2019 is my year...

Or, should I say, my last year as an overweight blimp?

To be at the lower end of my ideal BMI weight, I have to lose HALF OF MY BODY WEIGHT!

This does not upset me.

It does not daunt me.

Eight stone is less than a stone a month for a year! Or 2.1lb a week.

I'm aiming for 1-2lb a week. I've made an excel spreadsheet, working out my TDEE, and aiming for 500-700 calories below it, per day. I've entered formulae in it, so it will change depending on my weight on that day.

I'll be utilizing MFP, but fucking off the "1200 calories" bollocks...I've actually set it up to "maintain my current weight" so it doesn't tell me off every day! 🤣

I'm also going to burn at least 200 calories a day doing things like walking, energetic house cleaning, etc. This will increase as my weight goes down, and my energy increases. Where I live, walking to the bus stop is more like a mile hike, as it's all uneven terrain and country lanes!

When I've lost the equivalent of two ankle-weights, I'm going to buy some- and wear them- so I'm still burning as many calories.

I've made a Pinterest board of clothes in my style, in a size 12. Also a list of "treats" for every time I hit 10lb loss.

And I'm going to order a full length mirror for the first time in a decade.

Truth
Transparancy
Total Overhaul.

I got this!

1.5lbs for me this week. Slowly slowly...

muddledmidget · 16/01/2019 15:34

Hi I know in late to the party but can I join you? I need to lose 2.5st and I want 2019 to be the year I stop writing lose weight as a New Years resolution. Weighed in on NYD at exactly 12st, which is exactly the same as 1/1/18! So last year was a write off!

Currently weigh 11st12.25 so only a small amount gone so far but at least it's a bit gone 🙄

Would really like to be 10st6 by 15/4 as we're heading off on adventure through Europe for a few months and I really want to look ok in the photos!

So starting from today, breakfast is going as I'm never really hungry in the morning and I'm going to try and reduce my snacking as I can get through 1000 calories easily in a day just in snacks! Also going to try and do my 10,000 steps daily, or at least aim for 70,000 over the week

Next weigh in is Saturday morning so will update then
MM

Theonewiththecat · 16/01/2019 18:42

Hi @muddledmidget. Welcome aboard.
I was like you with the snacks, but I'm trying so hard to reduce them down. I get really cross with myself when I don't manage my 10000 steps. Especially if I'm only a few hundred off.
Good luck for Saturday weigh in. 😀

ChubsyMcChubFace · 16/01/2019 19:23

Hello!

I’m also very late to the party, but could I also join you please?

I had to get weighed at the GPs recently and was horrified to find out I weigh 12 stone 4. I am tall, so it isn’t a disaster, but it is a good half stone more than I thought I was Sad. Damn you delicious Christmas food Grin.

I would like to lose 2.5 stone overall, but I’ll take a stone to begin with.

I am starting Jane Plan on Monday / Tuesday, (the giant box ‘o food arrives on Monday, so it may have to wait till Tuesday, unless it arrives early on).

Until then, I’m going to log everything on MFP and try to stick to 1500ish.

ObsidianViolet · 17/01/2019 14:04

Hey all can I join in? I weighed myself on Monday and I was 177lb so I'm wanting to lose 40lb, although instead of eating less I need to eat more as I hardly eat (usually a cup of coffee in the morning and dinner when the husband gets home) it's not that I refuse to eat I never feel hungry so I just forget to eat. Currently doing 30 minutes of exercise five days a week and hopefully I'll build it up to 60 minutes.

ChubsyMcChubFace · 17/01/2019 14:43

I can relate to that obsidian! I don’t find time to eat, but, (unlike you), I then get ravenous and stuff my face with whatever’s easiest to shove in; ie biscuits, bread, crisps Blush.

We have a very sociable weekend planned, with meals out etc, so will have to watch the calories there. I can’t drink wine at the moment, so that should help curb the calories a bit.

muddledmidget · 17/01/2019 16:06

A good day so far today. I didn't have any breakfast and had an omelette for lunch with pepper, mushrooms, onion, tomatoes and peas. And then went to the gym and did c25k wk2r1 which I didn't find too bad.

Amazingly not feeling hungry at the moment which is almost a shock to my system as since being on mirtazapine for 6 months at the beginning of last year hunger seems to be a constant feeling. Maybe I'm doing better with fewer carbs than I thought I would.

Hope everyone is having a good day

MM

Great start muddledmidget.

NoShelfElf · 17/01/2019 16:49

Is there room for 1 more??? You sound like a lovely bunch of people. I am too ashamed to weigh myself yet, but estimate I have 4 stone to lose, possibly slightly more. I am on the last notch on my belt and am down to 1 pair of jeans which fit. I have fallen into the snacking trap and eating children's left overs trap, eating same portions as husband trap, rewarding and commiserating with food or alcohol of both trap. This is 3 years of being a SAHM of twins with very little sleep and barely any time without them.
I've cut down my carbs. I am intending to ditch sugar. I will drink wine at the weekend and not worry too much about things but try to stay sensible (not 3 poppadoms!!) I have downloaded a hypnosis app for weight loss app which I fear is for people who want magical weight loss with no effort, but if it keeps me motivated, I'm happy to put the effort in. Kids are at nursery 15 hours now, so I can exercise too.
It's lovely to see that you're all progressing!

MrsScamander · 17/01/2019 21:34

theonewiththecat do you ever find the daily fluctuations demotivate you? All it takes for me is to see the scale going 1lb in the wrong direction and I beat myself up and self sabotage!

sellmysoul that's really good, well done 😄 slowly is the most sensible way (its just rubbish that I can't turn into a size 8 model overnight)

Hello to everyone who has just joined waves sorry my phone is rubbish and doesn't save my typed message if I go back to check usernames.

How's everyone getting on? Another good day for me, I've been reading weight loss stories in Slimming World mag (although I'm not following SW) and watching Obese Makeover with Chris Powell. Some of the weight loss stories are amazing, to lose half your body weight in 1 year 😲 just makes me wonder how sustainable it is, and how many people keep the weight off after the year is up.

And all the excess skin, a lot of the candidates have surgery for their excess skin, which makes me worry because I have so much to lose! I'm hoping steady weight loss and exercise will minimise the lose skin somewhat.

ObsidianViolet · 21/01/2019 11:09

Is anyone still out there??

Had my weigh in today and I've lost 2lb, although I also started my period this morning so I'm thinking I've probably lost more as I always put on an extra 3lb when I'm on my period.

How is everyone else getting on?

ChubsyMcChubFace · 21/01/2019 12:35

Hi obsidian!

I’m still here!

Very well done on the weight loss 👏. That’s a fantastic loss!

I haven’t weighed in yet, as I’m waiting for my Jane Plan stuff to arrive. Annoyingly, it’s delayed till tomorrow now, as they’ve had a lot more business lately. Which is great for them, but a bit irksome for me, as now I can’t really start till Wednesday. Oh well.

It’s a marathon, not a sprint etc.

I’m working on cutting down on alcohol and caffeine as well as watching calories today. I was reading a bit about how alcohol leads to weight gain even more than just the added calories, due to how it is metabolised and I also found out that tea and coffee can apparently have an effect on your blood sugar Confused.

Also, I ran into an old friend at the weekend who has never drunk alcohol or caffeine, or eaten red meat and she looks so gorgeous and glowy. So I’m trying to cut down on all those things too Grin.

MrsScamander · 21/01/2019 17:09

2lbs off for me today, so I'm pleased with that Smile

I've been trying to get 10,000 steps every day and enjoying taking the baby out on walks, putting my music in and daydreaming while she sleeps. Haven't quite managed 10,000 today or yesterday because life got in the way but will be resuming walks tomorrow!

I'm hoping to eventually get back to running as I loved it but I'm too embarrassed to go and do it at this weight (and my knees would hate it!)
