Louise Parker Method - Lean for Lifers Support Thread

PushingElephantsUpStairs · 31/12/2016 13:04

Anyone following the Louise Parker Method?

I am restarting the transform phase again from next week and could really do with some support to get me through the 6 weeks!

I managed three weeks in November but gave up due to Christmas drinking and eating. I feel more motivated this time and felt great when I followed it properly. I love the food too but found it too easy to slip into bad habits.

Please share your stories (good and bad!) and hopefully we can support each other through the journey.

Yes I'm very dopey when I wake up too! Must be all the deep sleeping. I can't quite believe that I feel less tired when I drink wine, though.

I was horrified when I started this too Polly. I was at least 1.5 stones heavier than I'd like to be, and gained 7lbs last year AND 7 lbs the year before. I didn't like where this trend was going! I'm so happy to be doing this right now - I feel like I'm in the right place and this is by far the healthiest way to live.

tomatoplantproject · 06/02/2017 18:41

Wow 10lbs is amazing!! Well done!

Surprisingly I have lost 0 (but also mot gained). Think it must be the time of the month but I'm exhausted, and a bit headachey. Am having a super early night.

I do my own thing exercise wise too - I should be doing a bit more though. Its mostly yoga related (I go 2-3 times a week, still waiting for my yoga body to make an appearance mind you).

MrsD - I have the same issue with my phone in the evenings too. Tonight I'm putting it in a different room so I am not tempted.

MrsDesperado · 06/02/2017 19:28

Good luck with that tomato! And let me know how it goes! Sadly, I'm not brave enough for that yet...

PoshSausage1008 · 08/02/2017 08:00

Just started this plan on Monday and great to find some support on here Smile. Getting up at stupid o' clock to workout is just wrong though!

DesertIslandPenguin · 11/02/2017 11:36

Hello! Am back and trying to force myself back on plan. I had a lovely weekend away, alas with the sprig in tow so it was not a dirty one! I have been very, very lucky as I've only gained a pound despite all the booze and chocolate I've been eating for the last couple of weeks. Time to knuckle down now, though. I'm going to roast some lovely pink rhubarb to top vanilla Bircher for tomorrow's breakfast.

walruswhiskers · 11/02/2017 11:43

I'm
Still hanging in though my resolve is not quite what it was. I'm just one pound heavier than I got to when I was storming it before Xmas and now wear size 10 jeans (smug). Centre parcs next weekend - i would love to be 10stone something. Currently 11st2 so not impossible if I stick to plan and keep exercising. I'm also trying hard to up the walking- my normal step count is about 4.5k so a 40minute walk in the evening brings it up to within shouting distance of 10k.

MrsDesperado · 11/02/2017 11:47

Welcome back desert - I've missed you! Glad you had a nice birthday away complete with booze and chocolate - sounds bliss! And only a pound gained that's very good!! Knuckling down now sounds like a good idea - hope the transition is easy for you.

Welcome Posh - hope you're serving those silly o'clock workouts! I lasted a grand total of one day doing that and quickly realised i was not going to be able to sustain it! So although I'd like to get it out if the way I don't like it enough to get up so early!

Good week here, we've been completely off the booze for the past 12 days but that's going to break tonight as we've a family sociable week coming up. Hopefully won't cause too much damage, I'm happy if I stay the same. I would like a loss on the scales on Monday though first!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

MrsDesperado · 11/02/2017 11:48

XP walrus - final push this week you can do it! Be strict with yourself and you wil be rewarded when you get to CP!

MrsDesperado · 11/02/2017 11:50

Aargh
*surviving those silly o'clock workouts
*fairly sociable week
*you will be rewarded
Sorry

pollycazalet · 11/02/2017 19:08

I'm sitting in front of the fire with a mineral water and fresh lime with a few drops of angostura bitters - perfectly lovely substitute for an early evening glass of wine. Had a wobble on Thursday after getting to the end of a project at work when I would have usually had a few glasses but apart from that I've not felt deprived. Am now into week three but guess a lot of you are in week six?

Walked until a very steep hill today and it felt easy where normally I would have been a bit out of breath so feeling pleased with that. Still haven't got to grips with exercise though.

tomatoplantproject · 12/02/2017 14:49

So dd and I are on our way home from a lovely sleepover weekend away. Having been very much in the circle since my blip last weekend I have well and truly been living outside the circle for the last 24 hours. Hey ho. Just hoping when I step on the scales tomorrow I have not gained anything.

I kind of think I can see the 80% rule working really well - its being strict 100% of the time that I'm currently not able to keep to although I don't have any possible blowout opportunities in the diary in the next couple of weeks.

Welcome back desert, and well done to everyone whose halo is shining.

tomatoplantproject · 13/02/2017 08:17

Weigh-in day. Despite my efforts this weekend I have lost another 1 1/2 lb. I have my meal plan ready, burcher in my tummy, lunch and snacks in my bag.

I'm just booking a long weekend away in march and have a goal to aim for, and I also need to be superfit (activity weekend with my two fittest and most competitive friends). Am going to try for 11 stone exactly by the 9th March which is 5 1/2 lb and will have me at my lightest in my adult life.

Footiegirl83 · 13/02/2017 09:22

Hi All,

I just survived a weekend in a hotel - ate fairly well to the plan - substituting carbs with veg and I didn't drink alcohol - although when my partner bought a beer it nearly killed me especially as I'd opted for water! I've decided my first drink in a pub will always be tea - because I love tea even more than beer!!

pollycazalet - I also walked up a massive hill but did a lot of moaning until I got to the top and realised I was ok! sometimes my mind gets in the way of these things more than my body.

Like you I am also not getting on with the exercise part of this plan - I like the 10,000 steps bit but the rest I do what I like to - I would like to think I could get home and do these routines but in reality I think I like to be with other people when I exercise and also with a goal in mind - like doing a 5k is my mind when I go running (actually my big running goal is run Disney 1/2 marathon!)

Good luck this week everything - its all worth it in the end and the best thing about this plan is the maintenance phase means we'll never be back here again doing the transformation phase again! :)

MrsDesperado · 13/02/2017 10:42

Morning all!
Well when I jumped on the scales this morning I thought I was down a pound but in actual fact I've stayed the same. I'm ok with this though as a) I've had a boozy weekend, b) I've period bloat and c) I did a big workout yesterday so my muscles are probably heavier today if that is an actual thing

It's half term here so everything is out the window and a bit boozy. Will try my best to stick in the circle when I can. If I can stay the same and not gain this week I'll be happy.

After this week is over I'm going off the booze again - it definitely stops my weight loss. tomato I have an exciting weekend booked for that same weekend in March and so I'll join you in focussing on that. I'm aiming for 4.5lb off which will take me to 9 st 7lb.

Can't wait for the transform phase to be over. I really do think it'll be so easy to maintain weight loss on this method, this is the healthiest I've ever eaten - I simply can't say anything bad about it. It's transformed my whole view of food/weight and any issues I had surrounding that.

tomatoplantproject · 13/02/2017 17:49

MrsD I'm totally with you on seeing food differently. I was in such a rut, but I now am eating much more healthy food, not filling up on carbs and have loads of new food ideas. I cannot wait for all of the summer fruit and veg to hit the shelves.

The hardest part was the first couple of weeks and getting to grips with preparing more food and working out how I could eat more cheaply. I'm not now buying lunch and snacks when I'm out.

I'm going to stick with the transform phase through to my trip in March and then hopefully I can go onto maintenance. I have really missed having something sweet at the end of my evening meal (yoghurt in the olden days) and I have danced my way pretty quickly out of the circle for meals with friends.

pollycazalet · 14/02/2017 07:50

Footie I have survived a weekend in a hotel too! We've been away until late yesterday so only weighed myself this am. I've lost another 3lb so am pleased - almost a stone and I can feel the difference.

Had meals out while away and managed to stay in the circle fairly happily! Worst moment was sitting in the hotel bar when I really wanted a glass of wine but I keep remembering Louise's advice about turning the fat burning tap off!

Footiegirl83 · 14/02/2017 09:08

Well done polly. The fat burning tap also kept me going! It would have been so easy to have a pint. I think I've passed the cravings stage so it was worth resisting. I just hope I don't overdose on tea!!

This time I know it's five months ive planned to stay in the circle so in a way it's easier than messing about being in and out. Losing a lb putting it back on. Now fat burning tap stays on for 5 months 😀

lalamumto3 · 14/02/2017 15:21

Hi all glad to hear its going so well. I've lost 9 lbs so far , I keep thinking stay in circle, don't turn the fat burning tap off and sip sip sip the water. Am away currently stay ing in a hotel so am enjoying a break from chopping and prep, will let you know how I get on when I get back 😀

tomatoplantproject · 19/02/2017 12:25

How's everyone doing?

I've had a bad week - I have the february blues big time right now which hasn't helped.

I've had to give myself a big talking to. I've had a good day so far today, and just been to yoga. I'm planning to get some sunlight with a walk later too. Dd has a few days away visiting xh's family next week and I've booked myself into various classes in an effort to get fitter so hopefully I can haul myself back onto the wagon and resume my efforts towards a flat and chiselled stomach.

MrsDesperado · 19/02/2017 18:52

Oh tomato I've had a bad week too! Like you I'm also feeling blue - but I think mine is self-inflicted, caused by too much wine this week. I'm sorry you've been feeling so rubbish but happy to hear you've had a good day today!

Half term really threw me off track. I'm struggling tonight, to find a way back on track, if I'm honest. Really want a glass bottle of wine and I'm sulking about it Confused

Like you tomato I've also booked myself into various classes this week in an effort to force myself back into it, when in actual fact I really feel like comfort eating crisps and chocolate in bed for the foreseeable Sad

tomatoplantproject · 20/02/2017 08:20

Oh no MrsD I was hoping I was on my own with this one!

Am up 1lb BlushSad

Yesterday I was back in the circle and have prepared everything today so I am not tempted.

MrsH5859 · 20/02/2017 08:39

Hello ladies

Can I join in? I've been planning to start since the new year, but knew I was going skiing last week (including lots of wine and cheese Blush) so decided to start when I got back. I know that is not what LP recommends ('there is never a good time') but hey ho.

I've read the book and just had the healthy eggs benedict for breakfast. I have stocked up the fridge to batch cook a couple of the dinners this week. So think I'm prepared.

I think my hardest task will be no wine in the evenings. I hate to say it, but an evening glass (or two) has become a habit for me. But one that I am determined to get rid of. I think if I can concentrate on the food, it should be easier.

It's been interesting reading all of your journeys. Can I ask those of you that have been on it for six weeks now if they are happy with their results? Do you think that you have formed those healthy habits that LP goes on and on about?

pollycazalet · 20/02/2017 09:17

So sorry to hear you've had a bad week Tomato and Mrs D. Do you think it's time of year? I barely moved off the sofa yesterday and feel pretty tired. Not buzzing with energy in the same way I was a week ago.

I've lost a couple more pounds but I have continued to be super strict. Am still barely doing any exercise and keep thinking this is the week that will change but I am quite lazy. I think I may start with trying to up my walking but that entails getting a rucksack for work as I carry so much too and fro.

Mrs H I had wine every evening too ( often more than you) and think that was a big factor in how much I now weigh. I found it easier to abstain as my sleep and skin have improved, it's really clear to me what the negative impact is. Not to mention the health and weight benefits. My challenge will be not to slip back.

I am not sure I have embedded any new habits yet, but am in the middle of week 4. I find it easy to eat like this but it requires a lot of prep and shopping. Just being organised to take my lunch to work every day is quite hard. Like everyone I have a lot to think about sort from this plan!

BasicBetty · 20/02/2017 09:28

Oooh, I've just spotted this thread - v excited.

I did the LP Method last year, as in signed up with the clinic and did the intensive programme over 8 weeks. It was super expensive, but fab.

I did it just before LP's first book came out, which was a little bit annoying, as I could have saved a ton of cash!

Will be reading this thread with interest, as I'm very keen to restart and do another transform phase.

Btw, it worked brilliantly for me - lost 6kg which I was pretty happy with, as I didn't stick to it 100% (which was a bit daft with hindsight) and had a back injury which meant I couldn't do full on exercise sessions.

good luck all!

tomatoplantproject · 20/02/2017 19:54

Ooh new people! Hello!!

Have you kept the 6kg off Betty? Did you keep up your good habits? Any tips to share?

MrsH I've definitely changed my eating habits and I've noticed just how carb heavy my diet was. Breakfast is now mostly bircher or eggs, and I've changed my lunch and dinner too. I ate "old habits" on saturday and felt gross and bloated afterwards which is one lesson. It is much more effort though and I'm spending more on food.

Polly - I think it is definitely a bad time of year. I am not outside as much as normal by a long shot so my vitamin d levels are down (and I've always struggled in February). I also have a fair amount of stress in my life - work, divorce, dd - and last week all 3 of those had a stressful impact in some way. The first thing that goes when I am stressed is my sleep and last week I was averaging about 5 hours. I spent yesterday decompressing and was asleep by 9 so hopefully I've now reset which will help with my eating and cravings (fingers crossed).
