They give them away in BHS kids section.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 31/12/2012 10:49

No BHS near me. Why do they give them away?

Passmethecrisps · 31/12/2012 10:59

Morning fellow wibblers,

Just checking in with first Monday stats:

Weight 9st 5
Waist 30 inches
Hips 38 inches
Bust 35 inches (are you supposed to measure under? I kind of did round the fullest bit.
Thighs (I HATE my thighs and always have)

If I could get into my size ten jeans without massive overhang I will be delighted.

Right - poo to deal with

Passmethecrisps · 31/12/2012 11:18

Oops. I was so disgusted by my thighs I forgot to log the measurement.

Thighs - 23 inches

projectbabyweight · 31/12/2012 11:29

I really need this thread! Doesn't look like any of my baby weight is going to fall off by itself - have been the same weight since about a week after giving birth (ds2 is 7 weeks).

Now I'm finished having babies I really want my old body back. I'm a smidge under 10st and want to get to 8st, which sounds small but I'm short and pear-shaped. Widest part of hips/bottom is 41.5" and can't get into any trousers except maternity ones. I don't like it!

Plan is low-carb, meal planning, lots of water and exercising when I can (had a c-section so gentle exercise to start with)

Good luck everyone!

wannabedomesticgoddess · 31/12/2012 11:58

Does anyone have any tips on how to low carb on a budget?

DP and I are meal planning for the new year and he keeps saying "its not enough meat" but we just cannot afford a lot of meat. And we dont have a freezer so cant buy in bulk.

I know he could take protein shakes and I could fill up on low carb soups, but Id like us to be eating similar meals.

VisualiseAHorse · 31/12/2012 12:17

What's the 5:2 thing?

Lentils are a good source of protein. I lived off them when I was younger and could only afford meat once a week.

VisualiseAHorse · 31/12/2012 12:26

Here's my weigh-in...cept I have no scales!!

Monday 31st Jan....
Height - 5ft 1"
Hips - 28
Waist - 31 (see what I mean about my middle being bigger then my hips. Not a good look, this is the measurement I am most bothered by).
Thighs - 18
Bust - 24/29

I was 9st pre-pregnancy, and gained 3.5st during!! Have no idea how much I weigh now, will try to get some scales. The above doesn't sound too bad, but I am short, and used to being a size 8/10, rather than a 12/14. I feel like I have been wearing the same clothes for the last 18 months.

Angelico · 31/12/2012 12:28

Hey all! And a special wave at Fjord and Crazypaving! :o

So DD is 14 weeks tomorrow (can't actually believe that!!!). Bizarrely I actually weigh less than I did pre-pregnancy - I was OW when got pregnant, then got gestational diabetes so lost weight with it, then lost more when I had to control carbs for last 5 weeks of pregnancy. Lost a bit more BFing but put some on over Xmas. So long and short of it is I would like to lose about 1.5- 2 stone.

Anyway, weight fell off doing carb control - and not massively controlled, just having one bit of bread with some protein for example. I felt fantastic on my 'diabetes diet' but it involved a lot of cooking which has been tricky with a baby and too many baby groups and lunches

Looking forward to getting some tips and recipes :)

Angelico · 31/12/2012 12:30

Oh - and agree with Visualise re lentils - they were brill when I had GD, lentil soup especially or things like houmous and beans, all pulses good! Unfortunately thery are the one thing I have noticed seems to make our DD more colicky so limited while BFing :( Might start trying them again now that she's a bit older...

VisualiseAHorse · 31/12/2012 12:32

HAH! Don't use a measuring tape out of a cracker. I was just looking at my stats there, and realised they're totally wrong...stupid cheap tape. Use a proper dress-makers tape...the cheap tape 'inches' are about a third bigger!! Here's my stats as they should be!

Hips - 36
Waist - 39
Bust - 34/37
Thigh - 23

Lord above. I need to loose some weight. I hate my thighs rubbing together when I walk.

crazypaving · 31/12/2012 12:57

hi angelico! Grin

yikes just weighed and have gained over Christmas. now 11st 9, goal weight 10st. boo

am bfing so my current plan is to restrict myself to one sensible treat a day. that's challenging enough at the moment as I use bad food as a destressing mechanism...

Prolificmincepiebreeder · 31/12/2012 13:02

Right here are my stats, no tape measure here though. I'll get one on Thursday.
Height: 167cm which I think is about 5ft 5?
Weight: just over 10 stone, couldn't quite see I think 10 stone 2.
I was at my booking in app 8 stone 8!
Sob! Sad
Hoping my trainers will arrive this week.
I'm low carbing as of tomorrow.

Prolificmincepiebreeder · 31/12/2012 13:06

I'm hoping that doing some exercise will give me some motivation, I find it so hard to just get up off the sofa and do anything!

Passmethecrisps · 31/12/2012 13:07

I was massively jealous of your 18" thighs visualise!

Good tip about the cracker tape - could be useful of trying to persuade oneself of thinner wobbly bits --just like wearing jeans for a week and convincing yourself it is you who are thinner not the jeans being looser

ValiumQueen · 31/12/2012 13:12

visualise that was very funny indeed Grin made my day that has!

blondiedollface · 31/12/2012 13:13

Ok, so weigh and measure in here as follows:

Weight: 13st 9lb
Bust: 40 inches
Waist: 35 inches
Hips: 41 inches
Thighs: 24 inches

Wow. So over Christmas I managed to stay the same(ish), however in the period since I have obviously not and have put on half a stone!!! Crapola. Jillian Michaels going on now. No wonder I look shit in all my clothes. Fat bloody bint.

Revelsarethebest · 31/12/2012 13:42

Won slimmer of the week at slimming world, and won slimmer of the month for december!

If i can do it, then anyone can!

This time next year we could all be at target.

ValiumQueen · 31/12/2012 13:48

Well done revels very impressive for Christmas!

OP posts:
funchum8am · 31/12/2012 14:27

Fabulous work revels!

I have been out and done day 2 of couch to 5k. Didn't actually realise it was raining til I opened the door with my rather too tight running gear on so just plunged out and did it anyway! Feeling very pleased with myself, but need to remember it is only the start of a long process Grin

Stats: 5'5"
current weight 12 stone 11
target 10stone 11
weight to lose 2 stone
eventually aiming to be size 14 on bottom half

Good luck for any aiming fo be good at NYE parties tonight!

CandyPop · 31/12/2012 14:58

Ah I got way too excited with the first good night sleep that I forgot to weigh myself! Will do 2mo morning .... I only ever weigh myself first thing in the morning as that's when I'm lightest!! Lol

Just waiting at docs for my post natal check. Fingers cross for an all clear!

Prolificmincepiebreeder · 31/12/2012 15:30

That's brilliant revel well done you :)

wannabedomesticgoddess · 31/12/2012 15:33

Ok here are my measurements.

Height: 5ft10 (shocked at that. I thought I was 5ft9)

Weight: 19st 8lb. :(

Bust (fullest part): 48inches
Waist: 43 inches
Hips: 56 inches.

Overall target loss 6st. Goal weight 13st 8lbs.

Talk about facing up to it. I am Shock

applecrumple · 31/12/2012 15:38

Ok so measurements are:

Waist: 31"
Hips: 41"

Haven't checked anything else as those 2 are the only ones I'm particularly concerned about. No scales so can't weight myself. Aiming to go down from a size 14 to a size 10 - guess that's about 2 stone - isn't it a stone a size???? I know my pre preg waist was around 27/28"

Good luck everyone!

ValiumQueen · 31/12/2012 16:05

Well done everyone for posting their weights and measurements. We are certainly all shapes and sizes. Some of us have so little to lose in comparison, but we can be just as unhappy with our size and shape if we have 1/2 stone to lose or 12 stone. If anything it can be easier for larger ladies as we are rewarded with significant weight loss in the early weeks, and pretty quickly see changes to our shape, and improvements in our health, compared to the ladies with relatively little to lose who may see 1/2 lb go here and there.

We could do a slimmer of the week thing here, but to be fair it would need to be %loss rather than lbs lost. That would take some calculating, and would obviously add a competitive element which may or may not prove helpful. Our ultimate aim, whatever our size, should be an improvement in health and wellbeing. Thoughts appreciated.
