I had a day of a real “sod it” mentality yesterday, and overate on junk. Took DD out to the cinema and Bella Italia, and had a delicious pizza. It all went downhill from there 😂

Back to it today. Have been to the gym for about 45 minutes, and food so far has been a slice of fruit toast for breakfast, and an Itsu udon noodle/broth pot with a little bit of leftover chicken in it. I am at about 450cals so far for the day. Trying to decide what to have for dinner. I need to be better at planning I think.

I’m full of admiration for those who manage low carb diets. I would massively struggle I think. Thankfully, I seem to be able to get away with a bit of bread and pasta here and there, hope it continues that way!

Ecci · 20/02/2020 14:21

4.8 lbs down for the month so far, still hoping I'll get to 7. I've just discovered baked cabbage. Shred half a white cabbage, add 2 tsps water and 2 tsps lemon curd, cover with foil and put in the oven at 200 for 30 to 40 minutes depending on how soft you like the cabbage. It's delicious.

cricketmum84 · 20/02/2020 15:34

Tried on some new clothes today and got DD to take me a pic. At first I felt so despondent at how big I still am. But then I compared back to where I was and omg the difference is amazing.

I only have one proper before pic as I was so against having my photo taken but for any newbies who haven't seen it yet I've attached my initial photo (the one that really kicked my arse into gear) and my pic from today 94lbs lighter.

Still a long way to go but as the t-shirt says.....

Wow!!!! That is amazing @cricketmum84 !! You really do have a lot to be proud of, the transformation so far is massive. Keep up the great work!

MotherOfDragonite · 20/02/2020 17:22

You are a real inspiration @cricketmum84!

I also hate having my photo taken. My friend took one today where I was in the shot behind the kids and sent it to me and I was horrified. On the plus side, I guess I've got a before photo now?!

@Ecci ... lemon curd?!!! I love white cabbage with various flavours but would never have thought to try that. Is is good? How did you discover it?!

@SconNotScone I am definitely joining you in the "couldn't do it myself" club.

Egghead68 · 20/02/2020 17:55

Looking great @cricketmum84! Love the T-shirt.

recklessgran · 20/02/2020 18:19

@cricketmum84 that is a truly amazing transformation. I hate having my pic taken and in fact I'm still smarting at how enormous I looked in a family pic taken when we were out for the last Christmas dinner. I won't be having a pic taken any time soon that's for certain.
Wow, I don't think that I can get my head round lemon curd and cabbage - sorry don't think I'm brave enough for that.....
I'm having thick carved ham and egg mayo with Italian salad tonight. I've been eating a pack of wafer thin ham at my desk whilst sipping water this afternoon. My weight was up a pound today - too many pecan nuts consumed yesterday?
Oh well, still staying on the wagon, apart from anything else I'm completely invested in you lot now - thanks so much @Cricketmum84 I'm holding you and all your mates here responsible for my current level of success!

Ecci · 20/02/2020 18:21

@cricketmum84 You're my hero. You look stunning.

@MotherofDragonite I was trying to work out how to make Turkish cabbage salad (like you get from kebab shops). That has lemon juice in it. One day I was making some but I'd no lemon juice so I put some lemon curd in, and it was really nice. Then, on a really cold horrible day, I fancied something hot instead of salad, so I thought I'd try cooking the cabbage with lemon curd, and the oven was on anyway, so I shoved it in for half an hour. In my opinion, it's really delicious. I love cabbage, white and red. I haven't tried this recipe with red cabbage yet, but I will soon.

cricketmum84 · 20/02/2020 20:27

Aw thanks my lovelies! What a lot of lovely comments!! I'm feeling very warm and loved at the moment.

Couldn't be bothered grating cauliflower for the pizza base so I went with the omelette base instead. I definitely have more energy from upping my protein intake. And it's lovely to use my carb points on a little cheese. I've decided I'm rubbish at being a vegan so sticking to vegetarian diet. I LOVE low carbing!

cricketmum84 - impressive weight loss!

I've had to buy new scales today. I weighed myself in Boots and then at home on 2 different scales. Neither agreed with the one at Boots (which I assume is accurate). I've suspected for a little while that the scales were a little 'off' but now they've got to go.

Juliette20 · 21/02/2020 05:54

Well done @cricketmum84 Can see you have lost loads of weight.

Juliette20 · 21/02/2020 05:57

I always weigh myself naked first thing in the morning on one set of scales (not the ones in Boots, to their customers' relief). Once a week. If I weighed myself later in the day in Boots though the scales would show at least 4lb heavier.

cricketmum84 · 21/02/2020 07:09

Morning! Just 8 days now until the end of the month. Im another pound down this morning so 5lbs in total for the month after my horrible mid month gain. It's been a real up and down month for me!

Hopefully continuing with the low carbing will give me a good continued loss for the month.

Plan for today is:
B - mini egg muffins with asparagus and quorn ham
L - salad
D - DH wants takeaway!

@recklessgran my keto low carb guru can you help me with what to order??

NerrSnerr · 21/02/2020 10:15

Hello all. I have been quiet. After a good start I have been maintaining for almost 2 weeks as my heart hasn't been in it. At least I haven't gained!! Really trying to stay away from the biscuits today and get back on it so I can have a bit of a loss this month.

recklessgran · 21/02/2020 10:25

Blimey steady on @Cricketmum84 I'm getting a big head here! I think it depends on what kind of takeaway you are thinking of. I understand with Indian you can have any of the creamy curries but obviously not the rice although the veggie sides are probably alright. Anything fatty cooked with ghee also O.K - not a fan myself as I don't like spicy food so haven't tried it. In terms of Chinese, Egg Foo Yung or anything stir fried or in black bean sauce is O.K You obviously need to avoid rice and noodles and most of the other sauces apart from black bean are too carby. Personally I just chuck soy sauce over it all. Pizza I think is a no no likewise McDonalds unless you'd be happy with a vegetarian wrap without the wrap - not exciting at all! Fish and chips. I just have the inside of the fish. No batter, no chips but not sure about vegetarian options - veggie burger without the bun? Reckon Chinese is your best bet in terms of getting a decent plate full but we don't often have a takeaway as we're a bit cut off here and prefer to eat out if I'm not cooking. Hope you enjoy whatever you have and I'm so pleased that the low carbing seems to have kick started your weight loss. KOKO.
@Juliette20 I'm a naked post morning wee daily weigher too. Sight for sore eyes I can tell you. I think it's keeping me on task as if I go up by even 0.25lbs it makes me extra good for the day.
I haven't been all that good at drinking the water though this week - that is a very important part of Keto I understand as it helps wash the fat out or something like that. [I'm not a scientist!]

Tryingtwo · 21/02/2020 10:59

Good morning all, cricketmum84 what a transformation, you're amazing.
Down again today, it's been a yoyo week.

cricketmum84 · 21/02/2020 11:13

We are going either Indian or Chinese. If we go Indian then I'm thinking a mushroom dansak? I've got some sachets of vegetable rice in the freezer so would do one of them with it instead of ordering rice. Same with Chinese but would go for a vegetarian duck in a light sauce? Szechuan or similar and again do the veggie rice or order some crispy seaweed :)

Just had grilled asparagus with 2 fried eggs. Am appreciating the reintroduction of a little olive oil into my day!!

(Also a naked weigher 😂😂)

Congrats on being down again @Tryingtwo I know how frustrating the ups and downs are.

@Ecci lemon curd and cabbage?? That sounds weird sorry!

I have a Savoy cabbage in the fridge I need to use - have seen a good recipe though where you put passata, sweet peppers, garlic and chilli in a casserole dish then quarter the cabbage and bake in the sauce. Might give that a go on Sunday!

JessJonesJumps · 21/02/2020 13:15

cricketmum you look fantastic! well done!
I didn't weigh this morning. I had an early meeting so didn't have time. I'll weigh tomorrow. I feel like Feb has just disappeared!
ecci I have a jar of lemon curd that I haven't opened because I wasn't sure what to do with it. I might try your cabbage suggestion.
Jonty hope you're well.

MotherOfDragonite · 21/02/2020 15:06

@cricketmum84 I wouldn't be sure the vegetarian duck was low-carb -- it's often made of seitan which is wheat gluten. And I have no idea how low-carb tofu is, but it might be the safer alternative.

The mushroom dhansak sounds lovely!

MotherOfDragonite · 21/02/2020 15:07

I am currently salivating at the idea of a nice saag paneer! I bet that would be low-carb without the rice. Might go for a selection of yummy veg sides if it was me. (ok, ok, I'm hungry)

Skyejuly · 21/02/2020 16:10

I've had a terrible week. So I skipped weighing lol will weigh on Wednesday if I feel brave.

LotusInspired · 21/02/2020 16:12

I want to join, I will weigh myself tonight after I’ve bought a scale Hmm

cricketmum84 · 21/02/2020 17:02

Haha @MotherOfDragonite yes you sound a little peckish. Good thinking about the vegetarian duck, I hadn't thought of that. I might give them a call first and ask what their meat substitutes are made of. To be honest most takeaways have been so accommodating with my veggie requests so I'm sure they would do me something with broccoli maybe. I'm not a huge fan of tofu but I do love paneer!

@recklessgran and any other very low carb people - did you notice any (ahem) side effects in the first few days??

@Skyejuly hugs, I'm sure it's not been as bad as you think. Tomorrow is a whole new day and you can draw a line under unhealthy eating and plan and refocus for the weekend.

@LotusInspired welcome to the gang!! What's your battle plan?
