Anyone up for sorting their lard body out? I've peaked with my fatness and I need to sort it. I can no longer hide. Tomorrow will be the day. Are you up for it too?

@withadivinebeatlesbaseline The thing about 5:2 is that mentally you can tell yourself you are on a diet that lasts a day. You are never 'fasting' for more than one consecutive day so at any point, you know that you can 'eat more tomorrow'. That's what keeps me going.

shellwithbellson · 20/05/2020 14:17

I'd like to join you all. 5ft5in 11stone 13lbs and so down about it! I was around 11 2 in the middle of March when the schools were closed here and I had been trying to lose weight at that point but it all just went wrong. Too much comfort baking and comfort eating...

helenb706 · 20/05/2020 14:18

Buggeroffvirus... I so relate.my husband is an excellent cook and we both like wine lots. When I have previously tried to be good and diet he always leads me astray and then the cycle of I will start again tomorrow repeats. This time I have cut him out of it completely by doing Lighter life and do far so good as have even resisted his offers of tea with milk and glasses of wine. He doesn't go on about my weight but isn't supportive when I am trying to do something about it. Ideally want to shift 1.5 stones.

incognitomum · 20/05/2020 15:47

I've been for a hike today with dh and ds2. Dh took a selfie stick and did some filming. God I look shit. Definitely spurred me on.

justanotherneighinparadise · 20/05/2020 16:10

With fasting you’re just delaying your eating. It works for me as I’m never hungry in the evening so don’t eat dinner but always starving in the middle of the day where I’ll eat the dinner from the night before (if that makes sense).

So tonight I’m doing a chicken curry with rice and naan. If I were on a diet I’d have to use some bullshit creme freche and low fat bread. Because I’ve fasted for 20 hours I’ll eat it unadulterated. Personally that’s just so much more satisfying. I don’t want to eat a mound of cauliflower rice and quark. I want to eat food I like, just not all day long.

lou967 · 20/05/2020 16:37

@helenb706 how you finding lighterlife?

helenb706 · 20/05/2020 16:55

I was really sceptical but quite surprised. The cost spurs me on as I hate wasting money, but you take out my usual spend on wine, I guess it isn't too bad. Started Sunday and it was awful as the family was having a roast with wine etc. But I stuck to it. Next couple of days I felt lethargic and hungry... now on day 4 and I guess I must be in Ketosis as lots of energy and not particularly hungry. Don't get me wrong, if a plate of pasta and wine was in front of me I would be wishful but don't think I would crack as the weight is dropping off and i am no longer starving.

lou967 · 20/05/2020 16:56

@helenb706 well done you. I've heard that those VLCD's are hard to stick to but when you do them you don't get hungry. It's a case of mind over matter and strict discipline.

helenb706 · 20/05/2020 17:06

And masses of water... I eat when I am bored and I niw realize, thirsty. Never drunk so much water but it does genuinely fill you up plus give you that hand to mouth action.

lou967 · 20/05/2020 18:00

Well done you for sticking to it. I've seen peoples results and they are amazing. Likewise those following CD and Exante. I'd love to lose weight quickly but I think I'd pile it all back on again.

Moo678 · 20/05/2020 20:23

My 2nd day of intermittent fasting and I accidentally ate a grape as I was cleaning out my lunch box which means I now need to fast until 11:30 tomorrow instead of 11 😭

It’s was ok again today. I really don’t mind not eating breakfast. I do miss my evening snacks but not as much as I expected.

Today I had cup a soup with a peanut butter sandwich and a rocket, tomato and cucumber sandwich for lunch. Then grapes, an orange and a carrot before I cycled home from work. Tea was veggie fajitas - I had planned to have a couple of rice cakes with chocolate peanut butter as my pudding but I was full so didn’t eat anything else until the grape sneaked in.

Tomorrow will be a bigger challenge as I’m at home with the kids all day instead of working.

Moo678 · 20/05/2020 20:23

That should be rocket salad not sandwich - even I don’t need two sandwiches!

pleasestoprainingplease · 20/05/2020 20:33

Evening all, sounds like everyone's been doing great. Love hearing everyone's updates.

I had to do a shop so I've actually only really started today. But I weighed myself and am disgusted with myself. I have at least 4.5 stone to lose! Ideally 5.5 stone.

So far today I've had a shake for breakfast, a shake for lunch, a satsuma & a delicious prawn linguine. So 974 calories so far. Will have some carrot stick and cucumber tonight to try stop myself missing eating whilst watching tv.

Been for a 45 minute walk & done a few mins of skipping. Wow what a killer!

fataroundthemiddle · 20/05/2020 20:49

Just a comment about the skipping rope.I thought the same.Let's do abit of exercise.Right.Can manage to two skips. Now what??

pleasestoprainingplease · 20/05/2020 21:24

@fataroundthemiddle. I've been doing 30 seconds then stopping for a minute and doing 30 seconds until 5 mins is up. Then I struggle to breathe for 10 minutes! But I figured hopefully soon I'll find I can do it a bit easier 🤷🏻‍♀️ that's the plan.

fataroundthemiddle · 20/05/2020 21:57

30 seconds I wish.Couldn't believe it when I couldn't manage more than 2 skips.Not even three,but two.
So I bought a hoola hoop.Same again. I'm trying the 16:8 now.Weigh in on Saturday.

Straysocks · 20/05/2020 23:38

Reporting in to hear your updates and to keep motivated. I really like that we're all trying different things. I'm doing 1200 calories with MFP, it's the first time I've used an app and I'm really happy with it, if anyone has paid for the premium service I'd really like to hear if/how it helped. I'm on day 3 now and happy with myself, can see where I've erred so many times previously.

TaighNamGastaOrt · 21/05/2020 00:05

Great to hear folks updates-as a PP said, different people are trying different things!
@Straysocks I'm doing something similar to you, using MFP to calorie count to a deficit. Except I'm on 1400 cals. Not sure why!
Its good, I've been careful and as accurate as possible and although I have felt peckish, I've been having fruit or veg.
Am also fasting from 8pm-10am (except for a cuppa). Oh and excercising-knackered my ankle so resting from running just now.
Cycling is good too, it all helps.
Still feeling plump but its only day 3. Keep thinking long term!

TildaTurnip · 21/05/2020 07:24

Three days completed on Cambridge Diet. This morning the scales say 7lb lighter than Monday morning. I’ve been drinking between 2.5l and 3l each day and not feeling dreadful. I’m already bored of the replacement meals but I’ll choose more of a range when I next order.

Moo678 · 21/05/2020 07:54

@TildaTurnip that’s incredible - makes me wish I was doing a VLCD I would love quick results. I don’t want my kids to see me eating different meals though + not sure I actually have the willpower!

Straysocks · 21/05/2020 08:10

@TaighNamGastaOrt I suspect you can eat more if you're (or were) a runner, the exercise is not my strong point! 7lbs off though, that's incredible, can you notice a difference yet?

TrenchTown · 21/05/2020 08:17

@TildaTurnip 7lbs off is amazing. Well done

OP posts:
JigoloHarMegiddo · 21/05/2020 08:43

Wow @TildaTurnip, that's a great start!

I did my sneaky midweek weigh in this morning - 1.2lbs down from Sunday and 5.8lbs overall in ten days. I'm pretty pleased with that!

I'm lowcarbing (less than 20g a day) which on the one hand is quite easy because grains upset my digestion so I know I shouldn't eat them anyway; and otoh is harder because I can't eat eggs, avocado, blueberries, raw courgette or onion, or anything with sorbitol, xylotol or erithrytol in large quantities (still calibrating there!).

What I have discovered is that in hunger terms, low carbing suits me perfectly. I don't crave sugar, I like eating savoury things and fats. It's great.

However, I do self-soothe with sugar, using the mouthfeel of bread / cake / sweet things to feel better about Stuff. This is where I've fallen down in the past and over lockdown, because it's very easy to do. That's the point at which I have to remove myself from the kitchen!

incognitomum · 21/05/2020 08:54

@TildaTurnip well done that's amazing.

Keep going everyone we can do this 😊

justanotherneighinparadise · 21/05/2020 09:08

Well done @TildaTurnip 👏👏👏

I’m 164lb on the nose this morning. So happy with that. Not finding it difficult, so will keep going as I am and see where I get to 👊
