Good news snitch!

Bella444 · 28/05/2020 21:23

Good news from me Smile 4lbs off in two weeks. I thought it would be slower than this but maybe I'm still in the diet honeymoon phase!

LimeJellyforBrains · 28/05/2020 22:19

Well between my useless mechanical scales and Wii Fit I'm getting a bit confused - scales say the same this week, Wii Fit says I've lost 2lbs, so I think I'll split the difference and say 1lb Grin. I really must get myself some new scales with numbers instead of a dial, and more accurate.

lovinglavidaloca · 28/05/2020 22:39

Takeaway night in this house today so had to starve myself all day. So worth it though!!

It’s been hot hot hot here in sunny Scotland so no workout for me and had a busy day. Did some planting in the sun though which I’m sure burned the calories! Will do a workout on Saturday instead of having a rest day to make up for none today.

Hope you’re all doing well and enjoying the sun :)

Rumandcoke41 · 29/05/2020 08:45

Well done everyone on getting through another week

Just weighed in this morning, 3lb off! Can quite believe it, maybe my scales have glitched Confused

So hot here so apart from walking the dog during cooler hours I haven't exercised much, although cutting the grass counts, right?Grin

19 weeks to go until a wedding and 30 weeks today until Christmas!!

Rumandcoke41 · 29/05/2020 08:46

Oops meant to say can't quite believe it!

diege · 29/05/2020 09:03

Rum cutting the grass definitely counts!
Just emerging out of the birthday food fog...Back on the wagon today but still have lots of lovely goodies in that Im hiding from the kids in a secret fridge compartment 🤣
Have been thinking about trying slimming world again...more out of interest than anything. I wonder if a day of SW would match with my calorie allowance on MFP? 🤔 My hunch is it would be more calorific, but then I've always lost well on that plan and like the idea of unlimited fruit and veg... On the other hand, MFP gives more flexibility- I had a few scotch pancakes for breakfast today , fine on MFP but that would be my syns for the day already done on SW! 😫

Rumandcoke41 · 29/05/2020 09:19

@diege Ooh yes, happy belated birthday! Just spread the goodies out, have a little treat each day?

I did slimming world for years so I know what you mean by the difference in calories, syns etc. I still make the slimming world quiches for lunches at work and they're low in calories as it's mainly egg, low rate cottage cheese and whatever veg you throw in. Some recipes I still use but I do prefer mfp now as it's a lot easier to eat the same as the family that way. I used to use Joe Wicks' recipes a lot but when you out them in mfo the calorie content is quite high in a lot of his meals.

I get a lot of my ideas from posts on Instagram now and following different accounts that way, as I end up bored eating the same thing all the time!

Rumandcoke41 · 29/05/2020 09:20

Sorry for errors, I'm trying to do too many things at once!!

diege · 29/05/2020 09:44

That's interesting Rum - might try combining some SW favourites with MFP. I'm veggie, so still stick to the old green days. My 'go to' SW day with be weetabix or overnight oats for breakfast, baked potato, Quorn sausages, beans, cheese for lunch and the dreaded muller light yogurt, fruit throughout the day, veggie stir fry with noodles for tea, fruit for pudd, then syns/wise a walnut whip and a few rich teas 🤣 I'm sure that would take me over 1,200 cals? 🤔

overwork · 29/05/2020 09:48

Weight is such a funny thing, yesterday's small gain gave me a kick up the bum, so I did another C25K run, and ate within my MFP calorie allowance for the first time in a week. Hopped on the scales this morning (even though I promised last week I would stop doing that!) and the 0.5lb has apparently disappeared again. Obviously it hasn't really as one day can't have made that much difference, but now I feel more motivated to keep going...

Fabulodosus · 29/05/2020 10:01

Sounds like everyone's had a pretty good week! 💪

Enjoy the sun everyone Smile

OwlinaTree · 29/05/2020 10:14

diege I follow SW, I know it's not popular in Mumsnet! I lost over 3st and kept it off. I know it's less flexible than calorie counting, but I definitely eat a lot more healthily then I did on WW when I could save my points for booze and sweets!!

I find it's ok for family meals, things like chilli, spag cook, stir fries, sausage and mash, fish pie, Thai curries, Indian curries we all eat the same. I might have low cal sausages instead of normal. If we have fajitas I have lettuce leaves instead of wraps.

I tracked calories for a day out of interest and it came out as about 1700 for me, which seems reasonable.

OneOfTheGrundys · 29/05/2020 10:38

SW is a funny one I think-some of it seems really sensible but I definitely ‘yo-yo ed’ on it.
No run today, resting my knees but did a long walk with the boys and dog. Got to stick to the straight and narrow today.

diege · 29/05/2020 11:01

Wow 3 stone Owlina! I've lost baby weight (x6) on SW and do like it, but also felt I was eating the same sorts of food every day. More my fault really as Im a creature of habit!
One thing I'm finding on MFP is that I'm cutting down on fruit a lot so that I can have my treats later 😆 Us sugar addicts will always find a way through!
overwork you sound very motivated!

MrsSnitchnose · 29/05/2020 14:30

Get you @Rumandcoke41! Great loss!

Queenoftheashes · 29/05/2020 14:51

Well I weighed in a pound up yesterday and thought it might go overnight but no! Even heavier. Not recording today’s weight tho. FFS I have been being mainly good 😭

Rumandcoke41 · 29/05/2020 17:33

@MrsSnitchnose Thank you, feel chuffed but also half wondering if it's just a glitch on the scales..... Next week will tell if I put 4 lbs on Hmm

JonHammIsMyJamm · 29/05/2020 20:01

Well done guys.

Happy belated birthday, @diege Flowers. Sounds like you had a good one.

The wheels have fallen off my wagon. I’ve had an active week but a greedy one. It’s premenstrual week so I always crave carbs. That paired with my total loss of mojo after last weeks’ efforts meant that I was going to find it hard to stay disciplined. I’ve enjoyed it though and weighed in this morning, I’ve gained just less than a lb and am pretty much back to my starting weight. All this fuss and faff for a couple of lbs.

I’m going to start thinking about maintenance now instead. I’m getting very fed up with hating myself for lack of willpower and then making a solid effort and seeing no change. If I focus on maintenance, maybe the weight will drop or I just won’t keep gaining. I said at the beginning that not gaining would be a win for me and a loss would be a bonus and yet I’ve held myself to a loss every week and been cross when it hasn’t happened.

OwlinaTree · 29/05/2020 21:04

Jon I can't recall your starting weight, but I think I'm in a similar position. I only really wanted to lose 3lb on this thread, my main aim is to try and maintain without missing out on BBQs etc. I'm trying to take the view that as long as I stay under my starting weight I'm doing ok! I just need the accountability of a weekly weigh in and I really appreciate the support of others as I find it helps me stay focused.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 29/05/2020 22:05

@OwlinaTree, my BMI is 22. So perfectly within healthy range, I just have a small build and don’t carry weight very well, so ideally should drop a stone. That doesn’t seem to want to happen and my weight has been pretty stable at this level for around 18mo. Maybe this is just my new normal and I should start working with it, not against it?

OwlinaTree · 29/05/2020 23:29

BMI of 22 is normal, but I know what you mean about wanting to drop more. All my weight is on my belly, even a few lbs makes a difference!

MrsSnitchnose · 29/05/2020 23:46

I'm the same as you Jon and Owl all my weight is on my stomach mainly and my thighs. I sound in good shape on paper (BMI 21.7) but in reality, it's a different story.

OneOfTheGrundys · 30/05/2020 07:51

My bmi is 30.3 😭
I’m obese it says. Better go and run now!

redavocado · 30/05/2020 08:47

Hello everyone! And happy belated birthday @diege!

My week's been swallowed up by work and childcare and I've been stress eating the past few days. Luckily my weight hasn't gone up but it's not moving in the right direction either! I think I'm going to start running again as soon as DD is back at nursery.

Apparently my current BMI is 25.7 so very, very close to normal which is possibly why I find weight loss so hard. I only need 4lb off to be in the healthy range.
