New thread for those using mfp to lose/maintain weight

Hope you resisted the choices caggie. And huge well done on the 5lb loss Kiki - that is fantastic.

Good news - Alcohol & refined sugar-free for a week not counting 2 squares of fudge yesterday or the biscuit binge last week.

Bad news - scales have gone up 1lb to 11 10 today! Did eat a fair bit of "heavy" food yesterday tho'(burger, no bun, sweet potato chips - divine).

So today I'm buckling-in and going to start logging every morsel again on mfp. 6 lb target to start. Then the 10s will be nearer. I have 2 PT training sessions booked in this week.

Still feeling v tired and puffy and headache, despite no alcohol. Hmmm... mind you totm due (I think), and I can feel my temp has increased a bit (or possibly peri-menopausal hot-flush!!). But carry on I shall. Kids back to school today - HURRAY - so can get back into old routine.

Have a great day everyone - lets go for it!

Porcus · 04/09/2017 08:36

Hope you weren't attacked by the chocolates and forced to defend yourself with your teeth Caggie Wink

Kiki 5lb! Fantastic effort!

I'm sure you'll be rid of that lb by the end of the week Bath Well done on the exercising regularly

I can't remember who asked (using the app) but I just changed MFP to maintenance rather than using a tdee calculator. Much easier!
I've weighed in and..... I've lost 1.5lb! I've only gained weight in the last few weeks but a week at maintenance I lose? Not complaining though!

Bathsheba3 · 04/09/2017 09:53

Well done on the loss Porcus ! Interesting that it's on maintainance weeks though. Regardless, all your hard work paying off! Long may it last.

DeliveredByKiki · 04/09/2017 16:02

I agree, that rogue 1lb will be gone soon Bathsheba and I find that I can fluctuate so much within a few days, it's prob already gone

Nice work still losing on maintenance Porcus

When you all come to maintaining, will you carry on doing MFP do you think?

Also could I add some of you, in need of buddy motivation I think

I'm gwtmh

caggie09 · 04/09/2017 20:27

What a nice surprise Porcus a good lb off on maintenance calories!

Bath Just saying what everyone else is saying, that 1lb will off again, and just a little fluctuation. Also good for you getting exercise in, I'm a lazy cow and just do walking Blush Hope the headaches subside soon!

I did manage to fight of that urge to devour the chocolate. I went to bed feeling proud I hadn't given in Grin Nothing really to report today, still not binged or gone over cals. I usually sabotage myself after a few good days, not this week though!!

Ill be using MFP to maintain, otherwise ill fall back into old ways, but I'm way off maintaining yet. Kiki I'm happy for you to add me on MFP, my username is cag0909 :]

Hi all - just a quick check in as I'm checking out for a bit. My progress despite is really so slow that I'm find it a bit demoralising to dwell on it too much. I'm setting myself a challenge to get under 11 stone before Christmas and when I get there I'll be back but for now I'm going to focus on getting it done no excuses. As of today I'm 11.6.2 so a ways to go.
Wishing you all the v best of luck, keep talking and keep working on it. I'm watching from the sidelines cheering you on.

Ahhh, nice to hear from you Not. A change in tactic is a good idea when things are stalling. We'll miss you & your wise words very much, but totally understand. You WILL get there. You can, and you want to. And you deserve to too. Flowers Please do pop in now & again. Looking forward to seeing you in the 10-stone bracket maybe I'll be there too by then?!

Constantly thinking obsessing about food, now I am officially dieting. Which means I am ravenous and generally wanting to stuff my face more. Need to exert some more self control.

If caggie can resist chocolate so well, then so can I. Caught my DH admiring his new slimline physique today. He's lost over a stone by cutting back a bit, but really upping the exercise (cycling), his new hobby. It would be easy if we all had 2-3 hours x 2/3 a week to upsticks and leave the house i.e. leave me to feed kids, housework, & be uber-mum. I mustn't begrudge him tho.

DeliveredByKiki · 06/09/2017 07:46

Totally understand bath except I wish DH would take his supposed new hobby more seriously (rock climbing) cos the man needs to do some toning!

Clocked in at 1595 today because we had friends over for dinner which included 2 glass of wine. Oooops

EmilyDickinson · 06/09/2017 16:27

After a couple of weeks of the needle on the scales wavering back and forth I'm finally down a lb today. However I'm feeling hormonal, tired and headachy which always leads to sugar cravings so I think that the extra cups of tea and biscuits that I'll need to see me through the day will take me over the 1,200 allowance. I feel too awful to worry about it. I'm just going to get through the day and if I feel better tomorrow will go for a run (it's week 4, day 1 on C25K so will be 175 calories) which I hope will mean I don't end up too far off track.

EmilyDickinson · 06/09/2017 16:28

The run will be minus 175 calories I mean. In theory.

caggie09 · 06/09/2017 22:40

Glad to hear from you Not, you'll make it out of the 11s by Christmas!! Hope to hear from you time to time so we know how your getting on Smile

Yesterday was a good day, stayed within calories and ate healthy-ish, was going to have a few extra chocs but scanned them in before eating them and realised id of gone over. So I put them back and never thought about them again.

Today I've stayed under again, 1571 calories, feel like I've eaten rubbish though. I did have a large amount of grapes and MFP told me off because they have to much sugar in them, which is abit annoying considering its fruit and not a big bar of chocolate. On the plus side I weighed myself and it looks like I may of lost 2lb this week!! I'm hovering over the 10st 11 mark, hoping it holds out until FridayGrin

caggie09 · 06/09/2017 22:41

Also hope you feel better soon Emily!

DeliveredByKiki · 07/09/2017 06:29

oh caggie I'm with you on sugar in fruit - I eat a ton of blueberries every day and hate that MFP tells me off - they're full of sodding antioxidants!!!

Bathsheba3 · 07/09/2017 07:55

So long as the calories are logged, whether grapes or chocolate, then there shouldn't be an issue. I do eat blueberries, but not grapes.

Sorry you are sounding a bit below par Emily. Hope today is a bit brighter. And don't feel bad about eating over - some days you have to listen to your body. 1200 is low to stick to continuously. But great to be 1lb down!

You're spurring me on too caggie. I long to be 10st 11. I forget what you started out at? I've dropped the 1lb I put on, and an extra 1/2. So 11 st 8.5 as of this morning. Another busy day at my desk, which means little steps and temptation to eat, but I'll do my best to hold strong.

caggie09 · 07/09/2017 09:02

I started at 12st 7, so being in the 10s is great!! Id like to squeeze into the 9's one day. But ill deal with getting below 10st 7 for now😊.
Good news on the 1lb and the extra half! Hopefully it starts something of and you keep losing. Hold strong there at your desk and have a good day!

Lolimax · 07/09/2017 16:56

Hello. Again. Hello. Remember me. Can I come back please? I had too good a time on my all inclusive holiday, took far too much advantage of the swim-up bar and wall-to-wall food. Whoops. So from 16.2 to 11.6 now back up to 12 (we've been back 3 weeks I suspect the damage was initially far worse!).
So plan of action is to go back to what works. Logging EVERYTHING on MFP, shed loads of exercise and maybe, just maybe hit 11 stone by Christmas.

Bathsheba3 · 07/09/2017 17:40

Big wave Loli. Nice to see you. You most certainly will get there. Hope all is well with your grown upbrood. My willpower is waining already, and it's only Thursday. Having you here will spur me on. Action stations.

caggie09 · 07/09/2017 19:40

Welcome back Loli

Finishing the day on 1570 calories. All was good until after I had tea, had a walnut whip and once I've eaten something chocolaty I have the taste for more chocolate. Really had to hold back and not demolish a whole bag of celebrations. In my mind was how ill be weighing in tomorrow and having a night off and ill be getting a posh bar of chocolate I've been eyeing up for ages to devour tomorrow night. I shall check in tomorrow!

Moanranger · 07/09/2017 23:52

Well, I have tracked about ten days worth of food and exercise now. I seem to have drifted down a couple of pounds. You see, I am trying to break a lifetime habit of ferocious dieting, getting stressed, losing lots quickly, but eventually regaining it. As an emotional eater, I am trying to change the pattern where I get stressed, angry, sad, whatever & eat! So it's now - be kind to myself, track my food & listen to my body. A pound a week? Fine by me.

DeliveredByKiki · 08/09/2017 05:13

MoanRanger with you on emotional eating - I also have a fuck it button that gets pressed in my brain and then I binge. So hard to control.

Doing ok here though for now and I think I need to weigh in once a week because seeing the scales bob back up 2lbs the other really dispirited me (weighed again this am and was back down 3lb so the fluctuations are insane!)

Finishing today at a respectable 1205, had a lower day yesterday (just shy of 1000) to compensate for the wine and ice cream the night before!

Bathsheba3 · 08/09/2017 08:43

Also an emotional eater. Succumbed last night Blush so now feeling double-rubbish today. But today is a new day, and so long as I don't repeat, should be OK wishfull thinking .

caggie09 · 08/09/2017 15:59

Well have weighed in and i am 10st 11, so ive logged that in MFP. Thats a nice 2lb loss this week. Would be very happy with 10st 10 next week. In not expecting to loss 2lb every week mind!

Bathsheba3 · 09/09/2017 09:07

Well done Caggie! You're on a roll.

I'm in my running gear, psyching myself up as haven't been for a run in a good few months. I'm still eating over my daily allowance, so need to be burning-up more calories too.

Bathsheba3 · 09/09/2017 14:57

6 mile run. Took an hour. Feel great. Will feel sore & stiff tomorrow. Amazed I got so far as haven't run in 2+ months. I need to get back into it, as it is a sure way of toning-up the thighs, which quite honestly are an embarrassment in my workout gear. The real challenge now will be to resist eating-back all the exercise calories. Control needed. Lots of.

Bathsheba3 · 10/09/2017 09:27

11 8, so officially 1lb down in 10 days. Wish it were more, but a loss is a loss. Everyone else here doing so well I can't let the side down!
