2019 is my year...

AFridgeTooFar · 27/12/2018 09:38

Or, should I say, my last year as an overweight blimp?

To be at the lower end of my ideal BMI weight, I have to lose HALF OF MY BODY WEIGHT!

This does not upset me.

It does not daunt me.

Eight stone is less than a stone a month for a year! Or 2.1lb a week.

I'm aiming for 1-2lb a week. I've made an excel spreadsheet, working out my TDEE, and aiming for 500-700 calories below it, per day. I've entered formulae in it, so it will change depending on my weight on that day.

I'll be utilizing MFP, but fucking off the "1200 calories" bollocks...I've actually set it up to "maintain my current weight" so it doesn't tell me off every day! 🤣

I'm also going to burn at least 200 calories a day doing things like walking, energetic house cleaning, etc. This will increase as my weight goes down, and my energy increases. Where I live, walking to the bus stop is more like a mile hike, as it's all uneven terrain and country lanes!

When I've lost the equivalent of two ankle-weights, I'm going to buy some- and wear them- so I'm still burning as many calories.

I've made a Pinterest board of clothes in my style, in a size 12. Also a list of "treats" for every time I hit 10lb loss.

And I'm going to order a full length mirror for the first time in a decade.

Truth
Transparancy
Total Overhaul.

I got this!

Morning Losers.

Happy New Year to all.

16 st 2 this morning - have been here before, usually shift the first stone easily enough, then get cocky.

I just wanna be a size 14. It's not much to ask!

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 11:20

Fiontar I'll make you a deal...you get me through the dreaded Day Four, and I'll kick you in the butt if you get all Jeremy Kyle (cocky git) on us in a few months. 🤣🤣🤣

Hi all, can I join in too please? 13st 9lbs and want to be 9.5 stone - I said the same thing last year and I weighed the same this time last year as I do now! But this time I honestly feel like I need to do it, things aren’t too happy in real life so I need at least one thing to be under control. I’ve added the people on here who have given their MFP names, hope that’s ok!

AFridgeTooFar · 01/01/2019 12:12

Rockchick you've just made me realise that I'm exactly the same weight as on NYD last year, too!

That's amazing!

I've eaten my own weight in Oreos, donuts, crisps...and still maintained! I'd have thought I'd be even heavier!

MrsScamander · 01/01/2019 20:54

I've lost 4 stone in the past, and another time lost 3 and a half stone (from the 4 stone + I gained back Blush) so I know I can do it. I just wish I didn't let myself get even bigger. I thought 17 stone was my lightbulb moment, apparently not!

Anyway, a good first day back on low carb, although now it's the evening this is my sweet treat time and I feel deprived without my usual stash of sugary crap.

Must get used to not having the sugar. And must also make myself drink more water, that's one thing I struggle with.

Went for a family walk today and struggled to keep up with my DD on her bike (she's new to cycling so not the quickest, which makes it worse!) Going to try taking her out for a bike ride every day this week while she's off and to get some exercise in!

Hope everyone else has had a fabulous day Smile

Chrissmasjammies · 01/01/2019 21:03

Right first day over. Mini goal for tues weigh in is 11:9 3 lbs loss not unrealistic for the first week. I didn't calorie count today just stuck to 3 meals and no snacks to wean off the sugar.
Fridge weight is a funny thing, definitely not linear, I seem to have set weight points that increase with age and pregnancy but I won't go much above them but won't lose without restricting. Really going to try and have 6 good days now before the 1 st weigh in. Met a friend today for lunch and resisted dessert

AFridgeTooFar · 02/01/2019 07:45

Oh of course, I know there'll be some weeks when I'll stall, or whatever? I'm prepared for that. If I put on weight yesterday, I also filled my body with all sorts of vitamins, and ate no junk!

I'm looking forward to Monday. I'd like to experiment with a few snacks and "dippy things" (including attempting to "breadcrumb" something with nutritional yeast for Junk Food Week. I'll explain about that later). I can't really do this atm, as everyone is still off school/work. DH goes back tomorrow, and the DC go back on Monday. I'm not back in the office until next Thursday.

We have one of those houses with a tiny lounge and a huge kitchen, so everyone hangs out in there! I can't pretend to be Nigella with people watching! I've been cooking "unmessy" batch stuff, but by the time I've finished experimenting, the place will look like a bomb's hit it...not practical when there's people around 🤣

So...junk food week. In a fortnight.

On the week of my period, I'll crave crap, basically! Bread, pasta, you name it. So I'm messing about with recipes for "creamy pasta" (made with courgetti for the pasta, vegan creme fraiche and mushrooms) burger, chips and beans (a Portobello mushroom for the "bun" and sweet potato fries. I've got this down to under 600 calories, so I'll be having a light meal for my other meal) and even make chips? All while staying under my calorie, nutrition and carb goal. It's going to be full on, but I'll only have to do it once iyswim? And I WILL be weighing. I'll expect a gain anyway, with the painters being in, and I don't really care. If I then see the same gain the next month, I'll know how much I gain in those weeks.

So...yesterday was a triumph for me, IMO. I skipped breakfast- I always do.

Lunch was a sweet potato, vegan cream cheese, and a fuckload of spinach and broccolli.

My dinner was AMAZING! I'm definitely eating it agsin on my JFW. I made a stew with LM chorizo and red onion sausages, tomatoes, shallots and mushrooms, thinking it would be enough for one portion. We had to split it into two, because it was massive! The paprika from the chorizo flavored the tomatoes, and it was fucking divine! I had it with cauli rice.

I also had to force some stuff down, just to up my calories to an acceptable level. I had a massive coffee made with hazelnut milk, and a few spoonfuls of peanut butter. Not ideal, but it did the job.

Even from the first day, I'm learning stuff. I've realized that most of my calories before came from snacks and shite! I wasn't even hungry when I ate dinner, I just ate it because I "had to"...because I would have only consumed about 550cals all day if I hadn't.

I want to stick to two meals a day. I don't WANT to snack. If I do, I'll go for it. And an overhaul is just that- a massive change! So I'll be thinking of ways to incorporate more calories into the two meals I do eat. (Lentils in tomato based food, nuts in curries, etc).

I would obsessed, don't I? Well...good! Because I feel it's what I have to be! I've got to immerse myself totally into it. Or I won't know enough not to fall back into bad habits!

I've learned more about diet, about nutrition, and about me!- in the last week, than I've learned in forever!

Off to tweak today's menu now!

It's true it takes laser like focus/mild obsession to hit the targets week after week. But it's totally possible and do able. My husband went back today as well and I'm off till Monday. Continuing new years clear out/declutter to set myself up for success! Thinking of summer and 2 stone off and no such more enjoyable life will be #eyeontheprize

AFridgeTooFar · 02/01/2019 09:11

I have an obsessive mind! I was always going to go "all in" iyswim?

Does anyone here have any experience with Aspergers, who would be able to explain the "obsessive" side without waffling on, like I do?

It's situations like this which make me grateful for my Weird Wiring! 🤣💥

How's it going everyone?
I've seriously cut down on my fizzy drinks, I'm having 1 can a day at lunch time, (Instead of over 2l a day) and I'm not missing it too much.

SellMySoulForMoreSleep · 08/01/2019 22:00

Hey everyone - how did the first weigh ins go? I lost 2.6lbs which I was happy with as wasn't doing it 100% last week but I am on it now! 😁

MrsScamander · 08/01/2019 22:10

5lbs lost for me, which is usual for a first week of healthy eating ☺️
In other news, I think my 5 year old is a feeder, every time she had something I couldn't eat (sweets, chocolate, fruit) she was asking me if I wanted to share! Was nose deep in a little bowl of midget gems savouring the glorious smell but I managed to say no.
Obviously she asks me to share because I'm constantly asking to share her treats 🐷 she's never normally so willing to share!

Keeping my fingers crossed that next week I have another loss, the last time I did low carb I lost the first 5lbs and then absolutely nothing despite sticking to it religiously!

Well done on the lost sellmysoul how much are you wanting to lose in total?

Theone Well done on cutting out the fizzy drinks, I miss diet Pepsi but I haven't had any the past week, sticking to boring healthy water!

Hope everyone is doing good 😄

Theonewiththecat · 09/01/2019 07:16

I've lost 5lbs this week. Let's see if I can lose anything next week, 3lb would be nice, then I will be under 15st for the first time in about 2 years 🤔.

@mrsscamander I know how you feel, Dd is always trying to share her sweets with me. They are lasting her alot longer now though funnily enough 😂

SellMySoulForMoreSleep · 09/01/2019 07:29

I need to lose 4 stone in all so I am hoping for a much better week this week! Well done on your 5lbs losses - that's amazing!! 😁 my DSs never want to share their sweets so I can't blame them! 😂

MrsScamander · 14/01/2019 11:20

I'm (wishfully hoping) to lose 10 stone 😲 I do know how I got so big, I just wish I could go back in time before I got so out of control and inhaled all the sugar!

Weigh in day for me, and I managed to resist the midweek sneaky weigh in. I always give in to temptation to weigh myself halfway through the week as I feel I'm doing good. I see a loss and think "by my official weigh in day I'll have lost even more!" and then on official weigh in day I'll be exactly the same. Cue crushing disappointment and demotivation! So I'm being strict with only weighing on Mondays.

Anyway, to the point, I lost 3lbs this week! I'm so relieved to be going in right direction and my first goal is to lose 17lbs, I have been crossing the lbs off in my diary and watching lots of inspiring programmes on YouTube for motivation.

Hope everyone is well and getting on ☺️

Theonewiththecat · 16/01/2019 09:49

@Mrsscamander I weight myself every morning, Just incase miracles happen and I happen to lose 4st over night. 😂😂
Weighed in this morning at bang on 15st so that's 2lbs lost this week.
I'm feeling better, a can comfortably sit with my legs crossed (like we used to at school) and my jeans are feeling loose.
Let's see what the next week brings.
Good luck everyone.

DavetheCat2001 · 16/01/2019 11:38

@AFridgeTooFar - how are you getting on?
