Looking for likeminded MNers who want to stay on track this year.

Just started yesterday and I think I am down 3/4 lb (but have been gorging all Christmas so needed a kickstart!).

Please join for fit and fabulous over forties! Give an intro and what your first goal will be for January 2015.

That's great silverstreaks. Amazing result.
I to am doing well. I need to do a weigh in but I'm feeling good.
My fitness pall has really worked for me.
How is everyone else doing?

hellsbellsmelons · 20/01/2015 10:21

Wow - 6lbs in 2 weeks is a great result.
Glad this is working for you.
I weigh in tomorrow. Not hopeful but maybe another 1lb off.
As long as it's going in the right direction I'm happy.

Tinofroses · 22/01/2015 23:41

Sorry I so long in posting. Down 2 lb last night . I am feeling so much more motivated and hope to keep on plan. Feel better and happier in myself .

hellsbellsmelons · 23/01/2015 09:20

Well done.
I managed to lose 1.5lbs this week.
It's all going in the right direction.
It's the weekend though and it all goes to pot a bit.
Will try to stay motivated!

bishboschone · 23/01/2015 09:28

I'm 40 and trying to lose weight .. I've joined the gym and doing weight watchers .. I'm not getting anywhere really .. Very frustrating !!

Zalen · 23/01/2015 11:36

Hi, I'm 47, 5ft 6 and, as of this morning 13st 2. Please can I join you ladies.

November 2013 I realised I was about to go back over 15st and so started actively trying to lose weight instead of just trying vaguely to 'be good'. In about 4 months I managed to get down to just under 12st but as of 15th January (when I finally plucked up courage to get back on the scales after Christmas) I was back to 13st 6.6.

I train in Martial Arts 4 times a week and once the snow clears I plan to start cycling to work once a week and running 2-3 times a week.

I found Slimfast helpful last year when I lost the weight so am using the shakes again, a shake for breakfast and evening meal during the week, I've also started getting graze boxes and limiting myself to 2 of their snacks a day during the week. I then have a ready meal for my lunch and a weight watchers snack or two during the day.

I'd like to be back under 12 stone by mid March, but that's 17lb in 7 weeks so not particularly realistic so I'll set my first target as 12.5 stone by mid March, that's 9lb in 7 weeks and should be doable.

Tinofroses · 24/01/2015 14:56

Zalen congrats on your losses so far and I applaud you on your determination and will power to do all that exercise.
I am doing ok since wed night. Had a bit of a bad day yesterday and ate a load of rubbish but walked last night and am going walking in the morning with my colleague. Am trying to choose healthier options. Would love another 1lb this week. I would love to lose it all in the next 8 weeks but realistically I'm doing well if I lose 4 lbs every month and kept that off. That's how I'm trying to approach it this time. I would love to be trimmer and fitter for the summer and not be out of breath on my hols. Hope all have a good weekend .

Zalen · 26/01/2015 11:34

Thanks Tinofroses, to be honest the determination is mainly to get a black belt before I'm 50, I hope that if I can lose some serious weight before then it will make that black belt grading easier. A bad weekend, back to 13st 6, I think I have the week under control, I need to get weekends back on plan.

DeanKoontz · 27/01/2015 12:31

Hi, can I join? I've been lurking since having an op on the day this thread started, but am just about feeling recovered enough to join in, though I can't do any exercise for another 2 months.

I'm 5'4" and 11stone 11lb's. I'd like to get down to 10st by August if I can.

I had lost 10lb in December, but sitting on my bum for the last 3 weeks has resulted in that all going back on even though I've been fairly careful about what I eat. I'm usually very active.

I'm going to do a weekly weigh in at home as I can't get out to ww or sw.

So, my meal plan for today is:
B: Fruit and yoghurt.
L: houmous and wholemeal toast
D: something involving wild rice and kale.

Feeling quite motivated by all your losses.

Tinofroses · 29/01/2015 07:18

Hi dean, hope your on the mend and welcome. I am sad to report I stayed the same this week but I was not very good. Had choc or something not very diet like every day. As a result I am constipated so need to behave as of now. I was actually good yesterday so will be extra careful this week. Was in such a good zone I can't believe I let go again.

fidelma · 29/01/2015 21:00

I've not been the best for the last 10 days. Not terrible but just not very good :(
I have been under the weather and have had ear infection that has needed antibiotics.
I dare not stand on the scales as I think it will upset me. I suspect I'm about 5lb off my goal weight. So not to bad but still not where I want to be. We go on holiday in 9 days so please help me get some motivation back.

Silverstreaks · 03/02/2015 07:38

Zalen you sound amazingly fit.
How is the cold making everyone feel? I seem to be drinking endless cups of herbal/fruity tea in order not to graze the contents of the kitchen!

velvetspoon · 03/02/2015 07:50

Hello, hope I can join in....I'm 42, 5 ft 6 and 14st 11. Have just rejoined SW (I find the weekly weigh in keeps me on track!) and lost 5lb on my first week.

I know I'll be able to get down to 13.5st, have done it before but then I seem to plateau and can't get beyond it and give up! Determined to try and persevere beyond that as would like to get down to 12st.

I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and do up to an hour on the treadmill, which I'm hoping will assist my loss.

piggychops · 03/02/2015 08:00

Another over 40 here. It just depresses me that, at my age, there is such a fine line between losing weight and gaining it.
Does this mean that once the weight is off I have to think about food and what I am eating for the rest of my life??

WenReay · 03/02/2015 08:50

Just over 50, 5ft 7ins and now weigh 12st. Want to settle around 11st 6lbs and have lost about 4lbs since Xmas but have plateaued totally and losing nothing now.

I finally worked out my daily calories intake and seem to be eating around 800 kcals a day - which feels far too little - but on this, I'm not losing anymore weight.

Posted another thread about my heart rate decreasing since dieting and I wonder if my system has just 'slowed down' to compensate for fewer calories? Could it be my age/hormones, although I'm not menopausal yet - just a bit perimenopausal?

Sadly no time at all to exercise, as v busy with working more than f/t and still got school-aged DCs (and I'm a single mum). So got to lose weight through cutting down calories. Any 'older' women (in 50s) having the same problem losing weight, even on a tiny amount of food?

Tinofroses · 05/02/2015 15:24

Hello everyone. Velvet that's a great first week. I also plateaued this week and last and was so depressed after weigh in yesterday I ate a tom of stuff , really bad stuff. Even burnt cake I made. Please help me get back on track , I know deep down I can do this .

Silverstreaks · 21/02/2015 12:22

Hey over 40s, how is everyone doing on their various approaches? After my initial easy drop things have slowed right down. It now seems to be about half a pound a week. Not much of a mental boost when on the scales but its beginning to show in my clothes.
Tell me how you are doing.

Jemmi · 15/03/2015 17:58

Silverstreaks how are you doing now?

busyboysmum · 15/03/2015 20:17

Hi there. I'm 45 5 foot 7 and weighed 11 stone 10lbs when you started in January. I'm going to weight watchers and was 11 stone when I weighed in last week. So slow but going in the right direction. I can't exercise at the moment as have tendonitis which is really limiting my weight loss. Very annoying as I got a treadmill for Christmas and was walking then running for half an hour each evening. So Feb was a washout and I still have lingering pain but feeling more positive now March and lighter days are here. I have now started having a mainly vegetable smoothie for breakfast, soup with a roll for lunch and a normal tea.

Silverstreaks · 19/03/2015 10:51

Jemmi a stone removed now which is great. It's been easy and apart from one crazy crumpet and cheese blowout I haven't had any cravings. How are you doing?
busyboys slow and steady is the way to do it. Are you where you want to be now ? Is it just veggies in your smoothie or do you have protein too?

busyboysmum · 19/03/2015 19:04

I got the juicing book and have read it (Jason Vale) but I think it's too hardcore for me. So I'm doing some of his juice recipes as smoothies. But there isn't any protein in. What do you recommend?

I was hoping to get back to my pre baby weight which means another 10lbs to go.

Silverstreaks · 24/03/2015 14:37

busyboys I was just wondering if you felt full for long if it was just straight fruit and veg. You could add powdered protein. Or if you're feeling brave raw egg.
There are some great flavours in protein powders.
You've done well, 10 down and 10 to go.

busyboysmum · 24/03/2015 21:37

Thanks I might try that. My dangerous time is once we've had lunch for some reason I just don't want to stop eating. I think I have stalled at the moment and am scared to weigh myself because I don't think I have lost any weight.
