Louise Parker Method - Lean for Lifers Support Thread

PushingElephantsUpStairs · 31/12/2016 13:04

Anyone following the Louise Parker Method?

I am restarting the transform phase again from next week and could really do with some support to get me through the 6 weeks!

I managed three weeks in November but gave up due to Christmas drinking and eating. I feel more motivated this time and felt great when I followed it properly. I love the food too but found it too easy to slip into bad habits.

Please share your stories (good and bad!) and hopefully we can support each other through the journey.

Wow desert you're doing brilliantly! I'm loving all of the different birchers - I haven't come across any cherries yet - it looks delicious - but am trying the nectarine one tomorrow first thing.

tomatoplantproject · 18/01/2017 18:17

And what is lebkeuken?

DesertIslandPenguin · 18/01/2017 20:10

Lebkeuken are those little chocolate-covered soft gingerbreads you get at Christmas. My favourites! They come in star or heart shapes, sometimes with apricot jam in the middle.

I buy frozen cherries from Sainsbury's which are lovely stirred into the Bircher before you leave it to soak. The juices run into the Bircher and it's just delicious. I toss in almond extract and pretend I'm having a cherry Bakewell 😂

tomatoplantproject · 18/01/2017 21:26

I know what you mean - they're the little German biscuits. I haven't had one for ages and right now those are what I want to eat. I have no treats in the house though (and I know I have no willpower because if I did I would have scoffed em)

Ooh frozen cherries. I need to do an online order soon good tip to investigate those.

I had the prada chicken this evening which was nice. I doubled up when I was making it and I have another one prepared for tomorrow night.

PushingElephantsUpStairs · 18/01/2017 21:57

Ooh I love lebeuken! I've managed not to have my biscuits and tea tonight and have done exercise two days in a row.

Feeling good Smile although just about to start my period and this is where I stopped last time. All I wanted to do was stuff my face and drink wine!

I agree tomato re skin, mine is loads clearer - I'm drinker a lot more water so that probably helps

I think all the fruit & vegetables will be helping our skin, too, Pushing! I was totting up all the fruit & veg portions I ate yesterday and it was about 8. I felt rather virtuous, I must say!

tomatoplantproject · 19/01/2017 19:35

Yes yes yes to all of those portions - I think 7 or 8 portions a day.

If I've learned one thing from the last couple of weeks its how to incorporate a lot more healthiness into my diet.

MrsDesperado · 21/01/2017 10:09

Ooh sorry for not posting all week, didn't realise it'd been so long.

I've had a great week! On method every day with the exception of a few glasses of wine on Wednesday to celebrate DH finishing something at work. I've been doing lots and lots of exercising - 2 x 5km runs, 3 x hiit sessions and a hard Pilates class - and have averaged over 10k steps a day. I feel great and like the rest of you my skin is glowing too!

Really hoping to see a difference on the scales on Monday. I mean I deserve too, right?! Grin I do actually feel a bit slimmer so perhaps there's a glimmer of hope. I just need to keep up the motivation this weekend and not ruin all my efforts. I have decided that I'm going to have a couple of glasses of wine tonight but I will go for a run beforehand to try and offset it a bit, and won't have any crisps (previously DH and I would have shared a family bag of crisps with a bottle of wine on a weekend night!!! That thought fills me with horror now!)

Hope everyone else is doing well!

tomatoplantproject · 21/01/2017 18:47

Yay!! Well done MrsD. I still haven't been very good at the exercise pillar. I have though been ultra good on the food front. LP's new book arrived this morning too and lots of inspiration (and a few more recipes for things I can bulk make/freeze and a few bits to help my sweet tooth).

I am on a decluttering mission - I have had dd today but she is now with her dad until tomorrow evening. I have had a massive sort out in my bedroom, and am going to tackle the kitchen tomorrow. I have booked in a cleaner for a thorough clean in the week and so hopefully my home will be clean and clear soon.

DesertIslandPenguin · 21/01/2017 19:28

Well done on the steps, MrsD! Here's hoping the scales are paying attention to all your hard work.

Enjoy your bulk cooking, tomato. My freezer is full of bags of frozen veg so not much room for freezing meals. I am quite happy making a huge vat of something and eating the same dinner all week as long as breakfast and lunch are varied.

DH has cooked pulled pork so I'm having that with a big mound of ratatouille for dinner. A peculiar combination but I reckon it'll be #worthit. He did cut all the fat off, so probably 'on Method' actually.

tomatoplantproject · 22/01/2017 18:57

So I have the ragu in the oven (for 4 hrs!), soup ingredients chopped and ready to cook once dd asleep, and a tummy full of sausages beans and pak choi.

Exercise wise I have done 7,000 steps and a 90 minute hot yoga class. I'm hoping the scales tomorrow will be friendly - if they aren't I'm going to have to up my exercise.

My biggest feat today though is clearing out my pantry. I think 2/3rds was out of date - some of it was xh's food but it was very apparent looking at everything I had to chuck that I just stopped cooking. Now my cupboard is cleared out, I can find everything I need and no more looking at jars of marmite and pickled onions.

Next weekend I need to tackle the spices and sort out the surfaces in the kitchen but all this clearing out is proving very cathartic.

MrsDesperado · 23/01/2017 10:16

The scales most certainly have been paying attention Desert - I was 9st 13.5lb at weigh-in this morning - that's 3.5lb off this week! I'm so happy!! Now to not rest on my laurels and make sure I keep up the hard work...!

Good work on the decluttering tomato, that must be most satisfying! How I wish I could tackle our house! Think that particular pillar is going to have to wait until my youngest DC starts school in the autumn and I get a bit of time to myself!

Hope everyone else had success on the scales this morning!

DesertIslandPenguin · 23/01/2017 12:57

Well done, MrsD! That's a great loss. I'm plodding on, meals are still on Method but my timings are all over the place as DH has a week off and my normal routine has gone to pot. Going away for my birthday at the weekend so I'm trying to be as sensible as possible beforehand.

tomatoplantproject · 23/01/2017 17:28

Well done MrsD. All that hard work this week has paid off!! StarStar

I'm down 2lb - half a stone in total. Yay!!!!

Desert - you're definitely allowed a bit of time off for special occasions xx

MrsDesperado · 23/01/2017 21:14

Thank you!!

Well done tomato - half a stone overall is brilliant, I can't wait to get to that landmark
StarStarStar

Ooh lucky you Desert! a birthday weekend away sounds like a great reason to step out of the inner circle Cake

Today I've only managed c. 5000 steps but I did do a 30 minute workout earlier. I've not been feeling very hungry today so have only had soup for dinner. Going out on Thursday night for some beers a curry so probably just as well.

Off to bed soon as am shattered.

pollycazalet · 24/01/2017 13:16

Hello I have been looking at this and wondering how good the recipes are if you don't eat meat? I do eat fish.....

MrsDesperado · 24/01/2017 15:52

Hi Polly, they are pretty good - there are lots of recipes for veggie salads - plus in a lot of the meals that contain meat she says you can substitute for beans or tofu or fish etc if you like. It's very flexible. I'd recommend having a flick through her books in your local bookstore and see what you think!

tomatoplantproject · 24/01/2017 17:50

Hi Polly. I would echo MrsD and say yes but if you can check out some of her recipes before then do. I mainly have bircher for breakfast and salad or soup for lunch, both veggie, and there are lots of fish/tofu/egg type recipes for supper. You do have to like nuts in all sorts of guises too.

SW1A1AA · 25/01/2017 23:19

Hi there. Am just about to start this. Can I ask about the exercise? If you don't get to do it but do manage 90 mins of beginner's yoga does that count?

Also what if you don't get your steps up? Is it OK to make up the deficit on other days?

pollycazalet · 26/01/2017 09:05

Thanks - have got the book and am going to start it tomorrow once I have done an online shop! Are you all pretty much following her recipes?

tomatoplantproject · 26/01/2017 17:40

Yay Polly! You can join our little gang!! I have been following her pretty religiously food wise with the very occasional slip up.

SW I haven't been doing her exercise plan, but I do normally go to yoga 2-4 times a week. If you read LP she says that doing her HIIT type exercises is the best for weight loss and can be done at home but the main thing is to do something (and you are more likely to stick with something if you do enjoy it) and do something regularly rather than once in a while.

DesertIslandPenguin · 27/01/2017 13:43

Popped on an old pair of jeans this morning and I was all like, "Oh my god, look at my butt!" It's a good three inches perkier than it used to be 🍑 I shan't be rushing out for new jeans just yet as I am all bloated from, I think, too much white flour. Birthday cake and pizza. Worth it but looking forward to getting back into things on Monday. Hoping for dry weather and lots of walking while we're away this weekend!!

lalamumto3 · 27/01/2017 17:30

Hi can I join you, have been following the plan since last Monday, not weighed myself, (scales in cupboard as instructed).

Feeling much healthier and slimmer.

pollycazalet · 27/01/2017 22:38

Day one done and not easy as have a stinking cold and feel dreadful. Have stuck to the eating but not able to do any exercises - have barely moved off the sofa. We usually have pizza and wine on Fridays but am feeling so rough I haven't missed either. Just done a Bircher for breakfast and off to bed.

tomatoplantproject · 28/01/2017 07:49

Happy birthday Desert!! Hope you have a lovely weekend away, enjoying the looseness of you clothes WineCakeFlowersStarGrin

Welcome to our newbies (am ion phone so difficult to namecheck).

No dd for me this weekend so lots of yoga, eating all my healthy food before it goes off, decluttering and doing some nice things. I'm also starting to find my clothes getting a bit looser which is a bit of spur to keep going Smile
