Right, this is it (after Christmas and new year...)

What have your experiences been with the Cambridge diet?

Currently around 13 stone ish (haven't weighed myself for ages... Living in denial) would like to get to 9 and a half stone ish. 5ft 4.

Is this going to be the one???

Not something I’ve experienced....!

FthisS · 09/01/2020 10:18

How is everyone getting on? I'm feeling quite unwell to be honest can't stomach anything I even smell of shake BlushConfused

dietdogooder · 09/01/2020 10:22

Day 4 for me, my consultant brought the visit forward so she could swap products for me as I really wasn't liking the savoury items. Much prefer the ready mades and bars.
I opted to weigh in today and then go weekly from today onwards. So pleased I have lost 6lbs in 4 days and I'm into the next stone bracket. Such a motivator!

ShoeJunkie · 09/01/2020 13:41

Keto flu @FthisS?

Amazing loss @dietdogooder - really helps to keep on track when you get losses like that.

All good here, like I said much easier to stay on plan when I’m working. Normally weigh in on Friday but my consultant is away until Saturday so I’ll do it then instead.

Iprefergin · 09/01/2020 17:02

Hey!

That's me onto week 2 now. I've lost 6lb which I'm delighted with. Feel so much better without the bloat. Still fatter than I was this time last year but I feel I can get all my excess weight off this time.

I'm mainly doing bars with the odd shake/porridge. I get sick of the shakes very quickly

NamechangeoutedbyMIL · 09/01/2020 18:38

OP again 😂

I think I might do exante shakes for breakfast and lunch and a 600 cal meal at nighttime - has anyone tried that??

Day 3 coming to a close and I feel like I'm winning. Bit headachey today but continuing to chug water and it's all good. Not had anything that I really don't like so far, shakes much better once blended. Accidentally made the breakfast smoothie with lukewarm water earlier which was gross but shoved some icecubes in which did the trick. Had the mac cheese for lunch today, followed tip I saw on a FB group about leaving it to stand for 5 mins before cooking and it wasn't crunchy at all, nice to have something solid like pasta! I'm enjoying the salted caramel bites and peanut crunch bar in little bits spread out through the day. Not tried a porridge yet so going to give that a go tomorrow too. No more explosive reactions to food either which is a relief! I'm really nervous for weigh in on Tuesday. I've got my Step 2 200 cal meals all planned out for until after then. I hope I get a good loss or I'm worried I'll lose motivation.Confused

sunsetandcocktails · 09/01/2020 21:22

You're all doing great!
I've got my appointment with my consultant tomorrow. Am away at the weekend and then aim to start on Monday

sunsetandcocktails · 09/01/2020 21:23

Well done @dietdogooder !! Amazing!

sunsetandcocktails · 10/01/2020 19:29

Right! I've got my stuff for a week, and start on Monday! Excited and apprehensive.
Not sure my consultant is the right one for me. She didn't really say much? I learnt more about it through reading these posts. Don't think I could open up to her when I'm finding things difficult. We didn't 'click' if you know what I mean.
Should I look to change consultants, do you think?

Iprefergin · 11/01/2020 01:29

It depends on how much support you feel you need. I have a great consultant who is very supportive and understanding. I'm doing this for myself though and dont really need much more from her than the food.
She would be great if I did need help though

ShoeJunkie · 11/01/2020 10:13

Got weighed last night (first time since Christmas) - 1lb loss - 1lb to go and I’ve lost 2 stone!

WutheringFrights · 11/01/2020 20:55

Day 2 for me...wanted to start on the 7th but my consultant couldn’t get the products to me.

I started ‘being good’ earlier in the week though and the scales tell me I’ve lost 6lb already. So I am hoping for even better losses by the official end of my first week.

DH has joined me this time and he is struggling as he is very hungry but he has amazing willpower (ie: he is really bloody minded!) so I think he will see it through.

We both have about 2.5 stone to lose and I’m really looking forward to the positive changes in both of us.

I am having 3 products a day and he is having 4 which is killing me so I need to space out my products better so I don’t feel jealous when he eats his final one of the evening 😂

FleurNancy · 11/01/2020 20:55

Well done @ShoeJunkie 1lb loss over Christmas is brill!

I managed a Saturday with 3.5 hours to kill in the city centre without going off plan. I have to wait during DS's choir rehearsal and usually take myself for a yummy solo lunch but after a mooch around the charity shops I took myself off to the public library with a carton of choc shake and spent two hours reading a book. Lovely.

FleurNancy · 11/01/2020 21:00

Also, I'm struggling to get more than two products in a day. I tend to have nothing until lunchtime (usual for me) then a product for lunch, another mid afternoon then my Step 2 dinner. I'm not an evening snacker so rarely have anything after dinner at 6.30/7ish.

Is this the equivalent of doing Step 1? I just don't feel like eating more. Tonight I had my spicy couscous with my 200 cal chicken and vegetables as was out all afternoon. Felt like a LOT of food in one go. Not sure whether that's a good idea either? Any thoughts?

ariadnestar · 14/01/2020 18:57

First weigh in tonight and I'm down half a stone! On Step 2, so really happy with that! Quite enjoying the Facebook forums for ideas and motivation. An interesting one tonight about ways to use mix a mousse that's giving me some ideas for experimentation next week (I haven't bought it yet). How's everyone else getting on?

FleurNancy · 14/01/2020 21:24

Glad to see you here Ariadne, I thought I'd killed the thread, amazing loss too, well done. I'm on Step 2 as well and had my first weigh in this morning and lost 4lb. Couldn't help but be disappointed, I think some of the big losses in the FB forums had given me unrealistic expectations. So I've hidden them all for now to stop me judging myself by other people. I'm not eating 3 products a day either and I wonder if that's the problem. I've got more savoury stuff this week: meals and soups, the shakes weren't doing it for me. I need to go have a soup now actually, going to try really hard to get 3 products in per day.

Iprefergin · 15/01/2020 09:33

Hi

Still going strong. Lost 2lb this week. Mixed feelings, a loss is a loss but the last time I did this I was losing a lot more despite a lower starting weight.

sunsetandcocktails · 15/01/2020 19:45

Well done @Iprefergin. Try not to be disheartened- I think there are lots of different factors that go into weight loss - level of hormones, sleep, hydration, movement...Also I've sometimes found that weight loss is delayed by a week. And 2lbs is a great achievement!

ShoeJunkie · 15/01/2020 21:22

@Iprefergin - you might find you get a bigger loss next week, I always find I take a week to catch up!

ShoeJunkie · 17/01/2020 17:34

Weigh in today - another 4lbs gone so total loss now 2 stone 2 pounds. Have moved up to step 3 so 1,000 calories a day.
Have been out to buy some size 12 jeans as a little treat!

ariadnestar · 17/01/2020 19:24

Size 12! Amazing! I don't think I've ever been a size 12 but maybe this time... Well done on your loss!

FleurNancy · 19/01/2020 21:43

Well done Shoe! I'm not expecting much of a loss on Tues as we had a family weekend away with a lot of travelling and a pub lunch out. I was pretty good and took my products along but I think the potions of protein/veg etc I bought to eat en route and in the pub were prob too big. However I definitely didn't fall off the bandwagon other than a few tiny mouthfuls here and there and am still well on plan so I'm happy enough.

FleurNancy · 21/01/2020 21:54

1lb off. Small loss as expected. Going to make sure I eat all 3 products every day this week and not miss any, keep chugging the water and fingers crossed for a big loss next week.

sunsetandcocktails · 23/01/2020 10:00

Good luck @FleurNancy
Someone may have mentioned it above, but there's something called the 'Whoosh' effect (great name!) which causes weight loss rarely to run in a linear line. Google it. I did and was reassured that even if I've been on Plan, I still may not lose/only lose small one week and that's ok.
