Join me for that last half stone?

Silvertap · 05/04/2018 06:47

I've been carrying an extra half stone since my holiday this time last year. I keep doing a halfhearted effort and Lasting just a day or two.

Anyone want to join me for a bit of accountability?

Here's why I want to lose weight:

  1. all my clothes feel better
  2. all my clothes look better
  3. I sleep better
  4. I have more energy
  5. it makes me happy
  6. Ir makes me healthy
  7. it sets a good example to my daughter.

Re the last one pre children I was 6 atone overweight. I can see some of those bad habits coming back at the moment and really really don't want her to pick up on them.

What am I going to do?

  1. fill in and stick to mfp
  2. restart c210k and run 3 times per week.

Come and join me!

Hello all. Good day today for me. I was on fire at work and have stuck to mfp cals. No time to exercise as Church meeting tonight but at least it looks like it's going to stop raining over the next few days so I can get out in the garden!!

Hercules I often 'accidentally' eat chocolate!!

Down to 10.3 for me today which I'm chuffed with. I aim to be 9.10. I've just realised I need to lose half a stone still!

Mushrooms on toast for breakfast today
Ham bagel for lunch and paprika chicken for tea.

So much for the gardening it's wet miserable and foggy today!

OP posts:
Silvertap · 11/04/2018 17:30

It was paprika pork not paprika chicken but I won't be making that again. Tasteless stringy mush.

Ergh. We had to fill up in pancakes instead. Amazingly I'm still within mfp cals. Have done 10K steps. Can't g t out for a run as dp working late. Sad

Everyone out of hospital and doing fine. Logging on mfp not exactly been a priority but to be honest didn't get chance to eat much and lost my appetite. Still on holiday so will just keep on until Sunday, weigh in at home and start again.
Hope everyone is doing well. Inspired by the talk of exercise. Might try and find time for a little run.

Silvertap · 14/04/2018 07:22

Well I disappeared and ate a food mountain over the last two days. We had a day out in London with lots of buffet food included. Then yesterday because I was tired I ate a mountain of pasta and a fair bit of chocolate.

So yet again I've been good for a couple of days and then sabotaged it. I have 7 clear days now. If I can just do 7 days I think I'll get on a bit of a roll.

So today's plan. Go for a run. Bit of gardening.
B - egg on toast
L - salad
T - homemade pizza and salad.

Can I join in too! Summer clothes don't fit - and it's really depressing me. I only really need to lose half a stone, although more would be good. Current weight 10 stone, I like to think I'm a size 10, but realistically a 12.. 5ft 6in. and would love to be back to 9.5 stone, or less. BUT I am a rubbish dieter. Don't know how to count calories. Crazy high pressure working life and mum to 12yo DS and 8 yo DD, and DH with mental health problems, means I find it hard to plan ahead - and end up raiding the fridge for late night snax. Mainly cheese, and a beer. Sigh... So I really need to get ON this and feel better about myself and a little better about myself. Straightforward dieting ideas gratefully received!

Silvertap · 16/04/2018 07:11

Morning Goodenough and welcome. I'm 10.6 and want to be 9.6 really so similar to you. Also kid myself I'm a 10 still!!

So. Back to school and work routine this morning so time for a fresh start.

B - all bran, Greek yoghurt, berries and honey
L - hairy dieters chicken and braised lentils
T - salad if the weather stays this nice and sunny!

Ok have stepped on scales this morning. Just half a pound up.
DC doing well and loves being pushed around in wheel chair so some extra exercise there. Am wah for a bit obviously so meal plan today
B egg and low protein toast
L tuna and chick pea salad.
Snack plain yogurt and berries, apple
Dinner something with chicken breasts

Got out of habit of drinking lots of water. Need to make an effort today
Have a good day everyone

abitoflight · 16/04/2018 08:00

Just back from hols so can I join today pls?
Packing for holiday, I had to leave out my 2 favourite shift dresses as I am now too big
My summer trousers will not fit unless I shift some weight
First weigh in 9stone 5
Aim is 8 stone 3 then to level out at about 8 stone 5
Using mfp and low carb within calories
Off for quick 5000 steps now before work

Twixes · 16/04/2018 08:44

Also not doing amazingly here. No change on Friday for my weigh in.

Plan today is:
Large full fat capp for breakfast.
Flat white mid morning (sleep deprivation!)
Soup and salad for lunch
No idea yet for dinner

Goodenoughisgoodenough · 16/04/2018 11:13

So today's diet 'plan'

  • breakfast - coffee and an apple
lunch - Waitrose Sushi (an extravagant treat, I know, but involves half hour walk from office, so feel extra virtuous) Tea - Not sure yet, big salad and a piece of fish maybe? So probably quite a good day, but not sure how sustainable!
Silvertap · 16/04/2018 11:31

Hi Abit. I'm impressed you can fit in 5k steps before work!

Twixes - keep mainlining that coffee

OP posts:
Silvertap · 16/04/2018 11:33

Goodenough I love a bit of sushi. It's a nice healthy treat.

I've spent the morning cooking. A new 'sunshine salad' recipe for the next few days supper. A roast chicken with braised lentils for lunch and a celery soup for the freezer for leftovers.

I work 3 days a week and my working days are quite long so I cook up enough to last. Feeling rather virtuous now!

Just had results from recent cholesterol test. Looks like I will have to rethink my low carb high fat approach. Back to oats and soya products for me. Shame as I was enjoying a bit of cheese and full fat cream and I have lost a stone since Xmas. Maybe something like the blood sugar diet with MFP would work?

abitoflight · 16/04/2018 22:27

@Gymntonic
How much are you planning to lose? Sorry about your cholesterol
I think low sugar and mfp sounds a decent plan in the circumstances
I'm doing low carb, hi protein and mfp
I've found a low calorie Pinot Grigio if that interests you? It's v low carb - so low in fact that I'm not sure it's correct Hmm

Hi flight aiming for 9 pounds. Sadly I think alcohol is going to have to be more or less out if I've got any chance of losing that quickly on a higher carb diet. Maybe the odd gin and diet tonic.
Have been getting my head around switching from low carb high fat to lots of oats, pulses, fibrous fruit and low saturated fat. One reason that lchf worked for me was that I'm not keen on fatty meat etc and it suppressed my appetite. So I wasn't that interested in the food available but I wasn't hungry either. However, I can eat a bucket load of fruit and healthy wholewheat carbs. I love wholemeal bread and oatcakes. I also get the munchies more on a carby diet so need to factor in snacks. Much more need for willpower and calorie counting IME. Keen to avoid statins though so for today:
B soya yogurt, oat bran, raspberries
L tuna egg salad
D chicken in tomato veg casserole thing, lots more veg
S apple and almond butter, oatcakes and houmous

Managed 16,000 steps yesterday partly due to a bit of a run. Need to find some time for yoga/Pilates at home as I can't get to my regular class ATM and I need to keep stretching or end up injured from running.

Hercules it's cold enough here for soup again. Might see what rotting in my veg tray tooWink

Can I join in? Only 3Ib to go but finding it really hard to motivate myself and starting to fall back into bad habits!

Yesterday I had:

Weetabix with honey and a satsuma
Banana
Wholemeal sandwich with cheese & cucumber and an apple
A caramel wafer 😳
Small Homemade cheese & tomato pizza
Mini magnum 😳
Packet of animal biscuits with a cup of tea before bed 😳

As you can see, things deteriorate in the evening - so I'm going to try to be aware of that today.

Goodenoughisgoodenough · 17/04/2018 10:32

Good day yesterday (I think) . lunch sushi, dinner homemade fish pie, minimal butter etc, small portion with salad. Only stole one slice of cheese from fridge.
Bit worried about today though! Only a coffee so far. BUT am about to get on train to London for work day, not back til 8pm, and will be dependent on train sandwiches and takeaway stuff etc...Should have planned ahead!
