2020 07:24

Morning to you all.

Honestly, I don't know how I'm going to do this but I know I must.

Could someone please explain what Intermittent fasting is and also what blood sugar diet is. Sorry if I'm being a bit thick.

I'm getting on the scales in a bit, I just need to pluck up some courage.

If anyone is interested, I will be watching Lose a stone in 21 days with Michael Mosley tonight. It is on channel 4 at 9pm.

@Bercows how do you manage to drink loads of water. I tried this a few weeks ago and honestly, I was in the loo every 15 minutes and couldn't leave the house 🤣. I really want to adopt the drinking water habit.

I have an old Fitbit somewhere which I never use, I'm going to go and look for it now.

Will report back with my starting weight.

Good luck all.

Eatyourbanana · 05/08/2020 07:42

‘I'm still angry about that‘
@BullshitVivienne I can totally relate to this feeling, it is a life style change, forever which really pisses me off too.

Morning! @sorrall. Good luck today! I will also report back with weight so we have a starting point... I’m no diet pro so will leave someone else to come alone & help you there.

I have decided to do OMAD, it’s pretty brutal but I’ve had the best success with it in the past and it’s non complicated.

Good luck today all!

I have been trying to lose weight for years. Spent most of this year losing and gaining the same 4 lbs. joined Rh fitness and have lost 6 lbs in six weeks without it feeling like any sort of effort

sorrall · 05/08/2020 07:47

@Eatyourbanana I like the idea of OMAD. What time of day will you be eating?

Eatyourbanana · 05/08/2020 08:47

@sorrall dinner time. I did lose 2 stone this way before, put it all on again & more though!

OP posts:
sorrall · 05/08/2020 08:49

@Eatyourbanana yes I'm going to try OMAD too. So do you just drink water all day or is tea and coffee allowed?

Eatyourbanana · 05/08/2020 09:14

Oh good luck @sorrall! Yes I have tea & coffee... & Coke Zero sometimes as well! Makes you feel fake full 😂

SistemaAddict · 05/08/2020 09:17

@sorrall I get thirsty and don't drink anything else bar two cups of tea with breakfast. I take painkillers 4 times a day and drink a glass of water with those which helps.

Intermittent fasting is where you restrict your eating to certain days or times. I do a rough 16:8 so I don't eat for 16 hours a day and have all my meals within the 8 hour window. Mine's more like 15:9 though. The 5:2 is different and I'm not familiar with that. Something like eating normally for 5 days then restricting calories for the other 2. I've found the 16:8 easy to do apart from having to ignore hunger in the evening. The idea is that your calorie intake is naturally restricted by restricting the hours where you can eat. To me it's just like more traditional times where no one snacked and you ate 3 meals a day. I also calorie count but many people don't and lose weight more slowly.

There's no way I could do OMAD. That's going to cause huge insulin spikes surely?

The having to change things forever is depressing I agree but for me it's about a healthy average so it's possible to indulge sometimes as long as your overall diet is healthy and you are physically active.

Cheesewine · 05/08/2020 09:20

@sorral intermittent fasting is only eating between certain hours of the day . So you could eat between 12 and 6 or 4 and 8 or whatever suits u. The idea is that you don't eat outside this window. OMAD is one big meal a day and that's you done. It sounds brutal but your body gets used to it quickly and you stop being hungry outside these times. Definitely dust off the Fitbit.

sorrall · 05/08/2020 09:36

Fuck I've just weighed in at
11st 13.5lbs.

Fuck

PaperPlane · 05/08/2020 09:37

Im trying to lose weight too. All my clothes are becoming tight which is very depressing.
I’m really inspired by my sister in law who has lost 40lbs by just giving up all her unhealthy snacking and takeaways and walking every day. She eats normal meals and eats fruit for snacks. She’ll have the occasional dessert as her dd loves baking but usually her food is very healthy and normal.
She hasn’t cut out any food group.

I find comfort in her approach as it seems so straightforward but I’m going to combine that with intermittent fasting.

GoodMorningSunshine · 05/08/2020 09:44

This is me.

All the time!

I also start on many of these threads and never come back.

Loose a stone, regain it.

Loose it again the next year. Regain it!

Awful and need it to stop! Have around 2stone to loose to be a healthy weight that suits me. X

MegzJ · 05/08/2020 09:49

Oh I know the feeling totally! Don't worry, it's not just you x

sorrall · 05/08/2020 09:53

@GoodMorningSunshine I'm fed up with it too. I drop a few pounds then just regain them.

I hate counting calories and having three small meals a day, I constantly feel hungry and never satisfied after eating. This time I am doing one meal a day and at least I will feel really full and not hungry. I can't cope going to bed hungry, it makes me unable to sleep and I just get up and eat.

I've already decided on tonight's dinner! Jacket spud with a little cheese and loads of salad. I can't wait 😃

I've dusted off my Fitbit and it's charging now.

GoodMorningSunshine · 05/08/2020 10:21

Right ladies, I’m here with you. Your here with me. But I have ONE confession to make....

We are going to either Nandos it Five Guys tonight 🙈

So today I’ll be sponsored by fluids and maybe a rice cake or two!

GoodMorningSunshine · 05/08/2020 10:21

Sorry I should check my spelling! Nandos ‘or’ Five Guys.

unstableunicorn · 05/08/2020 10:32

Another fed up one here. I finally plucked up the courage to weigh myself and I'm 13st, talk about a wake up call Shock
I'm feeling so discouraged, I have a sweet tooth but eat pretty healthy, no alcohol, fizzy drinks, crisps, only the odd rare takeaway, so I think my problem is snacking and portion size which is a struggle because I'm ALWAYS hungry Blush

Eatyourbanana · 05/08/2020 11:36

Welcome everyone! Made it to the park... now just have to resist the kids lunch 😭

I just can’t do it

I would strongly urge you to read Delay don't deny and The Obesity Code. You can get them from Amazon (or search on Google there are free pdf versions of them). If You have yoyo dieted in the past, or tried and failed, they will really help you.

For me, understanding the science behind IF and what's going on with my body has really helped. I'm 18 days in and 9lbs down and I don't feel deprived at all - in fact, I'm actually struggling to get enough calories in to keep my gym coach happy.

majesticallyawkward · 05/08/2020 12:48

So I weighed today, as noom says to weigh yourself every day and since I started dieting on Monday I've GAINED 4 1/2 LBS!!!

What the actual shit?

How have I gained more in 3 days of dieting than in the entirety of my lockdown snacking?!

Eatyourbanana · 05/08/2020 12:49

Thanks @Farcry66 I’ll look into that, sounds good.

@majesticallyawkward what the hell?! How has that happened? Confused

OP posts:
Nuffaluff · 05/08/2020 14:24

@majesticallyawkward
Is it just before your period? Or maybe around ovulation? Our weight goes up at these times - I think I remember hearing it was something to do with water retention.
I had a look at Noom, because I’ve never heard of it. It’s so expensive! I guess it’s worth it if it works though, so I’ll be very interested to hear how you get on.
I have done well so far today. I’ve been for a run. Now my dodgy foot really hurts! Went to a cafe with my kids (eat out to help out). I just had an americano while they stuffed their faces with cake.
I would polish my 😇, but I hate it when people talk about being ‘good’ or being ‘bad’ when it comes to eating.

Nuffaluff · 05/08/2020 14:26

@Eatyourbanana
They look good. I would have to have a couple if it was me.
@Farcry66 9lb is amazing! And I love the idea of not feeling deprived.
