All new mummies welcome. Any exercise and/or weight loss programme acceptable, so long as it is healthy.

I needed to exchange some babygros and rather than drive, I walked the 2.6 miles there and back. Round trip took me a little over two hours and I'm shattered.

But I like this as a plan and just looked to see how far the coffee shop I often meet a friend at is (2.2 miles). I expect my motivation will be somewhat dependent on the weather though.

crazypaving · 05/01/2013 13:34

candy glad you liked the soup! I swear when I've eaten it that ds2's farts smell of it Grin not sure that's possible...

forkoff good luck finding something. it's such a crap feeling isn't it Sad

I underate again yesterday due to narky children and a general lack of

food in the house. until dh got home and I ate loads of toast, pizza and chocolate pudding Blush argh must do better, I'm just so hungry all the sodding time!!

yuletopian99 · 05/01/2013 13:50

Keep missing breakfast due to ds' erratic sleeping.. Pasta bake for lunch than off to local village centre and back which is an hour round trip walk. Tried on my most forgiving pre-preg trousers and not the same as before but can just about do them.up with squidge Blush. Some way to go on the tummy front still.

ValiumQueen · 05/01/2013 14:22

The hunger that comes with BF is extreme, although sometimes is actually thirst. Either way it is horrid.

NappyHappy · 05/01/2013 14:27

Doing better today. No snacks! scrambled eggs and cheese for b.fast and 2 wraps with tuna, carrot, onion and extra lite mayo. Time to burn calories whilst babies are sleeping!

kirrinIsland · 05/01/2013 15:05

So far so good -
Bran flakes for breakfast, beans on toast for lunch and a coke zero (I know, I know - but 1 step at a time!).

Still no exercise though. I need to do some tummy targeting exercises - plank, weighted hula hoop ( not tried that yet!) - will have to look up some more.....

Just off out for a short walk round the shops with DD2 in a sling, that's got to count for something surely!?

YellowWellies · 05/01/2013 16:08

F*cking Orkney. To say the place doesn't exactly cater well for a 'restricted diet' is an understatement. The only things I could eat at the cafe in town - a bag of prawn crackers and a bag of wine gums. Gee cheers! Today is a write off. I could have so gone for some of the dairy filled sarnies and cakes but it's not worth an evening of ear splitting crying and a baby in agony :(

YellowWellies · 05/01/2013 16:10

Had a healthy brekkie of brown toast and manuka honey (meant to be good for allergies) though. We've done our weekly shop and are cooking a couple of recipes from teh Hairy Dieter cookbook - it's awesome! Coconut prawn curry and chicken and bacon stew... both under 400 calories and using real ingredients not hideous artificial sweetener diet fake food stuffs.

ValiumQueen · 05/01/2013 16:11

YW it won't be for ever. Do little ones grow out of it or will J be dairy intolerant for ever?

OP posts:
YellowWellies · 05/01/2013 16:14

Fingers crossed we should be able to introduce it - my sister and cousins' kids with it have had dairy reintroduced from 8 - 16 months with varying degrees of success.

ValiumQueen · 05/01/2013 16:32

Good news YW and you will not be bfing for ever anyway.

And thank you for the slap pasties I know I should not weigh myself daily, but it is a hard habit to break.

YellowWellies · 05/01/2013 17:10

I know but 8 months seems a looooong time :(

applecrumple · 05/01/2013 17:26

8 months?! I can't go that long without cheese!

TheDetective · 05/01/2013 17:27

YW I was thinking of you during one of the nights I lay awake! I was troughing on jacobs thins and fresh salsa and was going to suggest them as a low calorie snack for you. Til I checked the back of the box. All ingredients seemed fine. Except it exclaimed 'may contain milk'!!!! Raaaah! They aren't made with milk so why may it contain it. Twits!

TheDetective · 05/01/2013 17:28

Oh wait. It was ryvita thins. Sorry jacobs!

YellowWellies · 05/01/2013 17:37

The 'may contain' often means something is made in a factory where powdered milk is turned into an aerosol and used to spray on seasonings (like on crisps) because milk dust is in the air everything may contain milk. It sucks .

8 months without chocolate and a cuppa and cheese on toast and any food with a creamy sauce. Ok am winding myself up now!!! So yeah the diet should be a piece of piss given most nice things are off the menu. Bet I mysteriously balloon!!!! My clothes feel a little baggier but until we're south I'm not really able to get out and about and do some exercise so if I stay the same weight this week I'll be happy.

funchum8am · 05/01/2013 18:10

YW my SIL lives on Sanday. I have never visited but plan to when babyfunch is old enough to enjoy it. Sounds rather basic foodwise though for your diet Sad. Huge sympathy waves....

Sorry to go off topic there .

  1. Failed to start wk 2 of C25k due to having a cold and little sleep and being away from home and forgotten running gear
  2. DH made burgers for lunch. Had mine in a bun AND had oven chips too. And 3 pieces of chocolate.Shock
  3. Had cheese sandwich and crisps and a Penguin biscuit for tea.

However also signed up for buggyfit with goatbongos for weds and am in bed already so won't eat any more!

Tomorrow is a new day and I will have had more sleep!

YellowWellies · 05/01/2013 18:20

I've got some pals on Sanday - Sir Peter Maxwell Davies (Master of the Queens Music) and his partner live there we've had some lovely dinner parties on the island! I was also in the maternity hospital on Kirkwall with a lovely lady from there who was having her 5th baby (all under 5) she's not called Lynette is she? It would be a cracking place to take your wee one - amazing beaches and wildlife!

rich I used to go to life drawing classes in Wanchai! Amazing restaurants nom....

crazypaving · 05/01/2013 18:25

YW aerosoled milk?? the mind boggles

I've eaten nearly a whole pack of jaffa cakes, damnit all to hell. /i have a policy of being allowed one treat a day and figured 2 jaffa cakes should do it. Until the sugar craze hit....damn jaffa cakes of deliciousness Sad

INeedThatForkOff · 05/01/2013 18:33

Right, I'm going to try and put a positive spin on a shitty day. I ordered a couple of things online for this wedding, then managed to pop into town, where I saw them in the flesh but in the wrong sizes. They're no good, so I used the opportunity to try on some other outfits. Oh my God. I can't believe how bulky I actually am. I tried on lots of 16s, and they were all too small, so I've woken up to the fact that I'm currently an 18 (at my comfortable weight I'm a 12).

I felt miserable for a while, but then I decided to look at it as a big fat fact that I have to address, so that's what I'll do.

Got home and DH hasn't started on the tea I'd planned for. Again, I'm choosing not to be too pissed off about it. I'm going to use the opportunity to fill up on carrots, celery and hummus, with a big bowl of cereal. That will claw back a few points from the unhealthier things I've picked at today.

So. Size 18 to size 10. Here we go.

applecrumple · 05/01/2013 18:39

Good on you Ineedthatfork. I'm not really in the zone today, but at least all my snacking has been healthy. Managed to go out for a gentle walk today but all strenuous exercise is out of the question at the moment.

blondiedollface · 05/01/2013 19:50

I have decided after much debate that this is on hold until my birthday (15th Jan) I am not really in the right frame of mind, and have 3 meals out before then.

Shred had been going well but I have had a really bad day with aches and pains and such today and just really didn't want to go there! Have been trying to eat more fruit and veg and less sugar and processed food. Step in the right direction but need to get my birthday out of the way first!

horseylady · 05/01/2013 20:23

Yw - you need local honey for allergies. Don't buy the whole extra anti oxidant stuff. Just get some local honey.

horseylady · 05/01/2013 20:36

Gt - if your not in the right frame of mind, I would leave dieting for a short while. The issue you is , you eat something unhealthy, you think bugger it I'll start tomorrow, and so the cycle starts. Don't punish yourself, either forgive the blip in the day and carry on trying that day, or just leave it for a bit. Mentally it'll not do you any favours and you'll feel even worse about yourself.

I had honey and toast for breakfast, veg risotto for lunch, baked camembert and soda bread for tea! Apple, orange, grapes and some chocolate as snacks. Plus two hour walk. Full of cold too so not feeling the best!!
