So tomorrow is a new day, start of a new week and I am going to work hard at it!!!

Hi Ladies. Does anyone know how many syns or if sushi is free. It's only fish and rice that I had for lunch? Thanks, had a good first week, lost 4lbs and then slipped up last week so have to get back on track!!

Nemo2007 · 11/05/2007 21:35

hi all can I just ask if any of you have done the slimming world online plan or if you all go to a club?

sarahhal · 11/05/2007 21:52

Hello again all. After my fantastic first week loss of 5 and a half pounds I fear it is all going wrong!!!
Had a bit of a slack last weekend with far too much wine but planned to be really good this week with the gym every night. Then we found out at school we had OFSTED in Thurs and Fri, so I have been at school until six all this week, working all eve and not eating that well. Plus no gym, and now the inspection is all over I've just had loads of wine and a curry I missed my class on Thursday so I have just short of a week to get on track and get something done. Am very cross with myself as I was trying so hard

poppy90 · 12/05/2007 10:30

I had a look on the s/w website and found this:
Marks & Spencer Medium Sushi Selection, chilled 85g pack Original 5 Syns Green 2½ Syns
HTH x

Nemo2007 · 13/05/2007 09:28

hello all
I am biting the bullet and joining my local club this week so any tips???

sarahhal · 13/05/2007 11:12

Just don't do a me and do so well in week one then let it all go. I am so cross with myself as I had such a good first week and it was so easy!

Nemo, even though i was quite familiar with SW through my mum doing it, I found that understanding all the Healthy extras really made a difference. For example, I love cheese, and to know that I can have an amount grated over some pasta or whatever really made me feel like I wasn't "missing out"

I can do so well when things are "normal" but as soon as I'm in a social situation, or things get stressy, it all just goes wrong and I can't make the right choices

2mum · 13/05/2007 12:06

Hi im thinking of joing Slimming World. Well actually i probably will as i really need to lose some weight before i put any more on. Is it a good place to start? TIA

Sparkler1 · 13/05/2007 12:18

It's been a terrible couple of weeks for me but I have woken up this morning thinking it's no good I have to sort myself out.
Have had my semi-skimmed and crunch bran this morning. Munching on grapes. God damn it's hard!
DH and DDs are just about to have hot dogs for lunch - sigh I love them. DH asked if I wanted one and I said no

OP posts:
BethAndHerBrood · 13/05/2007 12:29

LOL at fainting sparkler!! Well done for saying no!

I am hoping to do quite well for the next couple of weeks. DH has gone away for a fortnight this morning, and I blame him for a lot of the treats that come in the house. We shall see, won't we!

I have had a banana this morning, and have made a huge bowl of salad with ham and chicken on it for lunch. I need to put some sort of dressing on the salad though, too dry otherwise. Am thinking I will be having jacket spud and beans for tea, so a mix2max day for me today.

Sparkler1 · 13/05/2007 12:33

I think I might have a go at making the potato and leek soup today that's in the green recipes book - will let you know what it's like.
We are going to make a roast dinner later as well - it's going to be hard avoiding those "proper" roasties though.

OP posts:
BethAndHerBrood · 13/05/2007 12:37

Only 1 syn for a roastie though, if you're having a green day. That's what my consultant told us. I'm assuming() that it's the same for a roast parsnip too.

mamazon · 13/05/2007 12:45

if you like roast potatoes you can still have them.

par boil the spuds, then put them on a baking tray and spray with osme fry light.

you have to boil them a little longer than you normally would but they are still nice and roasted.

I have been told im too good Confused i need to have more siyns apparantly, so im being naughty today and just having proper spuds.

its 1syn per tbsp of oil (i think) so i reckon a few spuds wouldn't need more than say 3 so in actual; fact its not too bad.

BethAndHerBrood · 13/05/2007 12:51

Ooooh mamazon, you are way out with your syn value for oil!!! It's 6 syns a tbsp, not 1!!! That's how olive oil can be classed as a HE, as a HE is equal to 6 syns.

katylou25 · 13/05/2007 13:45

Yeah I do Roasties with Fry light too - work well just make sure you boil the potatoes for long enough so that when you shake the saucepan they "fluff up" around the edges - means they'll go all crispy.

We had them for lunch with roast chuck today yummy and free - but then spoilt it by having Caramel Pear Cake and Custard - about a miliion syns I reckon!!

BethAndHerBrood · 13/05/2007 16:07

I'm not keen on fry light. I think it tastes a bit plasticky. I don't use it very often. If I roast veggies or spuds I use olive oil and count it as a HE. I often have a B choice available, as I don't usually use both of them.

katylou25 · 14/05/2007 12:49

Ah I always use my B choices ..... Can not not have bread....

Right I need inspiration guys - What are your low syn snacks? I need yummy ideas for 5 syns ish or less preferably something thats a little bit naughty.

I've always had the cadbury melt chocolates that are 3.5 but am getting bored of them now and need things to have in the house for when fruit just won't do!! Or else I end up eating 1/2 a pack of chocolate cookies like I did on fri and then found out they were 4.5 syns EACH so please help me get back on track....

mamazon · 14/05/2007 13:11

mullerlight is free so i get teh toffee ones and dip fruit into it. banana's and strawberry is a fave.

i know that the cadbury's low cal chocloate mouse is about 4 syns.

mamazon · 14/05/2007 13:13

oops forgot to say what i actually checked the thread to say lol.

I have been very bad.

yesterday i ate 4 slices of thick cut wholemeal bread.

on top of my normal 3 slices of weight watchers as my b option.

i just checked and they are 6syns each.
someone tell me it'll be ok.

BethAndHerBrood · 14/05/2007 19:56

IT WILL BE OKAY!!!!!!

Seriously, it will. You used 24 syns. You have 105 a week to use, so you've loads left!! Just be carefull for the rest of the week.

(she says, when she went out today and stuffed her face at a buffet lunch)

Sparkler1 · 14/05/2007 21:19

My healthy eating isn't improving. Have borrowed an exercise bike from Dustystar so hoping that I can burn off some fat with that instead for the time being.

OP posts:
BethAndHerBrood · 14/05/2007 21:31

Awwwww, sparkler. I don't know what to say to make you feel better.

Are you feeling down about life in general, or just all this dieting stuff? It's a bugger being a fatty, innit?! I think I'm thin because I can get into a size 16 skirt. How wrong am I? Thinner than I was, but boy, is there a lot of work still to do!

Sparkler1 · 14/05/2007 21:46

Not really down as such. Just annoyed with myself as I know I can do it. I think a lot of my problem is time. I'm working 18 - 20 hours a week and when I get home and then sort the kids out there's not a lot of time left. I then start picking - start with fruit then find that's not filling enough end up on the biscuits and that's it then - I eat and drink all the wrong stuff.

OP posts:
BethAndHerBrood · 14/05/2007 21:52

I know what you mean about the fruit! I always start off with good intentions. I had a banana earlier while the kids were eating. Then I had a ham sandwich when they'd all gone to bed. And I've just finished the evening off with 3 slices of toast with peanut butter on them. Plus I had buffet lunch, which has got to be at least a million syns. So I'm f*cked this week.

I'll see you in the naughty corner. You can share my sweets!!

Sparkler1 · 15/05/2007 07:40

lol

Sigh a new day - sat here with good intentions munching on my crunchy bran and semi skimmed. (but I didn't weigh just guessed

Wonder where the day will go from here.
