1500 cals a day/Clean Eating starting Tuesday

mammaplay · 18/04/2019 16:48

Hi all,

I'm intending to start 1500 cals a day "healthy eating plan" from Tuesday.

I've developed bad habits over winter and am mostly eating refined carbs with lots of sugary snacks. As a result, I have a pot belly, my clothes are tight and i'm feeling meh.

I've planned the next week's meals as roughly:

Tue: Muesli with raspberries, Cheddar salad, Chicken rice and veg
Wed: Bircher muesli, Mushroom & beans, Cod sweet potatoes and veg
Thur: Porridge, Soup, Tuna steak w couscous & salad
Fri: Special K, Salmon omelette, Pork with garlic & broccoli
Sat: Avacado on rye, Veggie humus with crudite, Steak & root veg
Sun: Egg and avocado, Mushroom omelette, Cauliflower Rice-Stuffed Peppers
Mon: Chicken sausages w beans, Mackerel salad, Turkey sweet potato chilli.

Anyone else doing anything similar?

I'm aiming to lose 5-7 lbs (but mostly tone up and feel better).

Yes! I’ve already started but would love to join you. We’re going to St Lucia at the end of May for our 20th wedding anniversary (same place we honeymooned- promised ourselves this trip on the honeymoon!). I’m trying to lose 7.5lbs - though I weigh on a Saturday so hopefully a bit less- by 25 May.

After that I want to lose another 5 lbs which will put me at 9 1/2s which will make me happy. Grin

I need to also do a fair amount of exercise to lose. I know it’s supposed to be 80% diet etc, but exercise makes a massive difference for me. I do 4xgym classes a week plus 2x spin bike and rowing machine. Once I’m not dieting, the spin bike/rowing will be swapped back to outdoor cycling.

I’m a creature of habit so tend to have 40g porridge plus lots of blueberries for breakfast, salad with prawns, salmon or chicken for lunch, a cup of coffee with milk mid afternoon and then whatever I’m making for the family for dinner (but I watch my portion size).

choc27 · 18/04/2019 17:45

Hi, I am doing the same, starting Tuesday too! About 5lb to lose and need to start running again as I hibernated over the winter! How often/when will you weigh in? I am going to weigh myself on Friday mornings.

mammaplay · 18/04/2019 18:37

Welcome on board Wicked and Choc,

Wicked - so lucky you have St Lucia to motivate you.

Yes, I will be upping the anti exercising too and hoping to get the dog trained up to join me on C25k. I already exercise a fair bit but need to do more cardio and weights and not make excuses.

I am hoovering up all the treats now so that there won't be any left in the house by next week (won't touch DS' easter eggs).

Am going to do weight and measurements Tuesday morning and was thinking of weighing every 4 days? Will also be using MFP and fitbit.

Have planned to buy a weekly treat (face mask, lipstick etc) at the end of each week.

Are your weight goals based purely on scales or BMI/fat percentage?

Am considering signing up to a 10k but not sure if that's too much too soon...

I’m just focusing on weight right now. I ate far too much over Christmas which somehow merged into January then February... Once I get to 9s 7lbs I’ll change my strategy and focus on building more muscle- add in a protein drink etc. I really really like to eat and having more muscle makes an enormous difference in how much I can eat. Grin

How far away is the 10k? DH quite often signs up for events when he’s stuck in a rut just to get him back focused- he needs challenges/targets!

choc27 · 20/04/2019 10:48

I'm doing c25k too. I got all the way to week 8 and then gave up over the winter. So pissed off with myself for that. So now I am back on it, started about week 5. So I'll be doing that 3 times a week from next week and trying to loose about 5lb I reckon.
Using mfp too.

mammaplay · 20/04/2019 16:09

I was hoping to do couch to 5k but our pup is only 9 months and unable to start jogging until July so I'll just be doing twice daily dog walks and 2/3 gym sessions per week.
The warm weather is definitely a motivator to shape up.

Hello, can I join too please? I'm planning to start from Tuesday - ideally I want to lose 2 stone but I'd be happy with 1 stone to start with! I've put on weight since going back to work after maternity leave with DS2 but he'll be 3 in September so I've no excuse any more!

I don't do a great deal of exercise, but planning to start swimming once a week initially and build up from there. I find time is an issue with working full time and 2 small children. Diet-wise I need to stop eating crap, eat more healthily and cut down my portion size. I'm feeling more motivated that I have done for a long while, so hopefully I'll actually lose some weight this time!

WhoKnewBeefStew · 20/04/2019 17:41

I do this now and again and it does work. I find if I eat salad with some protein for lunch is relatively easy to do. But I do struggle with exercising at the same time as I need more food because I get ravenous after exercising.

WickedGoodDoge · 20/04/2019 19:27

I know I’ve started ahead of the rest of you, but I weighed this morning and am down 1.5lbs so I now have 6lbs to lose in 5 weeks. Surely that should be manageable! Grin

MillieMoodle · 21/04/2019 09:33

Well done @WickedGoodDoge off to a great start.

All was going well here, I even had salad for dinner, but then I are popcorn and dark chocolate in the evening. I'm officially starting on Tuesday so won't beat myself up about it too much, but am a bit annoyed at my lack of self control!

choc27 · 21/04/2019 10:14

Well done WickedGoodDoge! Getting a head start! That should definitely be doable though I guess it depends on your actual weight as if you are close to your ideal weight it will be hard to lose 1lb a week.

mammaplay · 21/04/2019 14:17

Afternoon all,
Dodge, how often have you been weighing yourself?

Theclearing · 21/04/2019 14:21

I’m in! Want to lose 7lb through clean healthy eating (am coeliac which you’d think would help, but many gluten-free products are very processed and sugary).

suggsy · 21/04/2019 16:39

Hello Smile I’m definitely up for this! Just looked in the fridge and shocked at the amount of processed foods and sugar we’ve been munching on over the winter! I think I’m going to focus on the diet bit for a few weeks then ease myself in to c25k, would love to be able to do a 10k again!

WickedGoodDoge · 21/04/2019 20:44

Thanks everyone. Grin mammaplay I weigh every Saturday morning, mostly because I take Saturday off- no exercise and I eat what I want (snack with afternoon coffee and dessert after dinner). choc I’m just into my healthy BMI (5’4” and 10s 4lbs- overweight is 10s 7lbs) so hopefully I’ll be able to lose the next few pounds without too much difficulty, but we’ll see.

I tend to get stuck at 9s 13lbs and sit there for ages- ideally after our holiday I’d like to get down to 9s 7lbs and then change my approach to focus on building more muscle.

w33ta8ix · 22/04/2019 00:23

Can I join? Gave up sugar before Xmas and my skin looked great. Diet lapsed quite a bit since Feb!

Long working hours up to Easter (job is brexit related - March/April was hell!) and lots of junk food/late night snacks.

Hoping to reset after Easter. Will weigh in Tuesday morning...

Pulchra76 · 22/04/2019 00:33

Can I join too please? I would ideally like to lose 2 stone but I’m going to try to lose 2-3lb a week through healthy eating and watching my portion size until I feel comfortable in my clothes again. The only exercise I can do is walking so I’m aiming for at least 10,000 steps a day.

choc27 · 22/04/2019 22:41

Its nearly Tuesday! W33ta8ix I'm going to weigh in tomorrow too and then every Friday.
Good luck tomorrow everyone Wink

w33ta8ix · 23/04/2019 06:33

So got a scale shock this morning. My ideal weight is 9stone. Last time I weighed in - about a month ago? - I was 9 st 4lb. Today it was 9stone 9.6lb! Shock. . Hopefully this will give me the kick up with backside I need!

Stressful day at work today, so hoping that I get through without reaching for junk.

Lily311 · 23/04/2019 06:56

Joining in if possible.

I have had a baby 11 weeks ago and I'm currently weighing 12 stones. No idea how much weight I want to lose, first goal is to get to 11st.

I have had toast with boiled eggs for breakfast, planning to have soup for lunch and spaghetti for dinner. I'm aiming to reduce portion size and cut out biscuits completely. I'm still breastfeeding so won't be too radical. I have an indoor bike so will try to exercise 3 times during the week.

MillieMoodle · 23/04/2019 07:04

Morning all, today's the day! I will resist the biscuits!

@Lily311 congratulations on your baby. I am also 12 st, aiming to get to 11 st first (preferably by the summer), only my baby is 2.5 years old now.

Hope everyone had a great day. Back to work here after a lovely few days off.

iAteAllThePies86 · 23/04/2019 07:18

Glad I've seen this! I'm trying to lose a little weight too. My main food groups are cheese, chocolate and chips so big changes needed to lose my big belly!

iAteAllThePies86 · 23/04/2019 08:14

Sorry forgot to add I am 11st something at the minute (probably closer to 12 Blush). No real target weight in sight, just want to look a bit trimmer and get rid of this horrible wobbly belly! Am planning on digging some old gym equipment out, there is an old exercise bike at the back of my shed and a rowing machine somewhere!

What's everyone eating today? I have a low fat cereal bar for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch and then a pasta dish for dinner. Trying to minimise snacks too.

ningaj · 23/04/2019 09:43

Glad I've read this thread. Definitely need to motivate myself and lose some weight! I'm 5ft 8 and 11 stone 5. My 'happy' weight would be 10 stone 10, but I struggle to maintain this.

Feel sluggish after too much BBQ food and beer over the weekend.

I'm terrible at dieting, especially knowing what to have for breakfast. Had toast and peanut butter this morning - not the greatest!! Any ideas for a v quick breaky? I normally have about 5 mins to sort it between getting the kids ready and getting to work in time. I hate both muesli and granola!

ChipsAreLife · 23/04/2019 11:10

Oh I'll join please! Off on holiday in two months and would like to lose a good 10lbs. Am currently about 10.11 after Easter, was 10.8 last week 😬 I would love to get in the 9s as I'm at the high end of BMI (am 5ft5) but have a few things in between now and then that may stall me.

My plan is to try stick to 1200 calories a day and do an hour exercise. Normally 40 mins of cardio or strength and then 20 mins yoga or Pilates at night. I'm also Making sure I hit 10.000 steps too. I've been doing this for two months and lost a stone and loads of inches.

I generally eat two meals a day and have a snack. My biggest problem is booze which I've managed to really knock on the head but also chocolate which I've less successfully done!!!!

ningaj what about scrambled eggs?
