Louise Parker Method - Lean for Lifers Support Thread

PushingElephantsUpStairs · 31/12/2016 13:04

Anyone following the Louise Parker Method?

I am restarting the transform phase again from next week and could really do with some support to get me through the 6 weeks!

I managed three weeks in November but gave up due to Christmas drinking and eating. I feel more motivated this time and felt great when I followed it properly. I love the food too but found it too easy to slip into bad habits.

Please share your stories (good and bad!) and hopefully we can support each other through the journey.

Hello all

I'm back and definitely need to get back in my groove - cheese, carbs and beers are not conducive to being sleek and slender!!

Hopefully the lbs I have put on are bloat rather than fat and come off easily. If not, I had a bloody good time and it was all worth it!

My must haves are:
Low fat greek yoghurt
Vanilla paste
Oats (couldn't find oat bran)
Nuts
Apples
Green veg (broccoli, spring cabbage, greens, kale)
Peppers
Cherry tomatoes
Avocados

Hope that helps!

pollycazalet · 17/03/2017 19:09

I would add oat cakes and a good sugar free peanut butter to the list. Plus almonds which I eat all the time and are a good protein hit.

Glad you had a good hol tomato - you'll soon shift those pounds now you're back in the circle!

pollycazalet · 27/03/2017 18:00

Hey Leaners. Anyone still here? I've been away for a couple of weeks and only weighed myself this am - so first time for a fortnight - and was amazed to discover I've lost almost a stone since then. So whether my body was doing an odd blip I don't know - it's taken me from just under 12 stone a month ago to just under 11.

Have been quite good food wise but have had a some wine over the last fortnight - managed to keep to just a glass though so am quite pleased. I really want to be the person who can stop after one!

How's everyone else doing?

BasicBetty · 28/03/2017 09:49

Hi Polly that's awesome, well done.

Not doing too brilliantly here, but trying to get back in the circle...

runninggranny · 28/05/2017 14:11

Anyone still doing this? I am planning on starting Monday and could probably do with some help/advice/support from 'real' people, rather than what is in here book.

CreamCheez · 28/05/2017 17:41

Hi rg, I have LP book & I'd like to do it. I've never been on a diet as such... The usual starving into tight jeans (smoking!) when I was younger & simply giving up rubbish, when I need to, in recent years.
Now, I need a lifestyle change as fatness is getting much harder to fend off. LP makes sense to me, as I've never counted calories & I can't be doing with Syns etc...
I already do a fair bit of incidental walking, as I've no car. But I'd like to up that & add swimming. I've been on a sweets rampage lately, after a stressful event (mmc), it's gotta stop... Otherwise, I'm down with LP type of eating. I just need the discipline she offers. I'm ready for my first formal "diet"!

WalkersNotLays · 28/05/2017 19:11

Soo glad I've found this thread, got the book during the Kindle daily deal and starting tomorrow

CreamCheez · 28/05/2017 19:30

Brilliant, Walkers. I'm starting on Thursday (start of the month!), as I won't get to the supermarket 'til Wednesday.
In the meantime though, no rubbish for the next three days. I want to be well prepared...

WalkersNotLays · 29/05/2017 10:38

How is everybody getting on? I've had a bowl of muesli for breakfast and have a salad and smoked salmon planned for lunch. Have avoided my usual mid-morning snack so far Halo

runninggranny · 29/05/2017 15:35

So far so good. Had a Bircher with strawberries and fig this morning, apples and almonds for snack and a huge bowl of salad with goats cheese (my husband had this too and thought it was lovely, although he had his with a slice of wholegrain bread).
Off to the gym in a minute.
I have always been doing a lot of running and strength training (5 times a week) and I am a bit concerned that hardly or no starchy foods are going to leave me tired. Don't really want to lower my intensity to what LP is suggesting in her book, as I am competing. Does anyone have experience with this way of eating and training hard? Need to get my bodyfat down, unfortunately, as CreamCheeze, says, it gets harder with getting older.

Siesta · 29/05/2017 21:43

I'm starting this on Thursday too. I'm not very overweight but I'm addicted to sugar and my stomache area is out of control! Hopefully, I'll be able to find the ingredients for the recipes (I'm not in the UK).

CreamCheez · 30/05/2017 08:28

Same here, Siesta. Not too bad at the moment, but I know if I continue with sweet things... I'd like to feel nice in my summer clothes!
Making a list, today, of food to buy. Never done that before in my life!
Anyone considering buying LP second book? It's mostly recipes.

Puggirl007 · 30/05/2017 09:23

I have both books and the 2nd is definitely worth getting. Lots of good recipes in there.
It was 99p kindle offer sometime ago.

I am starting today, kicking the booze habit and upping the exercise. I prefer cycling and spin so going to do this instead of the LP exercises. I need structured exercise routines and struggle to follow pictures in a book - I think there has been occasional mention of a DVD coming out at some point...

WalkersNotLays · 30/05/2017 19:22

I also need to do a shopping list!

V. annoyed as the strap of my fitbit has broken so I to wait until next week to track my steps

Also - how are you guys managing to exercise in this heat/humidity?

Siesta · 31/05/2017 20:34

So I've done my shopping, prepared my breakfast for tomorrow and taken some before shots. Eek! Hopefully the after ones won't look the same. The battery is dead in my scales so I'll have to wait to weigh myself.

Ready to go.

WalkersNotLays · 01/06/2017 13:43

So I am a daily weigh-er and I've lost 2lb since Monday. I'm sure it's all water weight but I'm already quite pleased Smile

IAmNoMan · 02/06/2017 00:08

Can I join? I have the book and trying to get my head round starting!

Sayhellotothelittlefella · 03/06/2017 23:17

Hi all. How's everyone getting on. Can I join you? I'm on day 4 now and was just looking for help and tips. I'm loving the food it's ideal as a coeliac as it's almost completely Gluten Free except for breakfast. I'm still oat Free at the mo so that reduces the options a bit. Is the second book good for recipes?
What other options for exercise do people use as I can see the ones in the book getting boring soon and surely we need to do more than 15 mins a day?

Siesta · 04/06/2017 06:14

Hi IAmNoMan Have you taken the plunge? It took me a week or two after reading the book to start.

Hi Sayhellotothelittlefella I've just bought the second book but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm only on day four. So far finding the food fairly easy. Some of the dishes I find quite substantial while others not so much. Do others think there is a lot of cheese? I'm not a big exerciser so finding that part a bit of a struggle. I walk a hell of a lot day to day so I've got that covered.

IAmNoMan · 04/06/2017 09:41

I'm easing in slowly, Siesta Grin I know that she encourages not doing that but it's taking me a while to get my head around it.

I would love to be able to buy online videos of the exercise program and a shopping list would be super helpful, but I'm muddling through!

Sayhellotothelittlefella · 04/06/2017 10:57

I started before I finished the book - I wanted to get going. So I haven't done the whole ' live beautifully ' yet. That's going to take a lot more time to sort out my tip of a house Grin
I do exercise quite a lot but I'm struggling to find motivation for her examples out of the book. I agree on line videos would be a real help noman I think a lot of the davina workouts would be quite similar. I've done some joe wicks ones as well which are very good for hiit which I'm sure I read somewhere else you're meant to do on Louise Parker

Siesta · 04/06/2017 18:13

Yes my 20 month old is not really down with the living beautifully. Or the letting me have 7 hours restful sleep come to think of it.

WalkersNotLays · 05/06/2017 15:19

If you're looking for online videos, I've been following Cassie Ho on YouTube, she's fab!

Siesta · 06/06/2017 11:17

I feel like I might turn into a Greek yogurt or a cherry tomato Grin
