Who's in? I'm a mess.

I need a lot of work 😁

I'm going to try and ditch quite a few pounds and make myself more lovely again. I need a complete overhaul. Starting tomorrow obviously!

I think I fast by default because I don't tend to eat between dinner and lunch the next day - sometimes only eat dinner each day - and I'm not a snacker. My body is pretty used to it, and I've never been a regular breakfast eater. It used to drive my mother mad! (One of my children is an excellent eater, not at all fussy, eats almost everything put in front of her, but eats very little at breakfast time, whereas another is a hugely fussy eater, will often refuse dinner altogether, but eats enormous breakfasts. So interesting to see appetite hardwired like this.)

overweightcat · 29/06/2020 13:23

@wowfudge sorry if I missed this but are you using MFP at all? I found once I made myself log EVERYTHING I ate and saw the calories stacking up I quickly started avoiding the snack cupboard.
I still have the odd bad day especially when AF arrives but I don't let it affect my week I just try and get back on it ASAP.

I also remind myself that if I'm only allowing myself to have 1200cals a day they should be nutritious to get the most out of it and not junk that will give me a sugar rush and I'll end up feeling crap after leading back to the cycle of wanting to snack more. Like everyone though there's good days and bad days.

How's everyone doing today? This rainy weather is making me want to nap.

SistemaAddict · 29/06/2020 14:34

I could do with a nap. Dd2 and I have made cake, bread, and pancakes today.

Courtney10891 · 29/06/2020 14:42

Hey everybody,
Managed to lose 3lbs this week! So happy about it! I have found making sure I drink my 2 litres every day helps Aswell as using MyFitnessPal. I find it easier to be good when the weather is not as nice. Whenever the sun is out I just want ciders and rubbish food really. Really hoping to lose another lb or 2 this week x

SistemaAddict · 29/06/2020 16:44

I WANT PIZZA AND CHIPS!!!

I think I'm due on as I ache so much and am very tired. I have 758 left today so I could I guess.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 29/06/2020 16:50

I'm 10.5lbs down now and I'm feeling good, no wobbles so far (it's only been 3 weeks so give it time!)

Water deffo helps I think, 3ltrs per day and I cold infuse peppermint tea or something similar.
My digestion seems to have got used to this way of eating so I've ditched the daily movicol before bed Blush

I'm still avoiding alcohol and sweets and puddings for now until I have a bit more off, it's a slippery slope for me if I add a pudding into my calories I know me, I'll start eating 1200 cals of sweets and nothing else. Hmm

Lovely big tuna and boiled egg salad for dinner today, I grabbed a noodle pot for lunch as I was working.

SistemaAddict · 29/06/2020 18:44

The pizza wasn't a good idea at all. My stomach objects. Waitrose delivery tomorrow full of lovely healthy things. I had to throw away so much food from the fridge because it got warm. The meal didn't help my hunger headache either. I have pre-period legs and feel like I've done a thousand step ups.
This weather is awful. I just want to go to bed!

SistemaAddict · 29/06/2020 18:45

Congratulations to the losers btw! And thanks for the belated bday wishes Smile I did enjoy the chocolates thank you.

SistemaAddict · 29/06/2020 22:52

Today has been a fail but I still ate far, far less than on a normal day before I started being healthier. I've done no exercise today apart from a little dancing as I made the dc pancakes. Ah well, tomorrow is another day and I still didn't eat after dinner which is my number one rule. 16 flights of stairs which is good I suppose. Night all, here's to a more energetic day tomorrow and better eating from me.

Youngatheart00 · 30/06/2020 10:32

Don’t be hard on yourself @Bercows you’re doing very well, and we all have to contend with the impact of our hormones.

I need to shift up a gear on effort. After last week was largely a failure due to period, and a boozy weekend, I had a healthy day yesterday but weighed myself this morning and I’m back to 13.3 😫 so a complete plateau over a 2 week period.

In some ways I’m happy to have maintained, given the pretty consistent weight gain over the past 6 months, but also frustrated that my willpower and efforts haven’t been better. Need to get back to the running this week and get my step count up in between work meetings. I spend FAR too much time on my arse staring at screens.

UnicornAndSparkles · 30/06/2020 13:27

Don't be hard on yourselves ladies, this is tough! Especially in the current circs with lockdown and everything that comes with it.

Weigh in day for me today. Only half a pound down since last week tuesday. Oh well, as long as I'm not gaining I guess that's ok. I did have a sushi takeaway and a fair bit of wine last week. Plus on saturday I didn't track my calories. Onwards and upwards!

SistemaAddict · 30/06/2020 18:25

Today has been a weird day due to phone meetings and I've missed lunch and dinner. I've done no exercise either except all the trips upstairs. Must try harder!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 30/06/2020 19:28

I've had AF sneak up a few days early, I'm expecting a gain tomorrow due to bloat and rage Hmm
I tried the No Bull 'steak' burgers tonight in a bun with a cheese slice and lots of salad and a roasted mushroom. Coffee yoghurt for after it was lovely!

Not related to the thread but we've had some wonderful news today - NHS has made a deal to give everyone eligible some crucial CF modulator drugs. This could be life changing for us. Grin

SistemaAddict · 30/06/2020 22:47

That's great news @TitsalinaBumSquash!

I never got round to dinner. I ate about 6 lentil chips AFTER 6PM😱😱😱😱 I feel stupidly bad that I broke my own rule. I have a full food shop in the house now though and tomorrow is going to be much better. Homemade toast and tea for breakfast, Boursin cheese and crackers, and a bowl of strawberries and raspberries for lunch, and tofu stir fry for dinner. I've not drunk much today or yesterday compared to normal so I definitely need to boost that back to normal levels. I drink loads normally.
My clothes are definitely looser. I'm less bloated. And feel better about myself. I'm very grateful for this thread to help keep me on task.

SistemaAddict · 01/07/2020 08:36

Back on the weight loss wagon today. Might go for a walk later with dc. Dd1 has online lessons all morning so I think I'll take the other two out for an hour. It's drizzly so should be quiet.
I am tired after reading until late and then getting up early for the fridge engineer.
I'm looking forward to our noodle dinner tonight!

SistemaAddict · 01/07/2020 11:26

9,000 steps already! It's definitely good to get the exercise in in the morning. It was nice to go for a walk with dc too.

Youngatheart00 · 01/07/2020 12:45

Went out and did a 2 mile jog in the park. It’s getting only slightly easier! Being very conscious of my sugar consumption. Not least as we may try another round of IVF in 3 months and i need to drop at least 1.5 stone (not clinically but to get my BMI back to 25) and I have read sugar can damage egg quality.

SistemaAddict · 01/07/2020 14:17

I'd love to be able to jog/run but I'm just not built for it at all but I could happily walk all day, mile after mile.
I've already reached my 10,000 steps goal and have done 13 flights of stairs so far.
I'm debating dinner choices.

Youngatheart00 · 01/07/2020 15:38

Congrats on the 10000 steps already @Bercows you’re doing super well. I certainly don’t feel built for running at the moment.

Extracurricularfatigue · 01/07/2020 17:00

Titsalina that's brilliant news!

Youngatheart I was told by a really good GP that if your body is sugar sensitive, the smallest amount will cause problems with weight loss. I gave it up completely (which got easier more quickly than I thought) and it did make a massive difference. It also made my sweet tooth much less strong and although that was years ago and I do eat sugar again, I am much, much less bothered about sweet stuff than before. I've given it up again for the last nine days and haven't missed it at all. So maybe give cold turkey a go and see what happens?

Bercows stairs are great work outs.

I'm failing miserably at moving about thanks to work, work, work. I have lost another pound or so though, so I'm within touching difference of dropping below a stone barrier, which always feels so good.

SistemaAddict · 01/07/2020 23:08

I'm quite pleased with this today. My appetite and eating habits have changed so much in just two weeks. I don't feel hungry in the same way at all and apart from the blip one night I haven't eaten after dinner now for 17 days and it feels good to not let food control me anymore. I did a off a load of Doritos with da this afternoon but I included them in my daily allowance. My average daily intake is 1073. I'm no more tired than usual, sleeping well (apart from last night as I stayed up late and had to be up early), exercising more, eating more healthily in general and feeling much better mentally too. I ate so much chocolate before and would think nothing of eating chocolate or a toasted muffin or two, or a whole bag of lentil chips or a huge bowl of dry Cheerios at bedtime. It will be interesting to see how I feel once I'm back to the school run. I used to eat breakfast at 7am and would get back from school around 9.30-10am depending on the route I took and whether or not I picked up shopping on the way home, and I would be so hungry. Stomach rolling, proper acidic empty feeling. I'd then have another cup of tea and toast. My evening meal was always a fairly big portion of pasta or similar. I love pasta. Sometimes a bagel though. Or homemade pizza. I'd think nothing of drinking nearly a litre of pure orange juice a day if I had it in or was craving it. Would easily eat 3 jam doughnuts in a go or a third of a packet of chocolate hobnobs. And we often had crumble and custard for pudding, or ice cream. It's a miracle I wasn't the size of a house. I obviously burnt a lot of it off but then lockdown changed my activity levels but my appetite remained similar. I would love to be a comfortable size 10 and reduce my belly. It's been cut 6 times with various surgeries and I've had 3dc and several medically induced menopauses so it's not going to be like it was when I was 20 is it. My body has been through a lot and I need to cut it some slack and nurture it more. It does a good job considering what's wrong with it Grin
How has everyone been today? Hope your week is going well.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 02/07/2020 07:40

Brilliant @Bercows! You seem to really be getting into the swing of things and making long lasting changes.

I think back to what I used to eat and am amazed, I used to polish off a whole dominoes pizza and then share a pint of Ben and Jerry's with DH. I couldn't manage anything close to that now.

Avogato · 02/07/2020 08:21

@Innitogether I do find it easier to eat less when it’s really hot, although I did have a fair amount of ice cream during the last heatwave so that didn’t help Blush

I have maintained this week which is ok considering the food rampage I went on over the weekend. Back on it now though

overweightcat · 02/07/2020 09:09

That's great @Bercows .
Me and DP used to eat so much crap at the weekend (our film night) and could easily have chocolate, a big bag of crisps , sugary drinks and whatever else was going be it ice cream/gu dessert/sugary yogurts whilst watching a film.
I still allow a treat as I'm trying to avoid it all in the week but will do e.g. Serving portion of crisps (weigh it out) or individual bag and a small chocolate bar/ small bit of chocolate or a couple of cookies each again usually the serving suggestion. Our drink is San pelligrino or other sparkling water with high juice/squash of choice and ice as opposed to Coca Cola and the like.
I think it's being mindful and enjoying what you eat rather than scoffing a bag of malteasers without even tasting them properly.

I accidentally went over my cals yesterday Blush forgot to log some bits I had at lunch and mistakenly thought I had some calories left after dinner so had pombears and a small kitkat as I've been really craving it since Monday Hmm

Weight is still hovering around the 65.3kg mark this morning and I put on a jumper today I loved but nearly binned in the past and it looks so good! I used to think it looked OK until I saw a picture of myself and I realised how unflattering it was due to my tummy and it clinging in all the wrong places and vowed to donate it. Hopefully won't have to do that now!

SistemaAddict · 02/07/2020 09:27

65.3kg doesn't seem a lot-are you very short? You might have said already but I've a memory like a sieve Blush
