Well I haven’t do much fallen off the wagon as not managed to get on it if the first place. I think the downfall for me is not planning, if lunch isn’t already determined I start hoovering up the contents of the kitchen while I’m thinking about what to have and before I know it I’ve eaten half a loaf and 3 bags of crisps. Today however I have already done Body pump and am going to take 5 mins to plan what I’m eating today. I make this so much harder and more complicated than it needs to be! Story of my life!

MrsSnitchnose · 26/05/2020 09:32

Workut done already. Was up hideously early to make sure everything was tidy for my annual gas check. Why they can't give a more specific time, I'll never know!

On the subject of snacks, they are the bulk of my calories too. I don't eat breakfast and have a protein shake at lunch though not till about 3. This leaves my dinner and my evening to snack. I've purposefully arranged my diet so I can eat in the evening, because this is when I most want something to munch on.

There was nothing worse for me than using up all my calories not long after tea time

Up and out here too. Done 6k, got an ok time so happy as it’s boiling here.
Very, very hard not to pick in the kitchen though at the moment, I totally agree with you @Inchbyinch. We are still locked down as my husband is clinically severely vulnerable and I’ve been doing a lot of bulk buying from local wholesalers who do domestic delivery. Cue the arrival of 150 packets of crisps, pub style. They rustle are me in the box when I walk past, so hard not to grab a packet. I try and think about the pretty clothes I may fit into again one day, that’s the only thing that strengthens my resolve 😂

OwlinaTree · 26/05/2020 09:58

Yes I love my evening supper. Cup of tea and a yoghurt and a few treats! Always save a bit through the day for this.

OwlinaTree · 26/05/2020 09:59

Well done on 6k Grundy. Have you been running long?

lovinglavidaloca · 26/05/2020 10:04

Thanks for your thoughts on the weighing. Think I’ll stick with weekly for now, only because I forgot to weigh this morning Grin

I’m another snacker! At least half of my 1300 calories per day are snacks. Yesterday was a Magnum, some Popchips, a Freddo and 5 Carr’s Cheese Melts. I’d quite happily not have meals and just snack instead!

OneOfTheGrundys · 26/05/2020 10:15

@OwlinaTree thank you and you 😊
I joined a local, social running club last September. It’s essentially C25k+ but with others and team leaders. I’d tried C25k before but lacked motivation and that’s the difference for me. I suffer depression and anxiety since my DH was diagnosed with a very life shortening illness in 2018 and anti depressants plus comfort eating rocketed my weight! Going out with club felt safe and it’s not your archetypal running ‘fit’ club. It’s mostly women and it’s everyone-from 20-75 and all sizes, backgrounds. And it’s all about support, encouragement and even friendship. It’s changed my life and I looked around and though my when I saw the group, ‘If they can so can I.’ We never leave anyone behind on a run, the group always stay together and the faster ones loop back to run with the slower ones. Not at the mo, obvs, but we all still support on fb. I’m a bit evangelical about it... sorry! 😂

OneOfTheGrundys · 26/05/2020 10:18

DH is doing well by the way but had a transplant just before lockdown to give him a few more good years of life. But between him needing to gain weight and teenage kids cooking is interesting!!!

lovinglavidaloca · 26/05/2020 10:21

So glad to hear your OH is doing well Grundy!

Your running club sounds amazing, I was just due to join one similar in the middle of March but they obviously couldn’t start it up because of lockdown. I’m really looking forward to it starting.

MrsSnitchnose · 26/05/2020 10:38

Just thought I'd share this for any beer drinkers. I haven't tried them myself, but tsomeone posted them in one of my slimming groups on fb. The poster found hers in B&M, but these are in Tesco and they;ve got good reviews

Looks good snitch!

Grundy sounds like you've been through a lot with your DH, I'm glad it's a little more settled now and he's doing ok. Your running club sounds great. I've done bits of running on and off, but when lockdown started I thought I'd start it up again to have something positive to do exercise wise. Plus I've got time as I'm not commuting. I'd like to join a group when all this is over I think. I do enjoy the time to myself at the moment though!

OneOfTheGrundys · 26/05/2020 11:33

We’ve been through a fair bit but others have suffered so much more, especially in lockdown. We know others who have had treatment cancelled or delayed as a result and I can’t imagine how awful it must be to live with the disease progressing like that.
I’m not a beer drinker but I’m sure I know people who are!

diege · 26/05/2020 14:08

That sounds really tough grundy - I'm sure eating well and exercising have taken a backseat in the past, understandably so. From my other posts/threads on mumsnet some may know that my eldest daughter has also been through the mill health-wise, and continues to be, so I can share a little in how stressful the journey is! On paper, eating healthily and being a healthy weight is a win-win, but oh so difficult to apply it!
I've had my snacks early today 😩 so will have to think of something super tasty for my tea....possibly a curry. Must get back to exercise too, you all put me to shame!

OneOfTheGrundys · 26/05/2020 14:30

I’m sorry to hear your daughter is having problems @diege. I haven’t seen your threads but I will look. Caring for others takes so much out of us and we must look after ourselves too. It’s hard to apply this advice to our own lives! Especially when food is such a comfort. We had a phone appointment with the consultant today and he stressed again how important diet is to recovery...

diege · 26/05/2020 15:40

Thanks Grundy. It's good that your Dh can keep his appointments going. We have one next Tuesday after a morning MRI. Was yours a video call? DDs consultant is 'experimenting' with that format 😳 Yes, diet so important but as you say, food also such a comfort in times of stress!

Inchbyinch · 26/05/2020 16:46

Oh Grundy you’ve been through the mill! I do think it’s really hard to have the headspace to even think about looking after yourself properly when there’s such big stuff going on. Logically it makes sense but when were we ever logical! It’s so good to find a supportive group though in whatever context, somewhere they don’t even have to know all your story but you feel looked after. I’ve had some experience of that with a weight loss class strangely enough. I lost no weight! But the warmth of the women in that class was a bright point in the week when things were bad.
I’m struggling with the snacks. I’m not even hungry I’m just cross and frustrated because my work computer is playing up.
Large glass of fizzy water coming up!

OneOfTheGrundys · 26/05/2020 17:26

Good luck next Tuesday @diege... no, just a normal phone call as he can get the info he needs from looking at the blood numbers. I hope your Dd is ok with the MRI. DH quite enjoys his!!
@Inchbyinch there is nothing, nothing more annoying than a work laptop that doesn’t work! I don’t blame you if you want to hit the snacks, it’s insanely frustrating!

lovinglavidaloca · 26/05/2020 19:13

Good luck Diege!

I’ve just made chicken parmigiana for tea. 897 calories according to Nutracheck Blush. I’m regretting that Magnum after lunch!

OneOfTheGrundys · 26/05/2020 20:25

That chicken sounds well nice!
Went over on carbs today but not on cals. Oh well. Another day tomorrow!

lovinglavidaloca · 26/05/2020 22:36

1597 calories for today! First time I’ve gone over as badly as that not on takeaway day since I started this. Hope it’s not a slippery slope!

OwlinaTree · 26/05/2020 22:58

Bet that chicken was nice for 897 calories! I've done ok today, eaten a bit more than the last couple of days, but stayed on plan. Had paella for tea and homemade coleslaw with a couple of leftover sausages for lunch. Omelette for breakfast.

Went out for a walk with the kids, found a new little area to walk around which was nice, will be good for running too. Made cakes with the kids this morning, had a taste but resisted a whole one!

Queenoftheashes · 27/05/2020 09:41

I’m two pounds up on last week! Argh!

lovinglavidaloca · 27/05/2020 09:56

Bet it’ll be off and more next week Queen! Stick at it.

OneOfTheGrundys · 27/05/2020 10:06

I’m with @lovinglavidaloca, it’ll be off again next week plus more. Keep on keeping on.
I did 7-8k today and heading for brunch now. Had a wonky few days food wise so need to nail it today!

OneOfTheGrundys · 27/05/2020 10:07

I mean, heading for brunch in my kitchen-that sounded as though I was going out to a lovely cafe or something. I can dream!
