1500 cals a day/Clean Eating starting Tuesday

Hi all,

I'm intending to start 1500 cals a day "healthy eating plan" from Tuesday.

I've developed bad habits over winter and am mostly eating refined carbs with lots of sugary snacks. As a result, I have a pot belly, my clothes are tight and i'm feeling meh.

I've planned the next week's meals as roughly:

Tue: Muesli with raspberries, Cheddar salad, Chicken rice and veg
Wed: Bircher muesli, Mushroom & beans, Cod sweet potatoes and veg
Thur: Porridge, Soup, Tuna steak w couscous & salad
Fri: Special K, Salmon omelette, Pork with garlic & broccoli
Sat: Avacado on rye, Veggie humus with crudite, Steak & root veg
Sun: Egg and avocado, Mushroom omelette, Cauliflower Rice-Stuffed Peppers
Mon: Chicken sausages w beans, Mackerel salad, Turkey sweet potato chilli.

Anyone else doing anything similar?

I'm aiming to lose 5-7 lbs (but mostly tone up and feel better).

Hope you had a lovely birthday @WickedGoodDoge

I've completely fallen off the wagon after my neighbour bought a huge cake round (which I have eaten over the past 2 days). I did exercise but have definitely gained so starting back on the straight and narrow tomorrow.

Hope everyone else has been more restrained.

Well done for a the losses! You are doing so well.

We were away this weekend and I fell off the wagon. Back on it today and also decided to stop drinking until we go away in just under 7 weeks. I find drinking leads me to eat crap the next day and not exercise!

I am too scared to weigh and need a few days back on track till I can face it!

RosinaAlmaviva · 07/05/2019 15:46

I had cheat day on Sunday, completely lost my head and baked some brownies. Back on the wagon now! I went to Pilates today and am planning on doing another class this week because I'm still hovering around 169lb and feel I need to do more.

Had a mini quiche Lorraine for lunch. It was 480 calories! Didn't realise until I got it home.

WickedGoodDoge · 07/05/2019 17:15

I did, thanks, mamma Grin Am doing extra cardio this week to burn off some of the calories! Tonight I’ll have a little bit of DS’ birthday cake, then back to diet.

mammaplay · 07/05/2019 17:46

Well done everyone anyway. It's natural to have a little blip but the main thing is we are all back to being good today.

I've found the lowest calorie lunch today, green salad with tomatoes, king prawns and cottage cheese with pineapple - only 150 cals and surprisingly tasty/filling (I added lots of fresh parsley and chives). Will have this again for the next 2 days!

If anyone has any nice low cal dinner options please share.

Mammaplay I often have one of those easy cool chicken breasts that come in lemon and herb style dressing with some salad. It's normally less than 300 cals including dressing.

Or I'll have chilli con carne but have green beans rather than rice. Sounds random but is quite nice!!!

Yeah you're right about the blip. I've weighed and still 10.10 by some miracle. Did back to back workouts at lunchtime and will try do that all week to redeem the wine!

RosinaAlmaviva · 08/05/2019 20:12

I have two favourite salads but they're not necessarily low calorie. Will share anyway:

Cold roast chicken, chopped mango, feta cheese and pomegranate seeds. The high-calorie element here is the feta cheese, so you have to have less of it or a low-fat version.

Smoked salmon, avocado and pink grapefruit. The avocado is what adds the calories so you'd be better choosing a small one.

Chips you are right, if you avoid having bread/potatoes/rice, it brings down the calorie count, and you can have more vegetables/salad instead. Waitrose sell a bag of chopped sweet potato and squash which I substitute for potato sometimes. I roast it with a little olive oil and honey.

mammaplay · 08/05/2019 22:14

Thanks both for these suggestions, they all sound lovely.

Tonight I had a slow cooker lamb, chickpea and lentil curry but swapped the rice for cauli rice which is only 60 cals.

Have dug out my Davina smart carbs book for next weeks meals.

I’m down 2lbs this week. So I have half a pound to lose in the next two weeks. I’m finally under 10s again which makes me very happy. See, happy ===> Grin

mammaplay · 11/05/2019 16:55

Well done @WickedGoodDoge that's great.

I'm down 1lb (having lost the 2 I gained last weekend) which means I'm only 1.5lbs away from target and my happy weight.

Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks, and well done to you too!

RosinaAlmaviva · 12/05/2019 20:49

Well done WickedGoodDoge and mammaplay!

I wish I was doing as well, I really backslid this week! Combination of losing willpower towards the end of the day, and not enough exercise. Pilates tomorrow.

w33ta8ix · 13/05/2019 05:32

Moved house and lost the scales! Got a new pair finally this weekend, and weighed in at 9st 3 1/4. So 5lb down since Easter.

Have 5lb to go, so looking at the ideas on the thread for inspiration.

mamma do you make the caulk rice yourself? Whenever I’ve tried it always ends up a bit meh. Any tips?

mammaplay · 13/05/2019 10:10

@RosinaAlmaviva yes end of the day is a struggle. I have to use distraction techniques to avoid the sweet treats (like cleaning or reading).

@w33ta8ix I also tried to make cauli rice and it was disgusting but I found these frozen bags in Tesco which you microwave https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/297395359?sccmp=ppccGHS+-+Grocery+-+Repeat+&+DSDSPX+%7C+Shopping+GSC+%7C+Actives+%26+DS+%7C+All+Products+%2B+Tesco+BranddR+%26+DS:+F%26D:+Frozen+Food:+Frozen+FoododPRODUCTTGROUP297395359*&gclsrc=aw.ds&dsrl=1116019&dssrl=1116016&dsrl=1116019&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsMzL7pOY4gIVyJrVCh3TAg3sEAQYASABEgJ2SPDD_BwE]
I would only eat it with a sauce based meal though. Not sure if the link will work.

Well done on the all loses this week!

I'm down two myself now I've finished my period. I don't know if anyone follows James Smith on instagram but he did a really interesting video about weight loss for women and how it's heavily affected for two weeks of your cycle.

I've got just over 5 weeks till holiday and one big party this weekend but after that I should be able to keep on track!

I love calorie counting and how it means I don't feel guilty if I have a bit of cake on occasion!!!

w33ta8ix · 18/05/2019 06:34

Thanks for the tip mamma. Am off shopping today so will look out for that.

Just weighed in at 9st 1.1. I think that may be a bit flattering. I’ve done v little exercise this week.

WickedGoodDoge · 18/05/2019 12:23

Well done, both! I’ve maintained this week (9s 12.5lbs) which I expected with my period is due (better hurry up and get here as I want it done by next Saturday!!!!). I’ve had terrible terrible sleep this week- waking at 4:30 each morning and too tired for the gym most days. The joys of peri menopause.

My goal is to be 9s 12lbs by Saturday so even if this week goes haywire, I should be close to it.

w33ta8ix · 18/05/2019 14:50

Good luck wicked. (I don't know what I've posted on this thread to prompt it, but MN ads are now showing me longleat koala bears!)

mammaplay · 18/05/2019 18:01

Well done everyone, I've not been great this week so will be happy to have maintained (didn't weigh in this morning). I have kept up the exercise and have reduced my goal to lose 0.5lbs per week (so that i don't give up completely). I'm only 1.5lbs away from where i want to be so as long as i don't gain, all is good.

I'm also expecting my period so hopefully will start to lose again once it's over. Chips that James Smith video is really interesting. It makes a lot of sense to focus on weight loss for the first half of the cycle and maintaining for the second half.
