Louise Parker Method - Lean for Lifers Support Thread

PushingElephantsUpStairs · 31/12/2016 13:04

Anyone following the Louise Parker Method?

I am restarting the transform phase again from next week and could really do with some support to get me through the 6 weeks!

I managed three weeks in November but gave up due to Christmas drinking and eating. I feel more motivated this time and felt great when I followed it properly. I love the food too but found it too easy to slip into bad habits.

Please share your stories (good and bad!) and hopefully we can support each other through the journey.

Hi Q and SayHello,

I had lost 0.8kilos on my Thursday weigh in (3 weeks in ), so only 0.7 off my target of reaching 60kilos. My stomach is still 84cm. That was the only measurement I did at the start because it's the only one I care about! I'm hoping the remaining 0.7 comes off there Grin.

1.4 kilos is a fab loss Q and great that your clothes are fitting better Sayhello.

I haven't got to grips with the new cookbook yet. There are a lot of ingredients I can't get because I'm not in the UK and for some reason I prefer to double a one person recipe than halve a 4 person one when I'm cooking for two. No idea why!

Here's to another good week.

Lissette · 25/06/2017 22:33

Gosh you're all doing really well! I've lost more weight and am almost at the point where I can treat myself to a summer bag. I think I've lost about 10 lbs since I started a while back. I'm losing 1lb per week which is fine by me.

muvril · 27/06/2017 07:47

Hello :-) Can I join you? I've just started the method properly after a few false starts and feel really encouraged by what I've read on here! Have to do something as my weight is at an all time high and my skin has gone downhill, and I haven't managed to stick to ww or sw, each of which I tried for six months :( Feeling hopeful about this though :-)

Lissette · 27/06/2017 10:16

muvril I'm not sticking exactly to Louise's method but I am making progress. Weight loss is slower because I'm not exercising as much and I've added some wholegrain carbs. But my skin is much, much better and I've lost ten pounds. I think my hormones are more balanced due to zero sugar spikes. Basically I'm eating more protein and more nutritionally dense food. I'm not drinking calories through alcohol or fruit juice. My dh said that he can now see the difference in terms of weight loss and I can see that my clothes are fitting better. So keep going! I give myself a reward with every five pounds I lose. Initially, it's lipsticks but as I reach closer to my goal weight I'll buy more clothes.

Siesta · 27/06/2017 22:09

Welcome Muvril. It sounds like you're doing well lissette.

Here is a list of what I'm succeeding and failing at in the method.

Succeeding

Food
No alcohol
Steps
Lemon drink in the morning
Drinking enough water.

not succeeding

Exercise (this is the big one)
De cluttering
No electronic devices after 9pm
No caffeine after 3pm
Getting 7 hours sleep

Not sure if those last three are related!

Siesta · 29/06/2017 22:28

So I did my weekly weigh in and I lost 1.4 kilos and 1cm off the stomach this week. I've actually gone past my target weight by 0.7kilos Blush. I've got two more weeks of transition phase, so I'll carry on and see what happens. I'm still not happy with my stomach but my Bmi is now 19.8 so don't want to lose too much more weight either Confused.

How's everyone else doing?

Lissette · 30/06/2017 07:52

Gosh you've a low BMI siesta! Mine's 27.5!
I'm losing at a slower rate but still losing. About 0.5kg per week.

What exercise are you doing?

Lissette · 30/06/2017 07:54

Ah, read your previous post. Perhaps some exercises will help you tone up. The plank, perhaps?

Siesta · 30/06/2017 22:41

I definitely need to stop being in denial about exercise Lissette . Someone else recommended the plank and the 100 from Pilates, so I'm going to try and do those at least, a few times a day.

PeoniesGinandBags · 28/07/2017 11:53

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to jump on this thread. I just got the Lean for Life book yesterday and like what I've read so far. It ties in with the Marie Kondo book I've been reading and re-reading as well as the awareness that I need to move more!

Looking forward to finding out more and learning about your journeys x

Sayhellotothelittlefella · 28/07/2017 14:05

Hi peonies (and Q, Siesta and Lissette if you're still here) I've been doing the programme for a while now and it's really working. I should have moved out of transform but have decided to stay in the circle for a while longer as I feel I could get my weight down more. I had already said up thread that my weight loss had completely stalled after a year on slimming world despite being on plan but since doing Louise Parker I have lost at 6lb so far (weigh in again tomorrow). I need to re read 2 of the other pillars as I'm fine with eating and exercise now but really need to work on the sleeping and organising. Enjoy the rest of the book and let us know how you're getting on

PeoniesGinandBags · 28/07/2017 14:21

6lb is great! Well done!

What really appeals to me about the book is that food is just one part of it. I really take on too much work, which impacts on food and exercise etc so the 'life overhaul' aspect is very appealing :)

IAmADancer · 31/07/2017 07:39

Hello ladies
I was wondering if I might join? I am also doing Louise Parker method but keep stopping and starting and could do with a bit of encouragement to keep going!
I manage about three weeks on the recipes and then get bored of them. Do I need to stick to them religiously?

HeatherJane101 · 18/08/2017 12:55

Hi ladies
I have just bought the Louise Parker 'lean for life' book and am looking forward to getting started (once a few social engagments are out of the way!).
All of your posts seem very encouraging - I have done Weight Watchers for years with some success but I feel I need something new.
I am just curious to know, those of you who follow the plan and work full time - how do you find this?
Do you just prepare the meals in advance and take to the office with you? Louise recommends to 'eat in style' off a beautiful plate etc. - just wondering how I'd do that in the office?! Do people follow it to the letter like that?
Thanks in advance!

asyr · 15/09/2017 11:02

Hi everyone, I feel so happy to find this thread as very new to mums net as well as Lewis Parker Method, I'm starting today and at week 1 Day 1of transform program, would be extremely delighted to know if some one else has started recently and is on the plan, need to loose 40lbs in total and would welcome any tips regarding meal plans etc that has worked for some one or hasn't:)
Look forward to read and share the success n failure stories ;)

asyr · 15/09/2017 11:08

Can anyone kindly share the daily menu as in what did you eat for breakfast, snacks , lunch and dinner in a week and achieved maximum weight loss? And dinner to have latest by what time?

Lastly I'm still confused as in when to have a breakfast? After the lemon water drink straight away or have lemon water first, then work out and then breakfast by 9:30 ish am ???????
Kindly share your experiences !

nicolattapicolatta · 07/10/2017 10:10

I've just joined and it's so helpful to see all the comments, does anyone know how the cup measurements convert ? I can only find american on google and it seems to be different for different ingredients

nicolattapicolatta · 07/10/2017 13:49

Does anyone know the cup to gms conversion I have no idea

lolo66 · 26/10/2017 19:48

Hi! Is anyone out there? I've been doing this for a month now and would love to see how everyone is getting on! I've lost a bit over 5lbs in a month and i'd probably like to lose around 20-30lbs more. I'm loving the recipes, had a few minor slip ups in the last few weeks (mainly from feeling really hungry in the evenings.) I've been good at doing the LP exercises every day and getting my 10,000 steps in, i'm just disappointed that more weight hasn't fallen off!
How's everyone else doing?
nicolattapicolatta you'll probably find that buying a cup set will help, as it's more about the volume of the food than the weight.

joey1980 · 08/01/2018 22:34

hi everyone, may i please join in? I am going to start today!!!! Does anyone know if we can still do weight training as well as the exercises in the book or is it best to strictly do the exercises in the book? Tossing up whether I should forgo my gym membership doing this program....

i am so glad I found this discussion page:)

sayhellotothelittlefella · 09/01/2018 13:19

Hi lolo and joey. I started this months ago and it really made a difference. I did the transform for 8 weeks and then moved onto maintenance. I’ve slipped considerably over Christmas so it’ll be good to have a few people to start again with. I don’t stick to the exercises in the book everyday. I do other classes and go to orange theory fitness instead. I think as long as you’re doing something similar it won’t matter. I also found that the ones in the book got very monotonous and after a while a bit too easy.

lolo66 · 09/01/2018 16:46

Hi there,
Good to hear from you sayhellotothelittlefella. I'm still cracking away at this. I haven't weighed myself since Christmas (am going to on Thursday) but I don't think I did too much damage over Xmas. I've been bulk cooking a lot at the moment to fill up my freezer. I start on a new job in a few weeks time (I work freelance in film and TV) and the hours are very long so i'm trying to prepare myself as much as possible. I do the workouts from the book and I also do ballroom and latin dancing and yoga during the week. I have quite a muscular frame already and gain muscle very easily for a woman so for me it's more about maintaining my fitness and watching what I eat. I've made a profile on instagram specifically for the leanie group and I post regularly on there . I would definitely recommend having a look on there as it seems pretty quiet on here!

momnone · 09/06/2018 00:19

Hi - It looks like I am 6 months late to the party. I am on day 12. Just beginning. I notice a difference. I am trying to stay off the scale. My weakness is homemade treats. I also have certain exercises I can't do, but I am making progress. Thanks for all of the posts these past 2 years.
