All new mummies welcome. Any exercise and/or weight loss programme acceptable, so long as it is healthy.

I'm assuming us BF ladies can't go losing too much weight so even if there was slimmer of the week we wouldn't necessarily win it as our weight loss would need to be gradual IYSWIM. How about exerciser of the week or something?

Personally I am motivated by my desire to be slimmer and healthier. So a slimmer of the week wouldnt bother me either way.

Some people thrive on competition though so if they needed it for that little extra motivation I wouldnt mind.

I guess I am on the fence :o

kirrinIsland · 31/12/2012 16:44

I'm writing this while eating a mince pie - falling at the first hurdle?!
I'm starting tomorrow assuming there are no mince pies left

I haven't got a tape measure so I'll update measurements next week.
Weight 8 stone 10lb - target 7 stone 10lb

Doesn't sound too bad but I am short and any extra weight shows quickly on me.

Exerciser of the week is a good idea apple - more of a level playing field?

kirrinIsland · 31/12/2012 16:49

visualise 5:2 is eating a very low calorie diet for some days of the week - about 600 - and whatever you like in the other days. Some people fast alternate days, some do 5:2 or 4:3. There is a thread on here somewhere, I can't link on my iPad but a search should bring it up. I need to mug up on the details but it seems to be pretty effective.

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 31/12/2012 18:21

I wouldn't join a competition if that's ok, as I really need to watch going overboard with this. My goal is to be back on form when I go back to my home country at the end of July!

glendathegoodwitch · 31/12/2012 18:24

Afternoon ladies

I've just bought a battery pack for my dusty wii fit board so I can weigh myself on there and a lovely new personalised water bottle so I can start on my little pledges that will gradually increase!!!

Today I've eaten my first piece of fruit that isn't in a trifle, tart or cake for a while!!!

I wrote a list a while back with over 40 reasons to lose weight incl things I'd love to do but am too fat to such as horse riding and salsa lessons - am going to dig it out and read it daily!!!!

Evilwater · 31/12/2012 19:19

1st day- and it has rainier all day. According to my DP exercise machine I have 33% of fat. Just great. 20 mins of exercise done, 10 more to go. I need to make sure LO is sleep first.

Also eaten my first fruit, it was tinned. I'm cutting down on carbs, and portion size as well as having lunch.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 31/12/2012 19:24

Oh evil. After reading that I would love some tinned mandarins and pears. Are tinned fruits ok? Aslong as not in syrup I suppose!

DP weighed himself on the new scales and hes put on 2 stone. Hes a cage fighter but has really not been training due to the new baby/lack of money. So hes on board with me too.

Walking tomorrow!

Evilwater · 31/12/2012 19:26

Wanna it's the only fruit in the house, it is in juice. LO is awake!

Well, I have survived the first day. Done ok. Not felt too deprived. I must admit I felt awfully sad last night as at the moment I feel food is the only treat or pleasure I have in life. I have three wonderful children, and a usually lovely husband, but I am just so very tired. I feel like a milk and juice and nappies machine, cannot go anywhere without at least baby boy, and struggle to go to the loo in peace. Food helps, but it doesn't really. It makes things worse if it is in control. I am feeling better today though.

Ah, VQ, well done. I know what you mean - sometimes it's just food that breaks up the monotony of the day... Just succumbed to two glasses of prosecco and some chocolate. Was dark though Grin and I've stormed the day otherwise... Tomorrow is another year.

TheDetective · 31/12/2012 22:41

I've had a lovely healthy stew for tea. Sadly with bread. But one piece instead of 5 Grin.

Just a shame about the sticky toffee pudding and custard for afters. Hmm

Baby steps Detective, baby steps...!

Evilwater · 31/12/2012 22:46

Failed to do the last 10 mins of exercise on machine. So tired thanks to LO.
Need a better nite time rountine.

Happy new year!

How much time do you get without your DCs? Try as I might, DS (9 weeks) won't sleep without me at any time, so I'm not sure how I'm going to fit exercise in. It also bothers me because I have work to do from home from mid-Jan.

3ForMe · 01/01/2013 08:11

INeed-I broke the sleeping on me habit, by putting dc in a gro bag and putting a water bottle in the Moses basket to warm it up before putting baby in when asleep. Then removing the water bottle.

If that helps?

Though I loved snuggling up with the babies when they're so young. Hope you had a lovely Christmas with your newborn!

Iheartpasties · 01/01/2013 08:31

OK so DH is onboard for healthy eating as from tomorrow! Wohoo. I find myself joking about how fat I am/feel at the moment when really I could weep sometimes. So just knowing we?re both gunna be healthy together feels nice. It means neither of us will buy in chocs and biscuits so that will help. Look realistically we will still have treats at the weekends, but if we can be mostly healthy most of the time I will be happy!! Also as I mentioned before if we can be slightly frugal at the same time I?ll be mega happy.

I am often troughing while BF-ing just as a reward (?) gotta change what I'm stuffing in my face. Gunna go supermarket tomorrow and only buy healthy stuff. Must be good!!!!!

littleredmonkey · 01/01/2013 08:34

Iheartpasties · 01/01/2013 09:00

i'm hoping to buy some weights and a step. maybe next weekend or online.

INeedThatForkOff · 01/01/2013 09:20

Thanks 3ForMe. I have tried that previously but will give it another go tonight. I'm going to try to get more of a routine going from tomorrow, when DH goes back to work, with a regular up-time and naps, so hopefully I'll get organised enough to squeeeeze the exercise in. Really reluctant to get outside in the rain with two of them, so not doing much walking either.

Right, my NYR is to spend less time online (I find smartphones a major distraction!) so 3 check-ins a day is my limit. I'll report back tonight.

Good luck for those starting today (I'm waiting til tomorrow).

INeedThatForkOff · 01/01/2013 09:21

Ps pasties, do you have a DVD in mind for the step? I have a Reebok step in the garage but never use it.

Iheartpasties · 01/01/2013 09:29

I was just going to wing it?! just try and do some moving when ive got 5 or 10 mins if that makes sense!! hoping to do steps and weights and just get heart rate up a few times a day - or minimum 10 mins before my shower! ive git 2 LO's under 22 months.

applecrumple · 01/01/2013 10:42

Is anyone else on here doing elimination diets for the sake of their LO's health? I've cut out dairy, wheat & soy - this automatically cuts out most crap for me!
