Sorry for only lurking, but I am in the final stages of Body Revolution and I am just too tired sometimes.

Hope we'll get a little sunshine and we'll all get better.

Thanks for the motivation though.

threestepsforward · 22/04/2013 15:53

Hi everyone :)

Ponks I hope you can get in to see someone soon, poor you. It will be good to know exactly what's going on with it so you can devise a plan of action, wishing you speedy recovery vibes x

Gingercat you're nearly there!!

Mothersmilk glad you're feeling better today - I think there are some days when you're just not up for the heavy stuff (mentally or physically). Your plans for the day sound lovely!

Notnowbernard how is L3 going?

Well after being off just under a week with the pesky arm, I'm now back in the groove again :) Did L1 S&S today, planning L2 tomorrow and then the double on Wednesday, yee ha!

Am away Friday for a long weekend for brother's 40th birthday so am going to try and do some JM'ing every day up until then...

Everyone is doing so well, keep going! Defo agree notnowbernard, this thread is such a great motivator...

Have a good, sunny rest of day everyone

Did day 1 Level 3 Shred this morn!
I think I prefer it to L2 (ask me in a few days thoughWink)

Felt a bit jelly-legged after - and CANNOT do a rock star jump to save my life - but was amazed I didn't feel like I was going to cark it at the end (like I did after day 1 Level 1). It's spurred me on that's for sure...

Am very tentatively looking at Couch to 5k Shock

threestepsforward · 22/04/2013 21:30

Way hey notnowbernard, nice one Grin

When you compare today to how you felt after D1, L1 it's a big difference isn't it? Early days of L3 was when it seemed like all the changes came together for me after being worried I wasn't seeing many, that may be why it's still my favourite Shred level!

Oh and rock stars are defo hard at first - trusting yourself that your legs will return to earth quick enough! They do get easier though...

PeggyO - I have to say I haven't gone back to Jillian since discovering Bob (and Jackie Warner - now she is good for abs).

I have done Pure Strength the most, and enjoy it. This weekend I tried Cardio Conditioning once and Yoga for the Warrior. I really liked the yoga one. Have you done it? I am still aching in my legs and bum from yesterday. Some crazy moves in there though. I do love a bit of Bob!

gingercat12 · 23/04/2013 12:08

notnowbernard I am sure my rockstar jumps are rubbish, but you just have to do your best. I jump high and get sweaty by the end anyway.

There are two exercises I just cannot do for the life of me on this level, and at first it put me off. But now I think I could not do crab dance, crab kicks or even a side plank a few months ago, and these so easy for me now. So I'll get there in the end. If not this time, the next time.

mothersmilkandherchickenseggs · 23/04/2013 14:23

5.30 this morning I was up with jillian (shameful boast) im so pleased with myself, iv found that working out early really curbs my appetite though iv not felt like eating all day just had to force down a ham omlette im thinking perhaps making myself have a protine shake straight afterwards might be an idea so I have at least something for the day,
hope everyone is enjoying the sun

PeggyO · 23/04/2013 18:03

Some brilliant working out going on here everyone! Well done notnowbernard on L3! Rockstar jumps are hard, just do what you can to begin with and you will soon find you can get higher.

A big well done to you too mothersmilk for your early start! Boast away, nobody minds here Grin

You are doing so well gingercat, I can't believe you are nearly at the end of your BR journey. It seems like only yesterday that we were all so excited that it had arrived!

threesteps, Bob Harper's DVDs are a good step up from Jillian I think. They are all longer (about an hour) and feel more intense to me. The moves themselves are pretty straightforward but he combines them cleverly and makes you continue with each move for longer than Jillian does. I would really recommend them to anyone looking for a new challenge!

MissT, I do love Pure Strength and really enjoyed Cardio Conditioning too. My obliques were so sore the day after Cardio Conditioning which really surprised me as that standing abs section at the end felt like a relief at the time - clearly it was working me harder than I had realised!

I also have Total Body Transformation which he bills as the hardest workout ever on DVD - it's definitely the hardest that I have done! It's just relentless. The jumping jacks and sprinting on the spot are basically your rest intervals where you get your breath back, which gives an idea of the intensity of the rest of it. I do have the yoga one too but haven't tried it yet, does it feel gentler than the other ones or do you still work up a sweat?

Sadly I have injured myself yet again (my knee this time) so am on a Bob ban until I've seen the sports physio on Friday. I really need to focus on my half marathon in June, so I might have to cut back on my workout DVDs for a while as I'm worried they are making my injuries worse... Sad

notyummy · 23/04/2013 21:05

Ooh inspired to try more Bob now when I am recovered from op! Probably not the best one to start back with after what will be nearly a 6 month lay off. 5 mile walk again today and still doings double Callenetics.

Ponks · 23/04/2013 23:09

notyummy you are amazing doing so much exercise when you must be in such pain. When is the op?

gingercat - it is such a good feeling when you can suddenly do an exercise that you previously found impossible!

bernard yay for L3! I really like the strength exercises in the last circuit of L3. But yes, the rockstars are a killer.

Well I saw physio today and have been diagnosed with problems with the iliotibial band between hip and knee. Also known as "runners knee". Good news is that it can be improved with massage and lots of stretching so fingers crossed, though not sure how long it will take. Anyone had this before?

notyummy · 24/04/2013 06:50

I haven't had that Ponks but know it is really common. Have you got a foam roller? I dimly remember them being recommended for it. DH is running a marathon next month and has one that he tortures himself with in the evenings!

Op is three weeks tomorrow. Looking forward to it in a strange way as I just want something done that will improve me, even if for a few weeks I will be a bit worse! The prognosis is good so fingers crossed.

Gavotte · 24/04/2013 19:12

Hello everyone! I've been lurking for a couple of weeks - I'm on L3 day 1 of the shred. Those of you who have moved onto bigger and better Jillian things - what would you recommend to do next? Priorities for me are strength and the spare tyre that sits just below my middle (waist, bizarrely, is fine) since having DD2 9 months ago. Also nothing too long as I'm short on spare time! Thank you, and also for keeping me quietly motivated when I got to the 'ow' part of shredding...

Gavotte · 24/04/2013 19:14

Ps notnowbernard - ditto on the rock star jumps and also the jump lunges - ouch!!

threestepsforward · 24/04/2013 21:17

PeggyO thanks so much for the Bob summary :) I don't think I'm ready to step it up yet but that would be a logical progression so will watch out for Bob reports with interest...

Notyummy 3 weeks to go! I can understand completely when you say you're looking forward to it although it's not an event to look forward to. You must be climbing the walls to get back into things properly, not long now! Glad to hear you're finding stuff to do in the meantime :)

Welcome Gavotte! Congrats on reaching L3 of Shred! To follow Shred, I'd say Ripped in 30 is a good option if time is an issue. It's pretty much the same time and format as Shred, but with 4 levels rather than 3. It combines strength and cardio like Shred. It's more of an all over workout rather than targeting specific areas like Killer or 6 Week 6 Pack. I'd say Levels 2, 3 and 4 are a definite step up from Shred so would be a good next stage.

If you can fit in an extra 10 mins, Extreme Shed & Shred is also great. There are 2 x 30 min workouts and she encourages you to do both levels back to back - which you could maybe do when you have more time, and stick to just one level when you don't?

You are spoilt for choice with Jillian Grin

My plans for this week have gone awry again, doh! Too much to do with too little time before I go away on Friday. Did nothing yesterday and L3 Shred today as it was shorter than S&S. Really want to do a S&S tomorrow though before the weekend - hopefully I can make the time...

Well done everybody, sorry not to namecheck everyone!

OP posts:
Gavotte · 24/04/2013 22:53

Thanks, threesteps - I've just googled Ripped and it looks perfect (harder than Shred, though? Yikes). Hope you manage to fit your workouts in!

threestepsforward · 25/04/2013 16:46

Gavotte, fear not! L1 Ripped is probably a bit easier than Shred so you get acclimatised gently :)

Yay, ended the week on a bang rather than a whimper with a double S&S session Grin

That's it for me now until next week some time. Will be lots of lovely food and walks over the next 4 days or so, can't wait!

See you all next week, happy JM'ing (and Bobbing Wink)

Threesteps x

Have a lovely weekend 3Steps Grin

Day 2 Level 3 done. Rest day yesterday and busy tues but did manage to go to a yoga class so at least did something that day. Hope to do something daily until wed next week now

Hi to everyone!

Gavotte · 26/04/2013 09:50

Erm, does level 3 shred get any easier?

collapses in a heap

Enjoy the exercise and the weekend, everyone!

notnowbernard · 26/04/2013 09:58

Hi Gavotte Grin

L3 is hard but I prefer it to L2, do you?

The travelling push ups I have to do on my knees though

And sit ups I have to do Anita (will try and get to Natalie level thoughWink)

bettycocker · 26/04/2013 13:06

How's everyonen doing?

Is anyone feeling it in their knees?

notnowbernard · 26/04/2013 13:45

Hi Betty Smile

Am generally ok (have got used to a permanent, low-level aching all over Wink)

But today my left knee hurts a bit if I've been kneeling then try to stand (on the floor a lot, have a 2yo)

Level 3 is quite hardcore with the jumping though, isn't it?! (Shred)

Jacksterbear · 26/04/2013 14:14

Gaah, wrote a really long post last night, with personalised messages for you all and everything, but it doesn't seem to have posted on here and has disappeared! Confused

Been out of the game for a while due to various things going on in my life, but managed a ripped L1 yest and a shred L3 today to ease myself back into it! gavotte yes shred L3 is still hard even after 2years of Jillianing!

3steps, hope u are enjoying your weekend away. Ponks, PeggyO and notyummy hope you are doing ok with your various injuries. And great work notnowbernard and everybody else!

Gavotte · 26/04/2013 22:13

notnowbernard I wish I did! I'm now developing fond memories of level 2, which I didn't expect... Think my strength is all legs (previous runner/cyclist) so find the arm/plank/supporting own weight thing hard. On the plus side, I'm getting some good Pop-Eye style shoulders.

jacksterbear not sure if I'm comforted or concerned that it remains hard two years in!

notyummy · 27/04/2013 09:53

In hotel gym walking on treadmill -makes a change from walking laps of my town! One lot of Callenetics done- one more to go. Inspired by you lot to buy another couple of Bob H DVDs for after my recovery.
