Who's in? I'm a mess.

I need a lot of work 😁

I'm going to try and ditch quite a few pounds and make myself more lovely again. I need a complete overhaul. Starting tomorrow obviously!

Something like over 80% of weight loss is down to what you eat rather than exercise. Moderate exercise is good for you though so perhaps take advantage of the warm weather and go for a short walk?

If you want to lose weight, you can do it and you'll almost certainly feel happier for it.

wizzler · 16/06/2020 23:34

Tracey the best thing to do is start to do something about it. Once you've made the first small changes you'll feel more positive and then it starts to become easier.

I found in the first week it helped if I pampered myself a bit too.. better skincare, looked after my nails... it all helped me to be a bit more positive

Bramblebear92 · 17/06/2020 01:06

Mind if I join. I got on the scale yesterday and completedly horrified myself. I lost 5 stone 3 years ago and I've managed to gain three back (more than a stone during lockdown.) I swore I would never get back to this weight. Sad

Today has been my first healthy day (no naughty snacks.) I moved back to my parents house for some of lockdown and whilst it's boosted my mental wellbeing, it's also boosted my waist line. I normally have a small waist and I actually have love handles now Shock

Onwards and downwards is the only way to go I guess!

Doilooklikeatourist · 17/06/2020 08:20

Today is my big day out ... The Tesco Shop ..
Will wear a dress , have proper shoes on , make up and hair styled
Hopefully the weather will be nice enough to accessorise with sunglasses 👍

I'm starting with 5 rules
1 drink lots of water
2 no alcohol on weekdays
3 moisturise after the shower
4 nails must be shaped , filed and buffed
5 eat more fruit and veg and less starchy carbs

I've also fake tanned my legs , Just need to pedicure my toe nails today at some stage

Another Princess rule I've made up is to always make sure our bedroom is tidy , clean sheets ( not every day though , I don't have staff ! ) windows open in the day to get some fresh air in , need to tidy my dressing table and have a Henry hoover round .
One day , I'll declutter the chest of drawers .....

coffeandcake30 · 17/06/2020 08:52

@Doilooklikeatourist the bedroom idea is good!! I will start this too!!

Well I've started the day with a 2.5 mile run and 1200calories of good planned for the day! Now to stick to it!

randomer · 17/06/2020 09:02

Good luck to all but do you ever consider why you gained weight?

Mine is all connected in with my mother and th weight gain is some sort of depression/rebellion. Of course, all it achieves is I end up a fat mess, so not much of a rebellion.

Second wave of weight gain is caused by on/off diet clubs for many a long year.
Third wave is lockdown thinking. Its awful and the only thing I can control is the packet of Pringles and litre of wine I'm going o shove down.

ThornsInMySides · 17/06/2020 09:04

Morning and hello to the newcomers.

In the shower this morning I shaved, exfoliated, face and hair mask. Then, full body moisturise and make up. I'm having to wear my hair up as it won't hold a style as it's in need of a good cut but am working on lots of conditioner.

Just about to take the dog for a walk. I will be painting my nails once I'm back.

Are any of you weighing in on Monday, this will be my weigh day and am hoping for a loss. I have been very good and have not eaten any junk, it's still early days though.

Id like to figure this out too. I wonder if I'm not vain enough?

Doilooklikeatourist · 17/06/2020 09:19

@tracey47 I'd start by writing down everything I eat , and I mean everything either online ( MyFitnessPal is free ) or in a note pad
You will be able to analyse what needs to change when it's there in front of you
Also , just try and get out for a walk , even if it's just a 5 minutes there and 5 minutes back ( I live rurally , and I know I'm lucky to be able to get out easily ... even if we have no pavements ! )

ThornsInMySides · 17/06/2020 09:35

@Doilooklikeatourist since I started dieting on Monday, I have entered everything that I have consumed, including drinks, into my Fitbit app. It is such an eye opener and I really can see how I got so fat. I've had to drastically cut down. It's quite shocking the calorie content of junk food.

Like you, I live rurally with no pavements and I consider myself really lucky that I can just go out and walk so I'm now walking the dog twice a day. My dh was the dog walker. Not looking forward to the mud in the winter though.

@ThornsInMySides I’ll join you on the Monday weigh in although I’ll be pre menstrual then so may also do Sat morn to get a feel on the overall trend and whether I’m doing this week is having any impact

My fear is that having been gaining for the best part of a year and accelerated in the past 3 months, am I likely to plateau first before losing? I desperately hope not but anything’s better than gain.

ThornsInMySides · 17/06/2020 09:52

@Youngatheart00 even if you stay the same weight that is loads better than gaining. At least you have got a plan now.

randomer · 17/06/2020 09:54

Vanity is part of it and my heart thumping like mad after a 10 minute walk.

Doilooklikeatourist · 17/06/2020 10:01

@ThornsInMySides , nothing wrong with the weather , it's the wrong clothing
How about something like this , with coordinating wellies ?
I found it on eBay , but can't get the link to work
I think it would suit a princess , especially in regal purple

ThornsInMySides · 17/06/2020 10:04

@Doilooklikeatourist yes yes yes! My crown will fit nicely on top.

Thank you all for being so kind and all the advice . Ok I have downloaded the app and will log everything as suggested . Carbs are my downfall I eat far too many , rice pasta bread potatoes, you name it I shovel it in !! It says I can eat 1200 calories a day to get a small but steady weight loss each week .. I just need to figure out how to balance protein/ carbs etc on each meal and cut the portion size .. thank you all again I do feel a little more positive after reading these messages this morning and am determined to go for a walk . Yesterday I didn’t even brush my teeth or have a wash until 3pm - vile I know but that’s how I felt and that’s why I reached out . Thank you all again xx

Sweetener12 · 17/06/2020 10:20

I'm with you! The only motivation I have is to make myself thinner in pictures via photodiva and keep them with me to keep my mouth shut when I see a piece of cake!

SistemaAddict · 17/06/2020 10:33

Do you all have official fitbits? I'm considering getting one.

Youngatheart00 · 17/06/2020 10:57

@Bercows no, I just use my iPhone which has a step counter and strava for my jogs/ runs

randomer · 17/06/2020 11:00

Aw tracey you sound really low. How about contacting your doctor?

SistemaAddict · 17/06/2020 11:03

I've just ordered my favourite perfume as a birthday present to myself. It's coming from the States though so won't be here until next month. It's one that was discontinued but it's now back. I just hope it smells the same!

ThornsInMySides · 17/06/2020 11:04

@Bercows yes I have an official Fitbit. It's a few years old now, I think it's called Alta, it's nice and slim. I love the way that it enables me to get text/call notifications on the Fitbit screen from my mobile. They actually do loads if you use them properly. Before I only really looked at my step count but now I'm adding exercise, food and water on the app.

OP posts:
ThornsInMySides · 17/06/2020 11:04

@Bercows which perfume is it?

Kljnmw3459 · 17/06/2020 11:05

So far today I've had half a frankfurter and an oreo. Really need to make healthier choices!

OrlandoInTheWilderness · 17/06/2020 11:09

Can I join? I'm a month in - the day after my 36th birthday stepped on the scales to see a horrible 20st2. Fuck that!!
I'm using my fitness pal app and sticking to 1200 cals a day. I'm now on week 8 of c25k. I gave up alcohol (4wks on Friday!) and sugar. And I've lost...1stone 2lb!!!! Now 19stone.

Feel so much better.
