16:8 does not feel like another shitty diet!. I managed to lose fat, have more energy and feel positive about life.

Hey,
I want to share my experience, I tried several diets in the past with little luck, I found them boring and I usually ended up caving in, binging on food and ending up back at square one.

However, I finally found the 16:8 fast really worked for me in losing weight.
I enjoy my food and more importantly I enjoy life without having to restrict myself anymore. Life is too short as they say!.

Weight loss can fill like a constant uphill battle, I know that feeling first hand. So, I would like to help where I can, let me know your struggles with the diet or what problems you have?. Happy to give tips or inspiration to others from my experience.

It is the little steps every day that add up to big results over time 😀. Let's all help and support one another!.

Well done to all who are losing, very encouraging to read your successes Star

Zombiemama · 27/05/2020 11:48

2 proper days of doing this and the scales show - 1.5lbs although it could be calories burned from all the toilet trips with the amount of fluid intake increasing!!

I was off fasting at 11am and I have just realised the time now and haven't had the urge to eat anything yet. I definitely find cutting out breakfast is a massive help at keeping hunger at bay.
On a normal morning with breakfast I'd have been craving more food

justanotherneighinparadise · 27/05/2020 11:58

Well done @Zombie 👌

SkeletonSkins · 27/05/2020 12:23

@DianneWhatcock yes start today! Decide what hours would suit you and stick to them.

Brill to read about some losses, @Zombiemama I totally agree about breakfast making me more hungry.

I’m on my 15th fast today and it’s a bit harder as I ended up eating later last night than planned so I need to wait until 1 to eat, however I’ve got my jacket potato in the oven and I’m getting on witj work until the time passes and I can enjoy it!

I have a big bag of Malteser buttons in my cupboard. I had a handful after tea last night and then kitchen was closed so I didn’t have anymore. I would normally have eaten them all last night, and finished any off this morning! I’m so proud that they’re still sat there! I feel much more in control.

bluefoxmug · 27/05/2020 12:28

someone asked about the toilet.

yes, I find that fasting strictly really slows me down.

Diversion · 27/05/2020 19:57

Today is my second day of this and I havent felt particularly hungry either day yet. My favourite snacks are normally bread and butter (lots of butter) and crisps and I have been drinking far too much wine recently too and I havent touched either in 2 days, thats a huge thing for me. I am eating between 12 and 8 as it seems to fit in with my work shifts. I have a lot of weight to lose, but wont get on the scales as if I dont see any loss in a week I will just give up. Im not particularly drinking huge amounts more but I seem to be spending a lot of time on the loo. I guess that this is excess fluid or something?

RubyRedz · 27/05/2020 21:00

Can i join?
Im on my third fast..It's much easier than i thought it would be! Im also using MFP set at 1000cals a day.

My weight was 11st 4lb when I started, i shall weigh on Monday and let you know if there's any loss-fingers crossed 🤞

justanotherneighinparadise · 27/05/2020 21:21

Ooh that’s the amount I’m on and losing daily. I’d be interested to know how you get on x

RubyRedz · 27/05/2020 22:18

Im just constantly drinking herbal tea and water, im always thirsty lol!
Im worried there will show no loss on the scales due to the water Hmm

beachdreaming2020 · 28/05/2020 08:25

Has anyone got bad breath as they approach the last few hours of fasting?! Is this a thing?

RubyRedz · 28/05/2020 08:33

Bad breath means your in Ketosis!
I was reading up on it last night. Smile

justanotherneighinparadise · 28/05/2020 08:48

Yeah your breath can get a bit fruity. Lots and lots of water and fresh mint mouth stay works for me.

SallyWD · 28/05/2020 08:58

I've never noticed the bad breath thing! Been doing it for years. Maybe I'm just oblivious to it.

DianneWhatcock · 28/05/2020 10:05

Did day one yesterday

Ate about 1900 calories between 12.30 and 8.30pm, plus went for a short run which my running app suggested burned 210 cals .
Also went for a walk with dcs

This morning I am BLOODY STARVING Blush I've had a black coffee but roll on 12ish so can have something to eat

On the plus side my belly feels really flat for some reason

Pinkvici22 · 28/05/2020 10:46

I am starving today too! I was up at 6 dealing with emails and paperwork so I can have a few hours in the sun, but I don’t end my fast until 12...

I’m on my 3rd coffee!

It’s day 12 for me and I definitely feel slimmer and my stomach is flatter.

RubyRedz · 28/05/2020 10:53

My 16 hour fast has just ended, im not overly hungry so im going to hold out for and 18 hour fast 🤞

RubyRedz · 28/05/2020 10:54

*an not and!

beachdreaming2020 · 28/05/2020 11:06

Thanks all. It was my 5 year old that pointed out the bad breath, I wasn’t aware myself!
Day 3 here, found it much easier to get to the end today, and actually broke fast at 16.5 hours as I was busy prepping veg for a curry this eve. I do have one cup of tea with a splash of milk at 8am (approx 14 hours in) though, and not planning to stop that for now as I think I will lose weight regardless. Apart from anything else my nighttime snacking has been completely halted, and I could easily eat 1000cals of chocolate etc after the kids are finally in bed.

TimeWastingButFun · 28/05/2020 11:16

I've been thinking about trying this. I've gone up to a size 14 top and 12 bottom, I used to be 8-10 🙈

I tried the 5:2 diet but couldn't stick to it. Thanks for the thread.

TimeWastingButFun · 28/05/2020 11:21

My husband and I like a glass of red in the eves, which I presume is out of bounds during the fasting part, that's the only drawback I guess!

Pinkvici22 · 28/05/2020 11:24

I started this fasting 6pm to 10am and have moved it to 8pm to 12 noon to accommodate a gin or wine in the evening!!!

DianneWhatcock · 28/05/2020 11:30

@RubyRedz

Does it work better if you go longer then ?

HorsesDoovers · 28/05/2020 11:56

Well this diet doesn't feel like a diet at all. And I say that as someone who has been on pretty much every diet ever invented. I never ever thought I could go without breakfast, but I have done this for the past 3 days and its been fine, almost too easy! I'm really hoping I can continue to feel this way as I desperately need to sort out my relationship with food and put an end to the yoyo dieting.

feelingdizzy · 28/05/2020 12:04

I've been doing it for about 6 weeks, its totally changed my relationship with food.I have lost weight which I need to do,but much more than that its freed me from constantly thinking about food .
I like food ,don't want to be obsessive about it,so this suits me I eat what I want (I seem to want to eat more healthily). Its stopped all the mindless eating .My body feels less sluggish and honestly after more than 30 years of battling with food, its such a relief that maybe I can live happily with food as a nice part of my life not my entire life !

justanotherneighinparadise · 28/05/2020 12:23

I liked it when Dr Fung said it’s completely free, it works and requires no effort. Which is exactly why the diet companies don’t want to touch it!!!
