You don't need luck shadow, you need a plan and a dose of consistency😉 You're welcome, dig in and share.
Well done caggie, yes of course you'll stick to your plan (self fulfilling prophecy😬)
Good day here too, walk with bigger dd and then lovely lunch, card games with the 2 and then finished watching the HM's tale - too scary. Few glasses of 🍷so feeling no pain

Hi all - another Monday and back to drink free existence. Did the gym and jog this morning, now to just get a decent deficit after going over quite spectacularly on the weekend😩 What is it with weekends?
Working on accepting I'm not hungry, I'm just greedy. Water water water that might help. I'm bloated up to feck as well after a salty Chinese on Saturday and some leftovers last night...
How's everyone feeling for the week ahead?

OP posts:
caggie09 · 14/08/2017 19:50

Ive had a good Monday here! 4 days in a row🎉 Weighing everyday atm, and my fluctuation weight is around 11.1/2. First thing in the morning im 10.13! 4 more days to behave and a treat night😳 Is it bad i have planned what food ill be eating on my day off? I seen a salted caramel tart in m&s i could demolish, so thinking about that for my treat. Ending on 1512. Day out tomorrow so need to keep on the straight and narrow!!

Not2bObvious · 15/08/2017 07:24

That sounds like a winning streak you're on caggie. Question though, what do you mean you're x weight but y weight first thing? Do you not apply weigh in first thing in the altogether after a pee (& with luck, ahem, a poo?) That's your weight and so you're 10.13 you lucky thing🎉
As for planning a decadent treat, I think that's a great idea, not sad at all.
Well that's the last fecking Chinese I'm having, bloated all the way to 11.9.6 yesterday from Friday's 11.5.6, down to 11.8.4 but that's just stupid. There's flux and there's what the f**ks😡 I will motor on working hard for Friday - abut bunged stillso no doubt that's part of it.

Welcome back Bath and Over and welcome anyone newer than me Smile

Dawhead you didn't bring the tone down or kill the thread. I love your essays and really admire how you are being conscious of your food triggers.

Not I'm sure you'll be back to your skinny Minnie 11 5, exercise toned self in no time Wink

The last few weeks have been busy and a bit stressful & this week is turning out to be the same. I'm finding it bit more challenging to eat properly AND exercise. I've only got 3 lbs to lose but I don't think they will be going away anytime soon!

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 15/08/2017 09:09

Gazelda welcome and you've been doing brilliantly so far - do you feel better for it? I would go with Not's expertise on the water - I aim for 6 glasses during the work day but don't always manage it, but I think 2l is the minimum recommended.

Oh spouse there's nothing worse than fluctuations on the scales but if you had put on 4 you would have been a medical miracle Grin. I bet in a few days you will get a whoosh and those 3 will be nearly gone too Flowers

Not it's so brilliant that you're able to face a gym AND jog on a Monday morning - it sounds so positive. And there's no way you've gained that much - another day or two and it will definitely disappear again - it's annoying for sure though Angry. Lots of water like you said (and...ahem...I can recommend bran flakes if you want to make anything happen faster Wink).

Good luck Shadow come back and tell us how you're doing Wink

Caggie well done on another well-behaved Sunday - you're on a brilliant streak. You will definitely be in the 10s (permanently) at WI this week woohoo.

Ah Porcus if you're maintaining through all the stress and busy-ness then that's a great achievement in itself. Are you still logging in MFP? I find that is even hard sometimes when the stress hits.

I won't bore you all with my many transgressions, but my weekly average with 1 day to go is 1998 Sad. I haven't binged and I've been having healthy dinners, but I've just been eating a lot every day (ha! - stating the obvious). I hoped yesterday would be ok, but TOTM arrived a few days early which I used as an excuse to feel sorry for myself and eat a lot again. I am just hoping I won't have gained tomorrow but it's not looking good - I really need to get myself out of this pattern. I do feel ok today - first time I've woken up feeling rested in ages so hope it's a good sign and that I can cut back today.

Cupofteaandtoilet · 15/08/2017 09:49

May I join in? I'm bursting to tell someone! Have not admitted my weight to anyone - took me a while to get on the scales and face it myself. At my heaviest I weighed 12st 10 (at 5' 3" this was quite a lot Sad). Have been to weight watchers and did quite well but lost my mojo. Started MFP at 10st 7 in mid June. Am now 9st 6!!! I am under 9 and a half stone for the first time in over ten years - probably more like 12 years. My waist is now healthy under 30" and I feel amazing. I have been so worried about my health and feel an enormous weight has lifted (literally and figuratively). I would dearly love to get down to my racing weight of around 8st 7 and will continue to monitor calories in, calories out forever.

Good luck to everyone - this really does work Grin

Not2bObvious · 15/08/2017 11:02

Welcome and v well done cup, that's really impressive. Less than a stone to go, that must be a super feeling. You'll have to let us in on your secrets😉
One day at a time daw, only go forward no looking back. Totm was dreadful for me cause I'd binge and I'd bloat - but I think I I've turned it around, next week will tell!
Only 3lb porcus, yes that could be challenging. I'm assuming you have a specific number as it's vanity poundage, always the hardest to lose (sez she who's never fully managed to lose the actual fat'baggage to even get close to vanity!)

Oh dear, really struggling today. V picky today and tired too, no interest in doing any exercise and my Fitbit is showing shockingly poor calorie burn. Haven't had an off day in a while, think it's cause I woke at stupid o'clock, eventually fell back asleep but then felt like death warmed over. Need to rouse myself to go for a quick run when himself gets home

OP posts:
caggie09 · 15/08/2017 18:15

Cup That is amazing! My target is around 9st 7 so its close to your weight now! Id also like to know these secretsGrin

My day out started well, then ikea happend. Cake and fries! And now im home after travelling its a takeaway for tea. Still hovering around the 10st13 mark today so fingers crossed for Friday😊

EmilyDickinson · 15/08/2017 18:47

Joining in. I did MFP about two years ago when I found that I was 1.5 stone over the weight I think I should be. I was spurred into it by seeing photos in which I looked really podgy. I got down to my target weight in about three months but having reached it went back to overeating and did MFP once I was about 0.5 stone overweight. Since then (about a year ago) the weight has crept back on and I need to trim down while it's not a huge hill to climb. I have 10lb to lose and I know with MFP I can get there. I think that I really need to incorporate some exercise into my life so that I can indulge in puddings, wine etc. I'm fine doing the limited calories while I'm trying to lose weight, but once I do I find it hard to forgo treats.

The things that helped me doing MFP before were:

A decent and filling breakfast every day (porridge), which helps stop me from snacking during the morning. (About 350 calories)

Soup for lunch. The ones I get come in at about 150 calories per portion.

That then leaves me plenty to play with for dinner.

I'm going back to mint tea (no calories) as my daytime drink. I usually have lots of tea but the milk adds up if you have several cups.

I found last time that I sometimes had enough calories to have a glass or wine OR a pudding OR a couple of biscuits. But not more than one of these. I'd really like to have all three.

I'm on day two and doing okay. I've got a couple of social events coming up that is like to look good for which is a powerful motivator.

Not2bObvious · 16/08/2017 05:41

Ahh the cursed ikea cafe caggie, it's felled stronger than us all (shakes head sorrowfully at thoughts of meatballs & daim cake)
I had a disastrous day yesterday, I went off my head and ate all, not some, all the food. Barely moved, like a big greedy sloth I was. Nearly 1300 calories over my tdee and today the scales rewarded me with 11.9
Well there's no way in the world I'll get back to 11.5.6 by Friday as I'm that full of grease & chocolate it'll take days to go. Dragged myself out of bed to do my bootcamp and I'm not one bit enthusiastic about it, but I'll go. I haven't had a bad binge day in some time, maybe it's mandatory🤔
Welcome emily, I'll take a leaf out of your book and have porridge when I get back. Today's going to have to be perfect

OP posts:
Cupofteaandtoilet · 16/08/2017 11:09

Hi all. I believe my success is due to:

  1. always staying around 1200 calories, no matter what temptations jump in front of me. Including weekends. Perhaps a bit dull but I'd rather achieve my target sooner than have indulgent weekends.

  2. eat the same thing for breakfast & lunch each day, then have a more interesting dinner.

  3. some form of exercise everyday (run, row, yoga, body pump) plus dog walks.

  4. no alcohol. At all. Not a drop has passed my lips since June 14th.

  5. Target date (holiday), excel spreadsheet with chart showing daily weight and trend line.

Sometimes the switch clicks to on as mine has at the moment. Who knows why! But I'm so pleased it has.

Not2bObvious · 16/08/2017 15:45

No surprise you've lost what you have following those rules, you're very single minded, well done. When you reach your goal do you think you'll continue to calorie count for a while and if so how many calories do you reckon you need to maintain?
Did my BC and then a 5k jog, back in the zone. Food input into mfp and sitting around 1400, room for wriggle😉

OP posts:
Porcus · 16/08/2017 19:00

I'm still tracking Dawhead but it's a bit of an effort. I've been over by approx 150 each day but not too concerned. I'm also making sure I'm doing at least 10 min exercise plus a minimum of 8000 steps a day. I was getting a bit overwhelmed trying to fit in exercise the last few weeks so just aiming for a small amount. I'll often do more once I get startedGrin

Not the 3 lbs will take me to a BMI of 22. I'd have to lose a lot more to get to my pre baby weight!
You always making an effort to go exercise even when you don't feel like it has been just the kick in the pants I needed Smile

Emily and Cup you both sound like you have great plans in place. Well done on your weight loss so far

Oh dear Caggie Sounds like a nice treat though

caggie09 · 16/08/2017 19:37

Today has been better, on 1503. I am going out for dinner tomorrow. Its hard when i wont know the exact calories in the meal! Anyone have an idea what would be in a roast beef dinner?😂 Next week im going to have to stick to it, i really want to lose this 1lb this week! And get into the tens!

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 17/08/2017 09:50

Welcome cup that's brilliant progress. I remember how good it feels when the switch clicks (although I was never as diligent as you). Do you eat out much and if you do, how do you still manage to stick to the 1200? I can manage it at home (in theory anyway - not in practice lately) but can never manage it if I have lunch/dinner out.

Not it's great you got back in the zone so quickly yesterday. Maybe I'm wrong but I do think we need a splurge day every now and again to get it out of our system - and lack of sleep for sure can trigger it. How is boot camp going - is it getting any easier? Even the name scares the bejaysus out of me Wink.

Ah Caggie my nearest Ikea is 3 hours away so part of the ritual involves gobbling food there (and munching the entire bag of Daim sweets on the way home Blush). I have no idea about a roast beef dinner but if I eat out, I try to add everything in the meal separately in MFP (I just guess the weights). Far from scientific but I've no idea how to do it otherwise. I really wish restaurants would add cal counts to menus Angry. Have a lovely time tonight and you WILL.BE. in the 10s on Friday Grin.

Welcome Emily the fact that you're on here is a great sign too - you have a great and very sensible plan already. Do you find it hard having soup every day in the Summer? I can just about face it the odd day in Winter, but not when it's warm or sunny - maybe I'm just not determined enough.

Porcus that's hardly anything over - you are easily using up those 150 by being busy or even by the step count. And a BMI of 22 sounds perfect.

So, WI yesterday and I put back on the 0.3kg that I 'lost' the previous week, so back to 67.2kg. What's most awful of all, is that I wasn't particularly disappointed - more just 'meh' about it. I definitely don't have my spark back yet. Yesterday felt like a good day, but I actually had 1546 which is a shock at how high it was - I didn't realise how much my snacks had added (3 biscuits & a pack of WW crisps). I'm still a bit tired with TOTM but meals today are only coming to 1170, so I'll see how many snacks I can resist. It really is a case that I can't keep anything in the house or I eat it Sad. Trying to drink a bit more water to fill myself up.

caggie09 · 17/08/2017 10:46

Daw, i think i use most of my calories on snacks! Im also a fan of the WW crisps. Sometimes i eat more than one pack in agoBlush
I did weigh this morning and i an around 10st 12/13, but it would be my look to WI tomorrow at 11stHmm Its not even 12 and ive eaten crap, a bag of percy pigs, and 2 twix bars. I had toast for breakfast instead if my usual porridge, i imagine thats why i gobbled all that this morning. Im going back to porridge in future!

Not2bObvious · 17/08/2017 17:17

I nearly laughed at your confession to 2 packs of ww crisps caggie, I'll see you and raise you! And not even ww crisps, real crisps or my Achilles heel corn snacks. I couldn't tell you have many packs of them I've been known to eat (...it's such a small wonder I can't progress...)
Thanks for asking about BC daw, it's grand to be honest, I'm not saying it's easy mind but my fitness has come on a lot in the last few months. Since I started following team RH I've been much more committed & consistent. I got out for a 40 minute run this morning but had fast food for lunch. But it could have been worse, at least the run covered a few of the cals. Sorry to hear you had a tiny gain, I think it's good you felt meh - better than fallen no face down into a bowl of maltesers!
Scales down to 11.7.6 this am, I'd be amazed if I get back to 11.5.6 tomorrow let alone show a loss but hey ho, I earned a maintain/small gain.

OP posts:
caggie09 · 17/08/2017 21:35

Not Oh, its def more than two on some occasions. Blush

Today I binged, a lot. So I went out for my dinner, was delicious and it was v filling, But because it was a special offer you could get pudding too, all looked very delicious. Even though I was full I still managed itBlush Then a few hours I got peckish, lost count of how many bags of crisps ive eaten, a doughnut, a piece of garlic bread, and a few biscuits for good measure. I image its near 3000 calories. Need to let this go over my head and forget it. After WI tomorrow I'm going to set my MFP to lose 2lb a week, my calories ill be around 1300. I know I can do it, but I need to stick to it. I feel since I lost the 1st 7, I don't seem to care about the rest I want offSad
Awesome August is clearly not for me! lol

caggie09 · 18/08/2017 17:09

Weighed in, im 10st 13! Thats a pound down. Woohoo. Hows everyone elses day gone?😊

Not2bObvious · 18/08/2017 17:33

Woohoo caggie!!! Delighted for you. I have no good scales news but no matter, clothes are loose, that'll do for now.
On my weekend away (only 30km away haha!) but it's lovely, by the sea

OP posts:
caggie09 · 19/08/2017 18:56

Thank you Not, have a good weekend away!

So far so good for me, stuck to 1370 for the past two days to try and shift 2lb by Friday. Had a huge tea, and got room for treats later. 23k steps in, and finishing on 1352. TOTM should be arriving in the next week or so, so if i get any mad craving i know why and try to hold offGrin

EmilyDickinson · 20/08/2017 00:07

Wow Cupoftea you're so disciplined! I'm reasonably good until the evening meal and like someone else said having the same thing for breakfast and lunch everyday helps, but the evening meal we eat together and my DH and teenage children eat huge amounts and I sort of don't want to look like I'm dieting as I don't want to give my daughter in particular "issues". She enjoys food and, thank goodness, has no hang ups and I'd like to keep it that way. I don't want to make it obvious I'm cutting down. Two of the children made cakes this week and we've been out for a celebratory dinner. I don't want to be the party pooper.

Current plan is to restart C25K and therefore be able to restrict the calories a bit less. Plus though I want to lose some weight, I'd also
like to be fitter and healthier so exercise is win win.

Re the soup, the weather's been cold enough lately that it's fine to have soup. Plus with no morning snacking I'd eat my own arm by lunchtime so completely unfussy.

caggie09 · 21/08/2017 19:24

Emily I love soup, I could have it in boiling hot weather with some nice crunchy croutons! I think ill have to give this same lunch ago one week see if its makes any difference.

Its very quiet on here, hope every ones doing okay!

Sticking to 1370 calories is okay, but I'm going to be switching back to my 1620 next week. I prefer the choice of extras in case I'm hungry. But, saying that I had noticed a difference on the scale already 10st 11ish and fluctuation weight is 11st. Just 3 more days to weigh in so hoping it shows on Friday! Got my driving test again tomorrow, so nerves will get in the way of my appetite. Gahh, I want it over and done withShock
