Oh of course, I know there'll be some weeks when I'll stall, or whatever? I'm prepared for that. If I put on weight yesterday, I also filled my body with all sorts of vitamins, and ate no junk!
I'm looking forward to Monday. I'd like to experiment with a few snacks and "dippy things" (including attempting to "breadcrumb" something with nutritional yeast for Junk Food Week. I'll explain about that later). I can't really do this atm, as everyone is still off school/work. DH goes back tomorrow, and the DC go back on Monday. I'm not back in the office until next Thursday.
We have one of those houses with a tiny lounge and a huge kitchen, so everyone hangs out in there! I can't pretend to be Nigella with people watching! I've been cooking "unmessy" batch stuff, but by the time I've finished experimenting, the place will look like a bomb's hit it...not practical when there's people around 🤣
So...junk food week. In a fortnight.
On the week of my period, I'll crave crap, basically! Bread, pasta, you name it. So I'm messing about with recipes for "creamy pasta" (made with courgetti for the pasta, vegan creme fraiche and mushrooms) burger, chips and beans (a Portobello mushroom for the "bun" and sweet potato fries. I've got this down to under 600 calories, so I'll be having a light meal for my other meal) and even make chips? All while staying under my calorie, nutrition and carb goal. It's going to be full on, but I'll only have to do it once iyswim? And I WILL be weighing. I'll expect a gain anyway, with the painters being in, and I don't really care. If I then see the same gain the next month, I'll know how much I gain in those weeks.
So...yesterday was a triumph for me, IMO. I skipped breakfast- I always do.
Lunch was a sweet potato, vegan cream cheese, and a fuckload of spinach and broccolli.
My dinner was AMAZING! I'm definitely eating it agsin on my JFW. I made a stew with LM chorizo and red onion sausages, tomatoes, shallots and mushrooms, thinking it would be enough for one portion. We had to split it into two, because it was massive! The paprika from the chorizo flavored the tomatoes, and it was fucking divine! I had it with cauli rice.
I also had to force some stuff down, just to up my calories to an acceptable level. I had a massive coffee made with hazelnut milk, and a few spoonfuls of peanut butter. Not ideal, but it did the job.
Even from the first day, I'm learning stuff. I've realized that most of my calories before came from snacks and shite! I wasn't even hungry when I ate dinner, I just ate it because I "had to"...because I would have only consumed about 550cals all day if I hadn't.
I want to stick to two meals a day. I don't WANT to snack. If I do, I'll go for it. And an overhaul is just that- a massive change! So I'll be thinking of ways to incorporate more calories into the two meals I do eat. (Lentils in tomato based food, nuts in curries, etc).
I would obsessed, don't I? Well...good! Because I feel it's what I have to be! I've got to immerse myself totally into it. Or I won't know enough not to fall back into bad habits!
I've learned more about diet, about nutrition, and about me!- in the last week, than I've learned in forever!
