Ok, so while I wait to do slimming world (next week) does anyone know what I should be doing? Calorie counting? Fat counting? Both?! Confused

Catbag · 04/01/2013 19:29

That's what I am hoping kirrin. Suspect it might not work like that though :(

YellowWellies · 04/01/2013 19:30

VQ I find structure helps me too! It needs to be simple! Hence I'm eating this every lunch www.marieclaire.co.uk/health/diet/433629/cabbage-soup-diet.html, cereal and oat milk for brekkie and for tea something from the Special k online site or Hairy Dieters recipes. Snacks are fruit fresh or dried and pud is sorbet. Feels good, if farty so far!

Detective I don't count calories but I do plan what I eat to maximise fruit and veg and minimise junk.... doing that seems to minimise both fat and calories.

yuletopian99 · 04/01/2013 19:55

nappyhappy I'm in Manchester! Whereabouts are you?

Been into town to register ds over lunch, so although had bacon/eggs for breakfast and pasta bake for supper, hoping not too bad. Struggling with restraint as we still have chocolate in the house. When do people do fitness dvds? Just as and when LO sleeps?

yuletopian99 · 04/01/2013 19:57

Also, sounds weird but over the last 10 years i trained myself to automatically tense/hold my stomach flat, to the point it feels unnatural not to. Trying to get back into it again now, with only semi-compliant stomach muscles. Will keep practicing..

INeedThatForkOff · 04/01/2013 20:42

At the moment I'm getting no time to do exercise DVDs. Literally none. I might get half an hour tonight to sit with a glass of wine, but at the moment it doesn't look likely. Currently rocking DS in the Moses basket (unsuccessfully) then going to express milk.

VisualiseAHorse · 04/01/2013 20:59

Apple hope you are feeling better :)

Good day today.
Breakfast - cereal
lunch - cheese on toast
snack - a 'graze' box portion, had coconut and almonds in it.
tea - cottage pie. YUM.

Am going to have an ice-cream now. Haven't touched any booze since NYE, and done 3 lots of the 30DS too.

I do my DVD when LO is having his afternoon nap. He's been on the Gina Ford routine since he was a week old, so consistently has a 1.5-2.5 hour nap in the middle of the day. Normally sleeps for 2 hours (if we're not going anywhere), which gives me time to work out, shower, eat and rest a wee bit before he wakes.

Titsalinabumsquash · 04/01/2013 21:00

Doing ok here today,

Breakfast - yoghurt and apple
Lunch - slow cooked pulled pork in Nimble bread and an Alpen light bar
Dinner - Chicken breast stuffed with basil and sundries tomato wrapped in bacon (fat removed) with cauliflower, broccoli and carrots.

Snack - 2 mini baby bell lights and same grapes/strawberries.

20 minute walk around a giant duck lake and a play in the park. Just eating a slice of slimming world chocolate cake that we experimented with making, it's actually ok, no flour or butter and only 1 syn per slice! :)

applecrumple · 04/01/2013 21:22

Ooh recipie for that chocolate cake please tits!

Today:
Porridge for brekkie
Ham sand which for lunch
An apple & a small bit of Mrs Crimble low fat apple cake
Pasta & veg for tea
Hot choc with 2 marshmallows
Shit load of painkillers Grin

No exercise (although I was hoovering when the back went)

Well done everyone!Smile

funchum8am · 04/01/2013 21:44

Waitingforme I am emptying the freezer too - one portion of chili and one of spag bol to go!

funchum8am · 04/01/2013 21:45

Visualise I am deeply envious of your success with GF routine - never worked for us but I would give anything to have it succeed!

Evilwater · 04/01/2013 21:45

Ok
Breakfast- porridge with a sprinkling of Special K.
Lunch- left over pealla,
Supper- pork loin with stir fry veg.

An hours walk for exercise.
Not to mention a very grumpy, baby!

Evil.

INeedThatForkOff · 04/01/2013 21:49

funchum, I have a friend who swore by GF with her DS, but it hasn't worked with her DD. I tend to think you've either got a sleeper or you haven't. Neither of mine sleep well.

GTbaby · 04/01/2013 22:09

I hate being one of those ppl who can answer all ur diet questions. Could write a gym session plan. Help u timetable walks/ runs. Can give advice till I'm blue in the face. But can I follow it. Can I fuck. Very frustrated with myself today.

Started off with a nut mixture breakfast. Cheese sandwich. Then two samosas. Indian sweets. A roti. N I'm now going to go down stairs n have some chocolate. I have had two cups , sry 3 cups of tea. N that's it in terms on drinks.

No veg. No fruit. No water. No exercise.

N now LO is crying. Great.

NappyHappy · 04/01/2013 22:11

VQ, Fat Friday is a day where you are allowed to stuff your face with crap and its obligatory Grin

I'm in Party Town. Say it fast and that's its real name. From Urmston and wish we could afford to live back there.

Toast and coffee
Rustlers meatball sub and half a Chicago Town Sloppy Jo Pizza
Homemade Chicken Curry and 2 naan.
More coffee but green coffee.

Hope you backs OK Apple. Dh has Spinal Stenosis so I can see your pain. Not good.

Exercise for the Moro - toy cull and tidy of ds1's bedroom, tree down, front garden cleared of doggy topics and house bottomed. ds1 is at mothers so I can leave ds2 playing in his room and ds3 flipping about in his cot.

My god I am hardcore.

ds3 keeps bringing up a full feed a day so have to run up and get us both changed, that'll count?

Pushing cars and a days calories in one meal counts too Grin

VisualiseAHorse · 04/01/2013 22:45

funchum - we have worked bloody hard at it though - he has whole weeks where he refuses to nap or sleep during the night. Generally though, sleeps 11-13 hours without waking, and naps well.

I certainly agree with forkoff, it doesn't work for all babies!

Damn, that ice-cream was goooooooooooooood.

Iheartpasties · 04/01/2013 23:00

yuletopian99 I always always used to tense my stomach muscles all the time (pre dc) and sort of gave it up when pregnant with dd1, and have never picked the habit back up! Must try and do it ? although its hard when you have no muscles at all, and a massive gap between them!

vq can I give you a slap on the wrist!?? Stop weighing yourself so often. I?m banning you from weighing yourself until Monday!!!!

TheDetective · 05/01/2013 00:12

I used to do that too with my stomach 'muscles' . Yes. I had them. Once.

funchum8am · 05/01/2013 01:41

visualise I think you are right both about it not working for all babies but also that a really rock solid routine takes work for some babies. I certainly never get up at 7 which seems to be the cornerstone of GF! Not sure whether it would happen for us if we put the work in anyway so I tell myself it wouldn't have Grin. Same seems to go for my weight management plans but that pizza was yum! Grin Grin

CandyPop · 05/01/2013 04:13

Aww gt don't beat yourself up about it. Seems like most of us had a fat Friday anyway :) PLUS u managed breakfast ! That's a plus!!

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 05/01/2013 04:44

Yesterday was better. Breakfast a disaster but ok after that. Plus another walk. Anyone have any ideas of more strenuous activity that can be done with bursitis in the knee? (Apparently common in athletes and fat, middle-aged women. No prizes for guessing which description fits me best!)
Tomorrow Babygoat and I will be sallying forth to the supermarket to stock up on supplies.

GTbaby · 05/01/2013 06:31

Aww thanks candy. Only difference is I've had a fat Monday, Tuesday Wednesday. U get the picture.

Don't think im in the right frame of mind for this ATM. I have a choice. Keep trying even tho I know I'm gona get no where. Or give up. Which is pathetic. Lets keep trying.

Ok. Lets go back to basics. Keep goals simple.
My aim for today is to drink two pints of plain water. And have breakfast within an hour of waking up. Or rather an hour of getting out of bed! That's achievable.
See I know what to do. Just a case of doing it.

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 05/01/2013 09:02

Yellow I live in Wan Chai/Mid Levels- basically just above Queens Road East. Been here over 3 years now.

Today's been ok-ish. Hid the chocolate in a place I definitely will never be arsed to get it from. Went to the gym and did 40 minutes of "walk two-run two" and that wasn't too painful. Also walked around town for an hour with DD in the sling, carrying my shopping. Ate pretty well- bit heavy on the cheese but I did stick to the "water only" rule despite desperately wanting a grande latte with 3 extra shots after DD woke 4 times last night, and DS woke twice. Going out for dinner tonight but having Japanese so no excuses there.

GTbaby · 05/01/2013 12:45

I managed breakfast 15min after my one hour deadline. Not too bad. Now better get sipping on my water. Smile

INeedThatForkOff · 05/01/2013 12:51

Feeling fed up today - I need something to wear for this wedding that's also suitable for BFing and won't make me feel more fat and frumpy than I already do around my uber-slim family. BFing dresses seem to be either maternity/nursing or really casual. Wrap dresses are boring. I also don't want to spend much on something I'm only going to wear once Sad. It's crap because I have a very slim cousin who gave birth a week after me, but she's back to her normal size. I hate feeling like this.
