1500 cals a day/Clean Eating starting Tuesday

mammaplay · 18/04/2019 16:48

Hi all,

I'm intending to start 1500 cals a day "healthy eating plan" from Tuesday.

I've developed bad habits over winter and am mostly eating refined carbs with lots of sugary snacks. As a result, I have a pot belly, my clothes are tight and i'm feeling meh.

I've planned the next week's meals as roughly:

Tue: Muesli with raspberries, Cheddar salad, Chicken rice and veg
Wed: Bircher muesli, Mushroom & beans, Cod sweet potatoes and veg
Thur: Porridge, Soup, Tuna steak w couscous & salad
Fri: Special K, Salmon omelette, Pork with garlic & broccoli
Sat: Avacado on rye, Veggie humus with crudite, Steak & root veg
Sun: Egg and avocado, Mushroom omelette, Cauliflower Rice-Stuffed Peppers
Mon: Chicken sausages w beans, Mackerel salad, Turkey sweet potato chilli.

Anyone else doing anything similar?

I'm aiming to lose 5-7 lbs (but mostly tone up and feel better).

Morning everyone,
Hope the motivation is strong today.
I've had a banana instead of my usual biscuits with tea so far and my food plan for today is porridge for breakfast, greek salad for lunch and turkey and sweet potato chilli for dinner.

I've also started body brushing (it really helps reduce cellulite and I find it helps stick to the diet having to get close up and personal with the thighs first thing in the morning).
Also watched C4's "lose weight well" on catch up yesterday which was good. I only want to lose 4/5 lbs but would like to maintain (ideally permanently).
Fitted in a lovely dog walk this morning too so over half way to today's step goal of 14,000.

Posting for accountability. Also aiming for 1,200 + exercise

Ex: run 40 mins/7.25k

Food:
1 coffee with milk -50
1 small m&s side salad (48) plus beef slices (120)
1 apple (80)

Also a Diet Coke so not very clean!

Here’s to avoiding 4pm munchies and the office biscuit tin.

WickedGoodDoge · 23/04/2019 16:15

w33ta8ix I had a similar weighing shock, only add a stone to yours. I really thought I had just touched 10s a few weeks ago and was horrified to find it was actually 10s 8lbs!!! Am now at 10s 4lbs which is a little bit better, but still way over where I thought I was!

Have had 40g porridge made with milk plus loads and loads of blueberries, mixed salad with prawns and a cup of milky coffee so far. We’re having an Italian chicken in a sweet and sour sauce with chicory and scalloped potatoes for dinner, but I’ll have a small portion.

I also went to the gym and did a pump class. I don’t really like pump - I can never get the weights quite right.

MillieMoodle · 23/04/2019 17:58

Awful day at work today - no time for breakfast or proper lunch so had a donut in between meetings about 12pm, then two pieces of toast and butter as a mid-afternoon snack and got spag Bol for tea.

Have done next to no steps as have been chained to my desk and in and out of meetings all day. Office work is not at all conducive to a healthy lifestyle! If I can resist the chocolate and booze tonight, I'll count it as a win for day one I think. Tomorrow will be better...

ningaj · 23/04/2019 18:13

Toast and peanut butter for brekkie

Soup and bread for lunch

Veggie curry for tea

I need to curb my carbs but I love bread so much. My husband is veggie and I love meat so generally end up filling the void with carbs so I feel more satisfied.

YahBasic · 23/04/2019 18:27

Starting this morning at 11st 12. I’d like to lose about half a stone before my holiday in June.

Basically just whacking up the salad and veg content, although still got tons of Easter chocolate! As well as reducing portion sizes overall.

I’m allowing myself one weekend off in May, which is a mini hen with tons of snacks, pizza, Chinese, boozing etc.

iAteAllThePies86 · 23/04/2019 18:48

I've downloaded my fitness pal but it's just enraging me as I can't see how it can possibly track your calories from a meal or anything that isn't bar coded. How am I supposed to know how many calories were in the chicken salad I made? I can see how it could be a guide but not accurate unless something is pre packaged or labelled up. Useless for home cooked meals unless you're going to tot everything up which I don't have the time or inclination for.

Have literally only eaten a shit cereal bar and a wrap today and feel utterly starving. OH hasn't helped me with this app and I've just come upstairs and cried like a baby because I'm so hungry and fat 😭😭😭😭

w33ta8ix · 23/04/2019 19:00

Wicked- it was a bit of a wake up call!

Resisted the chocolate cake... but sucombed to sweet and salty popcorn.

My period started this afternoon so I’m attributing at least 2lb to that...

mammaplay · 23/04/2019 20:24

@iAteAllThePies86 it takes a while to get used to MFP but it helps as a general guideline on calories. An easier way might be to get one of Rosemary Conleys books from eBay as she has lots calorie contents in her books.

Breakfast - 2 weetabix, milk, honey
Snack - chocolate hobnob
Lunch - pasta salad thing from tesco (it was gross so didnt finish it and may have saved around 20 calories in doing so Grin)
Dinner - spaghetti and meatballs

C25k week 6 run 1 complete.

Quite pleased with how today has gone.

Well done everyone on today!

choc27 · 23/04/2019 20:35

@iAteAllThePies you need to weigh all your food if you are using mfp.
So today I had spaghetti and meatballs and weighed my 100g of spaghetti out first and cooked in a separate pan to everyone else's so I knew how how much i was getting.
And to weigh my milk I just put my cereal bowl on the scales and pour in the milk. Once you have done it once then it will be saved in your diary and you won't have to look it up every time.

ChipsAreLife · 24/04/2019 09:05

i ate all the pies you need to just spend time with it like the others say. You can type in most things and it comes up but they have to be spelt right to come up.

I stuck to 1200 yesterday and did an hours exercise so am just under a lb down by not eating chocolate excessively lol.

Aim this week is to get rid of Easter but it comes off so much slower than it goes on!

iAteAllThePies86 · 24/04/2019 09:06

Yeah I've decided not to bother with MFP, too much hassle for me. Today it's going to be cereal bar, tuna salad and steak with salad. Going to try very hard not to have a midweek gin tonight too!

How is everyone else doing today?

choc27 · 24/04/2019 19:54

How's everyone doing today?
Breakfast - weetabix
Snack - biscuit
Lunch - chicken and vegetable rice
Dinner - sausage, mash and veg

Going to try and do an exercise video on YouTube when kids are in bed.

RosinaAlmaviva · 24/04/2019 21:33

May I join you?

I've been trying to lose weight for literally years on and off, but mostly off because of stress eating. I usually do 1500 calories plus 300 calories of activity per day (which I don't eat back) and that has produced slow but steady weight loss in the past. My start weight yesterday was 171lb and my BMI is over 30. My first goal is 155lb. I usually stick at 160lb so would love to get there.

Have started in a weird place though as my period chose this week to arrive so I've lost three pounds overnight despite not doing any exercise. I expect to see gain by the end of the week but if I finish it lower than my start weight I'll be happy!

mammaplay · 24/04/2019 22:09

Yes welcome on board.

I am feeling smug today as have been very good, but I have meal/drinks with friends on Sat and a meal out on Sunday with no time for gym so will have to try very hard at the weekend.

I bought slimming world magazine yesterday to look at recipe ideas for next week. I find it more enjoyable having new meals to try (and I love the drastic weight loss stories which are always very emotional).

RosinaAlmaviva · 24/04/2019 22:31

Do you have a cheat day mammaplay? Mine is usually Sunday but if I'm having a meal out I will move the day so I can enjoy my meal.

I love reading weight loss stories too! In fact I've just remembered I used to read through stacks of DM's slimming magazines as a child, although I couldn't relate to them that well as I didn't start having weight issues until my late twenties.

Janethevirgen · 25/04/2019 12:03

ningaj try this book - parental-love.com/weight-loss/the-just-cut-it-method - Method or maybe approach and mindset showned there is perfect for everyone but proabably especialy for mums like us, who don't have time for themselfs. I was 12 st., in 4 months I lost 2 stones without sweeting and feeling hungry. One more ahead, acording to this method, I should achieve my goal in next 2 months :)

WickedGoodDoge · 25/04/2019 17:23

I’m having my usual, “It’s Thursday, I’ve not had anything sweet since Saturday, I want something sweet!!!!!!” thoughts, but I’m just ignoring them. Once I’ve hit my final target (9s 7lbs so 11lbs from now), I’ll have a cake/biscuit on Wednesday as well as Saturday’s which will stop these bloody cravings!

Went to the gym this morning- 30 minutes on the spin bike, 12 minutes rowing plus arm exercises and planking. Sticking to the diet- porridge, salad with prawns/chicken etc then small dinner. Tonight I’m having a bowl of muesli, though, because DH is out and DC have pasta which I don’t really fancy.

mammaplay · 25/04/2019 21:04

Hello,

I've just satisfied my desert craving with a siggis strawberry yogurt, 30% less sugar and surprisingly thick and creamy.
Managed 20k steps today and enjoyed my roast dinner (smaller portion than usual).

I don't have cheat days as I'm all or nothing. The minute I even have a single biscuit I throw in the towel and give up completely. Wish I had the will power for moderation.

Well done everyone so far. I'm weighing in tomorrow. Fingers crossed for some loss!

choc27 · 26/04/2019 18:25

Lost 1lb. Yay. It was only 3 days as well so quite pleased. Got 2 days of bad eating coming up with meals with friends so hope that doesn't ruin it.

mammaplay · 26/04/2019 18:55

Well done Choc. Are you hoping to lose 1lb per week for 5 weeks or do you reckon it will take longer?
Mine falls off for the first 2/3 weeks then I get stuck.
How long since everyone has been their target weight? Mine was last July/Aug.

choc27 · 26/04/2019 19:24

I'm hoping for 1lb a week for a couple of weeks then maybe half a lb a week. Not sure when I last was target weight, I'm up and down so often!

WickedGoodDoge · 26/04/2019 20:20

1lb in 3 days is great! I’m lucky if I manage that in a week.

I’ll weigh tomorrow morning. The last time I was my target weight was October. Well, my first target weight (9s 12lbs). It’s been about 18 months since I was final target weight (9s 7lbs).
