Started SW today. Think I did the diet correctly; not entirely convinced. Anyone else out there doing SW?

Ok so I went tonight to get weighed (changed class so it's now going to be Wednesday, not Thursday.) I've been doing it 6 days and have lost 4.5 lbs. Pleased, but wish I'd waited a week and got 5 lbs! Stupid, really.

The consultant was very good and talked about the importance of speed and super speed food and how it should be 1/3 of each meal. That could get expensive, that's the trouble.

Peony, that sounds great if you can eat meals like that at work. Unfortunately, the healthy eating only allows 3 of the Ryvitas I like (sesame.) It's hardly a boxful! And I like it with butter and cheese or ham but not sure whether cottage cheese will have me racing to get my lunch!

Sleep now, then figure it out tomorrow. This is the first time, though, that I've stuck to my diet for the whole of the day I've got weighed, so I'm really pleased with myself!

Newtothisstuff · 16/08/2012 06:27

I use a really good website www.slimmingeats.com there's some
Amazing recipes on there, pizza is one of my favourites !! The carbonara is nice too

Panadbois · 16/08/2012 08:59

This morning, I 've had half a melon and two cups of tea. I've put some veg in the slow cooker for soup drastic measures because I had a snickers bar and wine last night which will be handy and free for today and tomorrow.

Panadbois · 16/08/2012 09:05

Newto, that website looks good, quite fancy the cheeseburger quiche Smile

ImperialBlether · 16/08/2012 16:34

Just eaten the biggest omelette known to man. It had everything in the house in it. Resisted chocolates at work - felt v virtuous, even though I knew I had wine in my boot.

ILiveInAPineapple · 16/08/2012 18:29

I lost 2st 6lbs, then lots of things came up like birthdays and days out and I went off plan, and put on 8lbs, but yesterday I went back to the diet. So my loss now stands at 1st 12lbs, not quite so good, and I am annoyed at myself for putting on, but I have a new determination.

I need to lose a stone by the time my DH comes home in 5 or 6 weeks, so it gives me a mini target.
I need to lose another 3st 9lbs to get to my target overall.

I don't go to group, I never stayed for image therapy, so it was almost a waste of £5 really!

I need to lose weight as I am waiting for fertility treatment (PCOS) so I really have to do it this time.

Support and kicks up the backside appreciated!

Today I have had: fruit for breakfast (free), milk for HE, butternut squash soup for lunch (free), beef, veg and noodle stir fry for dinner (I used 1/2 tsp of sesame oil so that has been my only syns so far today). Will have a snack of some kind later on once DS is in bed.
I find the summer holidays really hard because I am at home, and could easily graze all day on all the nice things in the cupboard :-(

ImperialBlether · 16/08/2012 19:04

Would you stick to it on your own, without paying the money? You could ask a strict friend to weigh you!

TellyBug · 16/08/2012 20:32

Well done imperial!

I really wanted a pizza and a bottle of red wine for dinner but instead made a healthy Moroccan thing and dinner for tomorrow night, too.

janeswell · 16/08/2012 20:44

Hi can I join you. I have just registered with SW online. I am amazed at all the free food. Can I really eat as many potatoes and pasta as I want and still lose weight?

I am wading through the site and trying to make a menu plan for the week

ILiveInAPineapple · 16/08/2012 21:03

Yeah, I can stick to it without going to be weighed. I lost 3 stone before I had my DS following it at home.
:-)

Newtothisstuff · 16/08/2012 23:38

You should make the pizza off the slimmingeats website Tellybug, it uses your HE and is soooo good

TellyBug · 16/08/2012 23:54

I'll look it up!

ImperialBlether · 17/08/2012 01:01

Jane, yes you can, but try to eat as much super speed food as you can - preferably 1/3 of your meal.

Panadbois · 17/08/2012 08:42

Hi all, any suggestions what I can have tomorrow when we go to Alton Towers? It's a long drive and we'll be stopping at service places for breaks. I now I will feel entitled to a treat.

ImperialBlether · 17/08/2012 11:09

It's difficult, isn't it? To be honest, I think I'd be tempted to say do what you want for that one day but don't have sweets/pudding, chips, crisps or alcohol. If you take those out of the equation, you should be OK.

TellyBug · 17/08/2012 13:23

Have a break for a day Panad? I think the occasional day off isn't that bad. After all, isn't that what thin people do? I would go for the healthiest options, and perhaps go into the day knowing you will allow yourself a treat or two- so a glass of wine or a sweet treat.

And then don't worry about it. Get back on the plan the next day. The longer you go without a break I think the more likely you are to binge!

Panadbois · 17/08/2012 15:13
Smile

I'm taking a chicken salad for lunch and might have a treat at tea time then. Or leave it until I get a glass or three of wine when we get home.

peonypeony · 20/08/2012 10:53

Well, weighed myself this morning and have lost another 3 and a half pounds! I'm eating a fair bit of food too! I LOVE this diet! Not only am I losing weight, but I feel in control! My daughter proudly made a cake yesterday. I had a small slice and counted it as 6 syns. I've lost 10 and a half pounds in two weeks (I know, early days!) and I am definitely eating more healthily than I have in ages. Hardly have any fat and sugar now and am enjoying looking for alternative ways to have food eg FryLight, low fat, low sugar, using more fruit, salad etc. Mind you, I am very heavy and am sure the weightloss will slow down soon. I have to be on this diet for about a year, I reckon, so am sure I will hit a wall soon! How's it going for everyone else?

ILiveInAPineapple · 20/08/2012 11:41

Still going good for me, going to get weighed at group tomorrow, as I am going back to work in two weeks so I need to make sure I stay on track as my colleagues all buy lots of biscuits and cakes!
I had crisps last night which were ok but I have decided that I didnt enjoy them as much as I thought I would so I'm not buying them again! I know that they are ok if you syn them but they just weren't worth it!
Having syn free chilli tonight, which is soooooo tasty, can't wait to eat it Smile
Not sure what is for lunch but I had fruit for breakfast.

Panadbois · 20/08/2012 13:18

Peony that' s great! I'm two weeks in and maintained this week, so only 3.5 lb off. A bit disappointed if I'm honest even though I've had a lot of syns.

I'm not giving up though, and will try harder this week though DS want to go for an Indian buffet for his birthday treat on Wednesday

peonypeony · 20/08/2012 23:05

Iliveinapineapple, I know what you mean about having something to eat and then deciding that they weren't worth it. I've only been doing this two weeks but imagine I will be looking around for a worthwhile syn soon.
Panadbois, I would love a curry and would definitely find a buffet indian very hard to handle. Food has become such a crutch for me over the last 20 years that I am having to learn how to handle it and make the right choices. I would love to do more things with my children. They want to go swimming with me, my oldest wants me to get a bike and take her out on the roads, I want to swim and run, get fit and generally have goals that are worthwhile.I find the syns thing hard to manage. Am allowing myself up to 10 syns daily but in reality I seem to have 5. Am sure I lose more though when I consume more ..............

OP posts:
ILiveInAPineapple · 21/08/2012 07:54

I look at syns as an average over the week. Most days I have less than 7, but on weekends I have a treat like wine or a takeaway so it evens out.
Tbh I am finding myself snacking on fruit more so I haven't wanted to use up my syns every day. They say 5-15 syns, so if you are getting that many over the week then it should be okay.

Going to get weighed this morning. I will be going on Thursday evenings once I am back at work in two weeks but I want to rejoin so I can stay focused when I start back at work and am surrounded by cakes, biscuits and donuts!

ILiveInAPineapple · 21/08/2012 07:56

peony what you said about riding a bike etc, that is exactly how I feel. My DS is almost 5, and part of the reason I need to lose weight is that we are ttc and I have PCOS so I know that is not helping, but also because I want to be able to run about, ride a bike etc with my DS, and I don't want him to grow up and then I've missed out on all these fun things because of my weight Sad
We just have to keep that in mind when we are tempted I guess!

Panadbois · 22/08/2012 07:27

I haven't been so good this week Blush

DD made flapjacks yesterday, and DH made some nachoes last night served with cheese, salsa, sour cream and wine. I have no will power.

Today I'm feeling under the weather, serves me right. So today, I'm gonna stick to mullerlight and fruit all day, then go for this Indian buffet tonight, and fill my plate with rice and a small spoon of korma.

Is there any hope for me?

burstingbuble · 22/08/2012 10:50
