Join me for that last half stone?

I've been carrying an extra half stone since my holiday this time last year. I keep doing a halfhearted effort and Lasting just a day or two.

Anyone want to join me for a bit of accountability?

Here's why I want to lose weight:

  1. all my clothes feel better
  2. all my clothes look better
  3. I sleep better
  4. I have more energy
  5. it makes me happy
  6. Ir makes me healthy
  7. it sets a good example to my daughter.

Re the last one pre children I was 6 atone overweight. I can see some of those bad habits coming back at the moment and really really don't want her to pick up on them.

What am I going to do?

  1. fill in and stick to mfp
  2. restart c210k and run 3 times per week.

Come and join me!

Hi Hercules the oats and fibrous carbs work to block any cholesterol in food so liver takes cholesterol from my blood instead thus reducing blood cholesterol. If I didn't have elevated cholesterol to start with - part genetic part lchf diet I think - your idea would be spot on. There is some thought that high cholesterol isn't a problem if blood pressure is ok but I'd rather be safe than sorry ATM.

Hello all. Pug walls my day often looks like that too - the odd little snack here and there!

Today is
B - all bran, yoghurt, berries, honey and oj
L - sunshine salad and celery soup
T - chicken casserole.

Really need to go for a run tonight as I'll struggle to hit 10K steps otherwise and I sit a lot at work.

Hello. May I join you (without feeling like I'm chearing on my regular thread Blush)

I have lost 4 stone over the last 2 years and am a healthy weight and have got pretty fit. I just can't quite seem to shift this last half stone. I've been fannying around with losing two, gaining two for nearly a year now and I'm bored. I just want it gone

I try to stick to 1200 cals on MFP and do 10k steps a day.

Today I've already hit that as I've been to a class at gym. I've had egg on toast for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch and dinner is already made - turkey and pea keema with cauli rice.

PugwallsSummer · 17/04/2018 17:59

Another bad day! I'm full of cold and craving comfort food 😫

Weetabix with honey and an apple
Small cheese sandwich (from child's menu in a cafe), satsuma, cappuccino
Ham hock & leek wellington, chips, peas
Slice cheesecake 😳

Silvertap · 17/04/2018 20:07

Hi Bitout. Nice to have you here.

I haven't made it out for my run Blushannoy d with myself but didn't finish chores till 7.45 and it's windy and I'm a wimp!

I did do 10K steps though.

Thanks Silvertap

I'm also full of cold, plus due on so I'm nibbly too. Plus BF had a shit day yesterday so we went to the pub instead of the gym last night Blush although in fairness I had already been once in the morning

Planning on steely determination toady

abitoflight · 18/04/2018 07:59

First 2 days pretty good I think - within mfp and not used any exercise calories
Switching to black/ green teas was a relatively easy way for me to keep calories down from milk - usually 150 calories from 300ml semiskilled throughout the day
Today will be more difficult as meeting a friend for early wine and it will be a faff if I keep having to go to bar for g and t's instead
Salmon and broccoli left over from last night for lunch
Now off to calculate calories in my chilli con carne for tonight..

cheeseandpineapple · 18/04/2018 13:34

Hello, this thread caught my eye and has spurred me into action as I’d like to shift 6-7 pounds!

My downfall is savory snacks like crisps and nuts but I’ve just discovered kale crisps and they’re not a bad substitute. A handful/cup of fresh kale is about 34 calories. Massage with a little bit of olive oil (a tablespoon is around 100 calories I think so just use a bit) and season, bake on baking sheet in oven at 130 degrees for around 10-15 minutes, until crisp.

I love raw kale too but it might not be for everyone!

BitOutOfPractice · 18/04/2018 13:49

I love most veg but I can't stand kale. I wish I liked it like I wish I liked porridge but I just can't do it.

I'm having a good day so far though the gym was hard work in this heat

Silvertap · 18/04/2018 20:00

Hi cheese and pineapple - great name!

I make a really nice kale salad with balsamic vinegar, pine nuts, dried cranberries and Parmesan. I also love kale crisps.

Ok day today

B - all bran, gk yoghurt, berries and honey
L - roasted sweet potato salad
T - whipped up a pasta salad as it was so hot I didn't fancy the risotto I had planned!

Oh and 15k steps which isn't too bad for me for a work day.

Not getting out for a run as much as I'd like. Weve moved to a house with a massive garden that needs a tonne of upkeep and I find myself gardening when I would have gone for a run.

Yesterday ended with a takeaway curry for family birthday. Stuck to chicken tikka starter spoon of veg curry and rice... And half a nan bread Blush Managed 22,000 steps so hopefully not fatal

Today
B oatbran, soya yogurt and raspberries
L tuna, egg and edamame bean salad
D chicken, ratatouille and veg
S apple, oatcakes and houmous, soya milk for tea

Finished today at around 1300 calories and 16,000 steps. Not bad as at work today. Too sunny so binned idea of gym tonight.

Feeling a bit bloated and tired maybe from eating oat bran for breakfast as I've been used to eggs and yogurt recently. Trying to up water intake and avoiding the scales for a while whilst body adjusts.

cheeseandpineapple · 18/04/2018 22:35

Thanks Silvertap, I’m named after one of my other favourite snacks! the kale salad sounds lovely, will have to try that. Only 2000 steps for me today as I’ve been working from home and barely been out. Will have to ramp up tomorrow.

BitOutOfPractice · 18/04/2018 23:36

Today I've had:

B: pikelets plus a Skyr yogurt
L: chicken satay with a big salad and a tiny spoon of coleslaw
D: Thai chicken curry with zero noodles

abitoflight · 19/04/2018 07:58

Day 4
Change to teas that don't require milk has been easier than I thought.
Started logging my recipes in mfp so my portion of chilli con carne came in at 176 calories so had that with cauliflower rice (frozen from Aldi v convenient)
Not working today and hope to get in 15k steps

Weighed in two pounds down today. Hoorah!
B oatmeal porridge, soya yogurt and raspberries
L salad of some sort. Will be out
D veg chilli and cauliflower kale rice bag from Iceland.
Snacks apple, oatcakes and houmous if hungry and soya and oat milk in decaffeinated drinks.

Also aiming for 16/8 - so today eating between 11 and 7 tonight. Intermittent fasting supposed to help all sort of blood issues and psychologically it stops me munching the night away.
Hope everyone is enjoying some sunshine - helps keep me motivated on my summer wardrobe definitelySmile

Rassy · 20/04/2018 13:38

Gymtonic- 16/8 really interests me as try to eat my tea at 5pm ish Monday to Thursday and then not eat. I would only be able to manage a Tuesday and Thursday though as run Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Would that kick start my system in trying to lose half a stone?

Gymntonic · 20/04/2018 14:04

I'm no expert rassy but I guess it can't do anything but good

abitoflight · 21/04/2018 12:30

Down 5lb on scales this morning
Managing 10000 steps a day so far
B 2 cups tea with milk (my only ones of the day)
L leftover vegetarian curry
D pork chilli and lime kebabs with salad
Plus Pinot Grigio and some gin later

Gymntonic · 21/04/2018 13:09

Don't know if it would work for you rassy but I am finding 15/9 is more realistic for me and I've read 14/10 is supposed to work for a lot of women. I don't eat before I run in the morning. Just water or tea or coffee with milk substitute. But I do need to eat when I get back as I'm starved and need to settle to work. So have breakfast between eight and nine - at home or in car before a meeting- then aim to finish eating by six. At weekend it's more likely to be breakfast between 10 and 11 and dinner between 7 and 8.
Another half a pound down today 😁

Well I'm very demoralised here
Lost well in first week or so
Now despite sticking to mfp guidelines and being well under some days and doing 10000 steps a day, I haven't lost for 8 days 😪
I'm high in protein and low in carbs (17g on some days and never over 40)
What's wrong??
