Got off to a good start. An hour walk up and down hills in my village. Busy after noon with baby trialling new nap routine then x trainer for 30 mins. Breakfast eggs poached and yogurt. Lunch tuna salad snack almonds. Tea chicken and veg. Pudding porridge. So not bad first day but my legs are so stiff this morning. Will do the walk and swap cardio for weight training hope my legs recover I have squats to do. Ahhhhhhh!

littleredmonkey · 02/01/2013 06:02

Goat. Your soup sounds yummy
And sleep snacks are necessary when they dont.

INeedThatForkOff · 02/01/2013 07:55

Ugh. Awful night with DCs. Must not let tiredness ruin my willpower!

Ordered a ww pedometer during one of the night feeds.

crazypaving · 02/01/2013 08:29

am not doing well. no sleep here as ds2 ill and screaming much of the night. body craving sugar and am disinclined to deny it what it wants when it's suffering so much Grin

made a big batch of spiced lentil soup yesterday in an effort to eat easily and healthily for the rest of the week. and bouncing an inconsolable baby constantly in the sling is pretty good exercise right? Hmm

must not give up...

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 02/01/2013 08:48

Oof, fork and crazy I share your pain...

If that damn tooth would just come through!!! For the sake of my diet, of course Xmas Grin

crazypaving · 02/01/2013 08:56

just watched that bloke on BBC news about the fasting diet. I assume that'd be a bad idea whilst breastfeeding? looks tempting.

applecrumple · 02/01/2013 09:23

Don't do it crazy! Btw my DH did it for a few weeks & said it was quite good, but he hasn't started it again since dd was born - baby + FT job + PT degree course is not good when combined with fasting!

INeedThatForkOff · 02/01/2013 09:26

I'm not doing it while BFing.

Just scooped a bit of DD's Nutella out with my finger. Was about to put it in my gob when I remembered and chucked it. Go me!

Time for baby one's jabs Sad

CandyPop · 02/01/2013 09:48

crazy don't do it! It will affect your milk supply.

Yum lentil soup. Can u sure ur recipe? Someone up thread also mentioned curries parsnip soup ?! Can u have recipe for that too???

Passmethecrisps · 02/01/2013 09:52

I am very impressed fork. Nutella is the food of new mummies kings.

We went a decent walk yesterday. Shame it was punctuated by a visit to a friend where wine and nibbles were imbibed.

Weather is rubbish today so a walk out will need to be timed carefully.

crazypaving · 02/01/2013 10:02

ok will wait til not feeding any more, thanks!

lentil soup - a bit slapdash but basically:

bit of ginger, grated
tsp or so of cumin
a few chili flakes
one onion, chopped
two carrots, chopped
200g or so of red lentils
roughly 1.25 - 1.5l veg stock (I use low salt so ds1 can have it)

fry onions, carrots and spices in a little oil until soft. add lentils and stock, simmer for 15mins, blitz and hey presto! yummy warming filling soup.

CandyPop · 02/01/2013 11:09

I might make it for lunch !!

CandyPop · 02/01/2013 11:26

I want to go out for a walk but can't be bothered to get dressed.... till in my jim jams!!! I have be doing stuff tho inc taking down the Xmas tree!

VisualiseAHorse · 02/01/2013 12:36

Just done my first Shred. Man, am I unfit. Totally out of breath now, but feel heaps better. Now, what to have for lunch....?

Elizadoesdolittle · 02/01/2013 12:54

Hmmm so far my new year diet has been as bad as my Christmas. You are all so good, am seriously impressed. In my defence I did say I would lurk on this thread till I'd had my 6 wk check on 7th jan but still! Need to take DD2 for her weight check and am going to walk instead of drive. It's 30 mins there uphill and will have DD1 on the buggy board so that will be a good workout surely. Keep up the good work everyone Smile

GTbaby · 02/01/2013 13:40

Right. I'm about to have breakfast. Bloody starving. Feel ill. Having a shot day. Need some "on the go" breakfast ideas.

horseylady · 02/01/2013 13:46

Never eat on the go!!

Titsalinabumsquash · 02/01/2013 14:14

I already hate slimming world Blush

Last time I did it I was really motivated and bang on it, I really enjoyed it.
I'm only on day 2 this time and I feel like crap, DS is still exclusively bf so I'm hoping the sudden change won't mess up my milk too much and that the headaches and feeling grotty is the vast amount of sugar/fat withdrawals.

SpanielFace · 02/01/2013 14:25

Right, I've ordered some scales! That might not be much of a start but it's still a start! We've got my Nana's funeral & wake on Friday, which is going to be a difficult day, so I'm not worrying about starting until that is behind me & I've actually found out how much I weigh...eek!

ValiumQueen · 02/01/2013 14:39

tits are you eating enough? Are you having extra for bf? Are you allowing yourself the odd treat?

horsey you are fab! So very right with your attitude and advice.

GT breakfast should be eaten in the morning, preferably before 9am. Nearly 2pm is not good at all!

I am finding my insatiable appetite is levelling and I know this is because of sugar levels. I feel I am making a bit of progress and feeling a bit better already. I do not allow myself to eat at night time feeds. I think that in itself will help. I am trying to listen to my body and eat when I am hungry, and what I fancy to an extent. I am going to bed earlier too as evenings are my worst.

1st pound down....it's going to be slow and steady...

ValiumQueen · 02/01/2013 15:27

Slow and steady is best. 2lb a week is a stone every couple of months. By Js birthday I could be slinky if I only keep slow and steady.

applecrumple · 02/01/2013 15:34

Tits I feel the same as you at the moment with the headaches but mine might be due to not drinking enough water. Been a bit naughty today in that I haven't really had lunch as I was out at lunchtime. Will have a little something in a mo to tide me over to tea time. Everyone seems to be doing well so far! Smile

CandyPop · 02/01/2013 15:46

Ah gt can u not squeeze in a bowl of cereal in the morning ? That being said I know it's hard! I started with some granola at 8.30am then decided as LO was a sleep to do a bit of ironing , tidy the kitchen and then she woke... After feeding and changing I only finished the second half just before 11am!
I use to be a very slow eater... In the last 7 weeks I have learnt to each most meals within 10-15 mins!! Not good!!!

So I did manage to get changed. Walked to waitrose instead of driving.... Unfortunately got caught by the rain but at least it's a little walk! Had sushi for lunch and now made a beef stew with loads if veg for supper :)

littleredmonkey · 02/01/2013 16:04

Nothing beats
Plenty of water
Regular exercise
Good sleep. Haha sorry what a joke at the moment
Low fat diet not starving yourself
And have a treat
