Hi all, I joined slimmig world yesterday as I finally ready and motivated to get this weight off. Anyone else? Is there a support thread for those following slimming world? As I couldn't see one on here. If not anyone interested in helping to support each other here?

welcome Cathy,

well due to all the snow my day of high calorie drinking is cancelled so am back on it today forGrin had two slices of toast for my breakfast and Dh just suggested a family tea out at the Toby to make up for my non day out Confused

i am going to do some exercise this week and try and kick start it all all tips welcome.

glenthebattleostrich · 23/02/2013 11:18

Hello, can I join please? I joined SW a week and a half ago, got 4st to loose (well 3st 101/2 after first weigh in!)

Cherry, just checked my book and wholemeal flour is 4 syns per 25g, sorry!

glenthebattleostrich · 23/02/2013 11:21

Sorry, question on syns, I'm struggling to have mine. I've given up alcohol for lent and am snacking on fruit and veg. Don't really eat many takeaways and if I have sweets or biscuits in the house I binge.

My question, finally!, is can I 'save' syns for the next day. So if I only have 4 one day, can I have 26 the next day? So can go for a treat in Costa or something?

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/02/2013 11:44

well done tiger

androb i also had a toby wednesday and lots of c cheese and roast tats, think i syned it at 25

bean well done for sts

cathy welcome - i rarely go to the gym as so manic working at the moment as work night so too tirred to go am and claases that are on in evening,im working

cherry flour isnt an extra - if you want to make pancakes, then use eggs, mullier light and oats as b - and then sweetner if want sweet ones

you also need some protein with carbs, to fill you up - ie chicken salmon, eggs etc with your tea or will be hungry - and why water down salad cream :(

b weetabix (b) chopped fruit and low fat yog (1)
l chilli prawn linguini and veg
t salmon, ruce and veg

possibly large gin tonight so 3/4syns

Me23 · 23/02/2013 15:15

Hi glen yes you can save your syns up many people do this eg save syns for big night out etc... I also do this sometimes for eg yesterday I had a pizza 26 syns! So will make sure I lower my syns over the week so it evens out.

CherryPie3 · 23/02/2013 15:23

Bugger about the flour (thank you for looking for me!), but I had nothing else in the pantry so not too worried. I have the right ingredients for the SW pancakes now so ill give them a whirl for the kids next time Smile

Was very good this morning, dh wanted McDonalds so off we went...he had the double egg mcmuffin meal and I had porridge, plain. Felt very pleased with myself for saying no thanks SmileSmile

Wish I could read everyone else's posts properly so I can reply but it's so awkward on the talk iPhone app! Sorry for not mentioning anyone, I do read your posts though!

Xx

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/02/2013 15:50

needstodiet · 23/02/2013 16:35

I do a recipe that requires coating the fish in plain flour. Clearly use very little.

How many SYNs (if any) should I put down for this?

glenthebattleostrich · 23/02/2013 16:49

It's so cold: it really puts me off healthy eating!

Today

HEb : hifi bar (had it at midnight, had the munches, but it was technically today!)

B: baked beans and a satsuma, then a diet coke and another satsuma

L: out for a curry before football, but had lots of undressed salad, plain rice, chicken tikka pieces and some Bombay potato that didn't look too oily, in fact was very dry and had fresh fruit salad for pud (with a tiny portion of Indian rice pudding, it's irresistible, but I did have just one small spoonful. Then a bovril at the match

D: will be spaghetti putanesca, with salad and a bit of cheese (hea)

Snacks - wine and champers (half price in co-OP) am testing it out as if its nice I'll get a few bottles in....too many liquid syns but generally today has been ok. Might need a bracing walk tomorrow at some point.

LollipopViolet · 23/02/2013 20:18

Today, I had:

B - None, wasn't hungry, so waited til lunchtime.
L - 2 egg omelette with a little bit of cheese (one of my HE's, can't remember which), peppers and mushrooms. Cooked it all in Frylite and it was lovely!
D - Caribbean Lamb from the SW website, with carrots, broccoli and new potatoes.
Snacks - An apple

Syns - 9.5. 6 from an isotonic sports drink, and 3.5 from the Caribbean lamb (it's actually only 1/2 a syn, but we couldn't get all the fat off the lamb, so I'm taking a wild guess at that.

Dinner was lovely, recipe is here if anyone wants to try it.

I've got the rest of the peppers and mushrooms to try and concoct something for my lunch tomorrow, any ideas?

tigerdriverII · 23/02/2013 20:46

I'd go for another omelette, lollipop. The only other thing that springs to mind is putting them in a tomato based pasta sauce.

I have eggs and smoked salmon for breakfast tomorrow, I mix it up with some 0% yog, we all have it and no one misses the butter that I'd normally use.

androbbob · 23/02/2013 21:07

Evening! Welcome to Cathy and Glenthebattleostrich - step in and have a go and ask anything you want, however daft it may seem, someone here will know the answer.

blondes - I didnt have roast potatoes, so maybe 15 syns?

Made a variation on the diet coke chicken today - pepsi max chicken! It was delicious and there is some left for tomorrow.

LollipopViolet · 23/02/2013 21:11

Tiger I was actually thinking a nice pasta dish - just need to find a nice tomato based sauce to use.

tigerdriverII · 23/02/2013 21:22

Here you go:

Just chop up a couple of onions and a few cloves of garlic, cook in fri lite till translucent

Add chopped up peppers, cook for a bit

Sling in a tin of toms or some passata, maybe a second tin

Cook for a bit, with salt, pepper, and any fresh or dried herbs you fancy

Sling the mushrooms in at the end

Could go mad and add a tablespoon of olive oil per person (HEb).

Yum. Serve with cheese (hea)

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/02/2013 22:33

i actually prefer pepsi max and use that

add chopped veg to rice and do a risotto thing

or add to pasta 'n' sauce

KissMyGrits · 24/02/2013 08:28

We went out for DS's birthday yesterday I had soup and a bread roll for lunch, the bread roll was 9 syns!!!

Also had a curry, cake and some wine later on but it was a lovely day and I'm normally very good so I'm not going to stress about it too much. Plus I walked around the NRM York for 3 hours so must have burnt a few calories!

Back on it today though, keep going ladies I think we're all doing great!

Lollipop I'm going to try that caribbean lamb tonight, thanks!

LollipopViolet · 24/02/2013 11:22

Well, I've missed breakfast (again) and am only just getting peckish, so might go and have some fruit before I start working on my lunch.

Think I'm going to fry my peppers and mushrooms with some tinned tomatoes and serve with pasta.

Am out tonight, watching ice hockey. Usually end up eating chips or chocolate because the ready meal rubbish I normally eat for lunch, leaves me hungry by 6pm. Hopefully a home cooked meal will be better. If not, I'll take 2 Alpen Light bars and maybe some fruit to snack on.

I will lose at weigh in on Wednesday, I will!

Besides, have to be good as I'm away tomorrow night and will not have total control over what I'm eating, due to others cooking etc.

LollipopViolet · 24/02/2013 13:09

Mmmm, just had my lunch Grin

Mushrooms, peppers, tin of tomatoes, black pepper, garlic pepper and onion salt. Fried it all in Frylite, added to pasta and it was LOVELY!

Considering it was just done off the top of my head, I'm rather proud of that little meal :)

beanandspud · 24/02/2013 15:18

Bit of a disastrous day yesterday Blush. Didn't have much apart from fruit for breakfast and lunch (damage limitation?) but then had rather large curry for tea although I had boiled rice and no naan bread. No idea how many syns as it was washed down with a lot of wine.

Had a great night though and trying not to feel too guilty. Today is going a bit better apart from a hot spiced apple juice at a country fair (it was absolutely freezing ::shivers:: and I did avoid the crepes, cupcakes, burgers and other yummy things that were on offer.

Back to normal tomorrow... And counting...

Me23 · 24/02/2013 16:20

We had lunch out with my dad today at frankie and bennys I had the penne arrabiata I have no idea how many syns it is but will say (6). Also had a bite of kids ice cream oops! Will try not to have Any more syns today.

fruitpastilles · 24/02/2013 16:36

Not a very good day today Hmm
Had bacon, egg and spaghetti hoops on toast for breakfast, it was 2 toast, I normally have hovis wholemeal and have 1 as heb and syn the other, but today I had 2 kingsmill 50/50 Hmm
Then I had 5 miniature heroes and now the dinner is in the oven, dp went to asda this morning and come back with a chicken covered in garlic butter, having that without the skin and cabbage and roasties done in the actifry, think I've had about 3 days worth of syns, so no more for me now till Thursday, hopefully I can pull it back!

Well done to all those who lost this week Grin

iklboo · 24/02/2013 19:18

Made Apple Betty for pud later on. Very tasty.

iklboo · 24/02/2013 19:19

But the diet will be far, far out of the window come Mother's Day. DS has planned Harry Ramsden's for lunch Grin
