I'm 4 pounds down since jan 1st. V pleased with that . I'm back to exercising now so making use of my cross trainer and DVDs whilst running and attending bootcamp where possible!

I'm 46,5ft 11 and weigh 14st 6 pounds. Never been lower than 12.7 and was bordering on too skinny at that point, but will see

calzone · 07/01/2015 07:33

I am 44 (tomorrow), 5ft 6' and weigh 13 St 7lb. ConfusedConfused

My first target is 12 stone.

Joining SW tonight.

Octopus37 · 07/01/2015 07:58

I am 40 on Friday so am eligible after that, trying to lose between 9 and 11 pounds, 1 pound down already. Have downloaded a pedometer and did 17000 steps yesterday, trying to eat mindfully, hoping to be another pound or two down by my birthday (2 days to go)

Ingles2 · 07/01/2015 08:05

Yes please.. I'm 42 and heavier than I've ever been at 13st 7.. Started diet. on Monday with my fitness pal and am also doing dry January. Have had a very difficult christmas resulting in the death of my mil last week , but I've used wine as a crutch which explains a 5 lb gain in the last month ?? first goal is 12 stone.

zippyandbungle · 07/01/2015 08:12

I'm in just stepped on the scales 10 minutes ago and 6lb on over Christmas. I'm 43 5'3 and now 10st 1lb. I don't carry it well, it's all around my middle and I feel awful. As well as most of my clothes are either horribly uncomfortable or don't fit. And I'm bursting out of my bras and not in a good way.
I'm back on 5:2 and hoping to lose 15lb.

calzone · 07/01/2015 16:53

Ingles.....we are the same weight!!!

We should challenge each other. GrinGrin

Homealonemom · 07/01/2015 19:31

Hi. I am 47 5ft2 and 9stone 12. The heaviest I have ever been.
My target is 8st 10 by Easter.

Silverstreaks · 07/01/2015 20:08

I'm happy to join you. I'm 49, 5'10 and as of yesterday weighing 12st 7lb.
My body has been behaving very strangely since spring with weight going up and down (Pre menopause) sometimes as much as half a stone within a week.
I'm trying an elimination approach after reading goods things on Mark's daily apple and The Whole 30 . So I can eat protein, veg, fruit, nuts and seeds and fat. After 30 days you start adding things back in and hopefully find out what is ailing you. I'd like to be back to 11st 2lb in the future.

zippyandbungle · 08/01/2015 12:15

How's everone doing? I've just bought river cottage veg for inspiration on bulking meal times with more fresh vegetables. Also trying desperately to eliminate sugar but it is so HARD and I don't have a particularly sweet tooth.

hellsbellsmelons · 08/01/2015 16:35

I am 46 - 5ft 3 and 9st 11 (in the morning naked) and 10st 0.5 when weighed at SW last night.
I want to be 9st 2 at slimming club so that would mean 8st 13 at home. So I have 12lbs to lose. If I can hit a stone then even better.
I lost just over half a stone prior to my holiday at the beginning of December but spectacularly fell off the wagon all through December and the beginning of January.
I also gave up smoking on Monday so it's gonna be a struggle.
Gone well so far today. Just need to keep going and hope to be at goal in 12 weeks time!
Good luck everyone - we CAN do it!

BIWI · 08/01/2015 16:36

Why over 40? What difference does your age make? As, presumably, you're not menopausal, which does make a difference to weight loss?

26Point2Miles · 08/01/2015 16:43

How does it make a difference biwi? I'm over 40, I'm 46 and def menopausal but not seeing difference in ability to lose weight at all?

26Point2Miles · 08/01/2015 16:44

You've got me all worried now!!

Tinofroses · 08/01/2015 18:29

Hey all I would love to join in. I am 46 and do think I'm menopausal and it plays havoc with my weigh. I am 13st 10 and 5ft 6 as of yesterday back at sw. My aim is 20 lb off by August and I would be happy with that to start. Starting properly today so hoping for a loss next Wednesday night.

HeffalumpsnWoozles · 08/01/2015 18:33

I'm 42 and want to lose at least a stone to get down to 9st 4lb at 5' 4" it's all sat on my middle and clothes don't sit right. Managed to lose 2st last year but gained 5lb over Christmas & can't get back on the WW wagon. Start the day with good intentions but by tea time I've scoffed something I shouldn't!

BIWI · 08/01/2015 20:52

It's hormonal, 26Point2Miles

... although more recent research, I think, is beginning to challenge this.

If it makes you feel better, I lost 2 stones when I definitely menopausal, so it's not impossible! But a lot of women report that it can be harder.

But as the average age for the menopause is 52, I still ask why this thread is about being over 40?

zippyandbungle · 08/01/2015 21:11

biwi maybe it's just something we that we have in common or we're at the same stage in our lives.

Why is it an issue to you?

BIWI · 08/01/2015 21:33

I didn't say it was an issue! I just wanted to know!

Ingles2 · 09/01/2015 18:52

I think it,s because lots of women are peri menopausal over the age of 40 BIWI and it does make a difference to hormones/metabolism and how you lose weight. I saw my gp recently to talk about my thyroid and see why it was becoming so difficult to lose weight.. She talked about peri-meno and also said that was when genetic disposition would start to play a part.. Sadly I am becoming the shape of both my mother and my grandmother...
Anyway, I've been pretty good this week..my difficult time is now when I'm gagging for a bottle glass of wine and my husband cooks ( he's really good :( ) so will try to remain good over the weekend and hopefully lose a lb or 2 when I weigh in on Monday.. Hope everyone else is having a good week.

Tinofroses · 09/01/2015 20:11

I have been out for an early dinner as a treat after a hard week back at work. I had fish and steamed veg. I did have a goat cheese starter and refused dessert. Feeling very satisfied and happy with myself. I drove so also abstained from wine so it all helps. Hope we all keep motivated over the weekend.

fidelma · 10/01/2015 19:42

I'm 40 5ft 5 and down to 9.5 ( having been 9.11 at the start of December) that's the heaviest I've ever been and I didn't feel good.
I'm feeling much better now. I would like to be between 9-9.3 I used to be 8.7 but 4 children later and being perimenopausal I think 9-9.3 is now right for me. I've been using my fitness pal. I find it very good. It does stop me eatting once I have reached my target.

26Point2Miles · 10/01/2015 20:26

Having a glass of wine with dinner. Been rushed off my feet at work, up and down ladders etc so I'm knackered! Been good all week and going for my long training run tomorrow ( aiming for a ten miler).... There, have I justified one glass??

Jynxed · 10/01/2015 21:31

May I join you? I am feeling very bad about myself and really need a bit of support to stop me giving up. I am 49.5 and dont want to be fat at 50. I am 5 ft 3 (159 cms) and my weight seems to vary every day. This morning I was 10 stone 11, wwhich is at least 20llbs over weight, 2 stone off would be better. But I get so hungry when I diet! I just dont know what to eat to keep me from starving but does not make me fat. I work very long hours so I cant get to a slimming club. Help!

Tinofroses · 11/01/2015 09:17

Hi jynxed can you join something online maybe or just look up some books or magazines. I'm trying to have fruit and yoghurt for breakfast or eggs and wholemeal toast. Fruit snack mid morning. Lunch is soup and crispbreads, dinner is meat , veg and some potatoes. I'm trying to ease off the pasta and noodles as I eat too much. I had a few biscuits yesterday which does not help though , don't know how why I just can't cop on. So far no weight loss since Wednesday showing on my scales.
