Started SW today. Think I did the diet correctly; not entirely convinced. Anyone else out there doing SW?

Couple of weeks, about 10 pounds, a lot of which is water weight I think. My plan is to be syn-free Mon to Thurs and relax a little at the weekend and a glass of wine on Fridays Smile

ImperialBlether · 14/08/2012 00:03

Telly, who cares if it's water! Better off than on, whatever it is!

10lbs is a fantastic loss. I hope I do the same.

TellyBug · 14/08/2012 00:04

Good luck!!

I kind of stick to a weekly lunch plan too which normally ends up as:

Monday - homemade felafel and couscous salad
Tuesday - Tuna. pasta, sweetcorn and light mayo with green salad
Wednesay - ham slices stuffed with cottage cheese and rolled up, new potato salad, pickles
Thursday - Syn free chicken tikka and a rice salad
Friday - Tuna Nicoise.

I try to make something nice, as if I end up being bored with it, or making unappetizing lunches then I'll end up buying something that's going to be full of syns.

In the evening my DH has been making yummy curries from the Slimming World Curry Cookbook, or downloading some of the risotto recipes. I find a good portion of rice in the evening fills me substantially as otherwise there is this hour before bed when I'm hunting through the cupboards like an angry wasp, and that's the danger time!

Gottalovecosta · 14/08/2012 19:01

Hiya, I'm on my 2nd week of SW. Have to admit I'm a little disappointed. I lost 1lb, despite doing 30 day shred and other exercise this week.

Have eaten to plan every day. I used to do WW and never lost as little as 1lb, even on a bad week. I'm on green days as I'm a vegetarian, is the best idea to not really eat much potatoes etc, I'm worried as the diet does allow a fair amount of carbs and it doesn't seem to be working for me.

ImperialBlether · 14/08/2012 20:54

Another day over with! No syns yet, so I'll be looking around to see what's around.

nannycook · 14/08/2012 21:27

Gottalovecosta, yep its abit disheartning when you hear other mn's losing so much more, like you i'm on my 2nd week after losing 2lbs, i'm eating really well though, planning is the key for me as i work fulltime, however i did make that frittater which is so nice and i throw just about everything in there, do give up, be consistant, you'll get there as i will, hopefully!

TellyBug · 14/08/2012 22:06

Recipe: mix ginger, garlic and loads of soy sauce. Chuck in some skinless salmon, in chunks. Marinade. Drain the salmon (saving the 'sauce') and stir fry it. Once cooked, put the salmon back in the sauce and pour on lime juice and mix. Serve over noodles and stir fry veg.

Like salmon teriyaki but zero syns.

peonypeony · 14/08/2012 22:55

I've had a strange day food wise. Didn't have breakfast (not intentional but overslept!) and had a wholemeal bap with chicken and salad in for lunch (once again, not planned but late for work!), veg soup whilst the kids had their tea and then just polished off a 2 egg omelette with loads of ham and tomatoes, and a teaspoon of ketchup. Now going to have a hot chocolate - must be good and remember to use up my 'healthy a' Grin

OP posts:
ImperialBlether · 14/08/2012 23:08

Today I had bacon, beans and a slice of wholemeal toast for breakfast, then shepherd's pie for dinner. Should have eaten more fruit though!

peonypeony · 14/08/2012 23:25

That doesn't sound like much food ImperialBlether? I meant to eat loads of fruit today but forgot that I was due to go into work and everthing just went 'wrong' today! Will make an effort with fruit tomorrow; kitchen smells delightfully of melon but am sure it means that the melons need eating now!

May I join in? I started SW 4 weeks ago and have lost 10.5 pounds so far. I'm worried that I may lose my focus soon - I'm good at losing up to a stone but then getting too confident and losing the plot. I really want to stay on the plan this time and lose a total of 4 stones.

ImperialBlether · 15/08/2012 00:16

You didn't see the shepherd's pie, peony! And there were 4 rashers of bacon and a tin of beans - I can't eat it without some bread but didn't want to have to use syns so I had one slice.

I didn't get up until 10, had breakfast at about 11 and then dinner at about 7. That's okay isn't it? I never eat three meals a day unless I'm working.

Same here, bushy. I'm determined to stick at it this time.

peonypeony · 15/08/2012 11:42

It sounds fine Imp, I would love to eat shepherd's pie but haven't quite got the courage up yet to 'cook' anything that I can eat, IYSWIM. I tend to have ham, salad, eggs, fruit, ryevita, salmon etc. I've made soup and am enjoying that so hope I will eat more recipies I've made soon. I'm a teacher, so off work 'proper' for another three weeks although I went in yesterday to make a start, so have the dilemma of school dinners in three weeks!

Well done bushy, 10.5 pounds is brilliant! Don't lose your focus; come on we'll all do this together. We can all give each other support and tips. I've got a lot of weight to lose but am just trying for 7lbs at a time and not looking at the bigger picture, or I am sure I would feel overwhelmed and throw the towel in. I know if I don't do something now then I will give up completely and that is not an option. Grin

I am really struggling not to pick at the biscuits I have in for the children. I did them ham & cheese toasties yesterday lunchtime and it took every inch of my (very small) willpower not to have one. I quickly stuck a jacket potato in the oven!

peonypeony · 15/08/2012 11:49

But you did it slightly! Haven't eaten anything yet today and could murder a ham and cheese toastie right now! I know what you mean about the biscuits, my hard time is when everyone is in bed and I'm still up and those chocolate biscuits are screaming my name! I've only been doing this for ten days though so haven't cracked yet.........................

OP posts:
ImperialBlether · 15/08/2012 12:02

Well I've just had bacon and cheese toastie! Or sort of. I put a slice of wholemeal bread with some cheese (Healthy Choices both gone now) on and added about 1.5 sliced tomatoes. Put it under the grill alongside some bacon. Easy peasy and yes, I would have liked another slice, but it was enough really.

OP, you're a teacher? So am I, though another three weeks sounds lovely - I'm in tomorrow for A level results, then we're all back in from Monday. It's a sixth form college.

Why are you nervous about cooking? I made a shepherd's pie with all free food and it wasn't any different to how I normally make it. It was so nice being able to eat as much as I wanted. Thinking of making big batches to freeze so that when I come home from work I can just bung it in the oven.

I'm trying to think of food for work, too. I've been making those pastry-free quiches - have you had those? They're okay and I could certainly take them to work. Thinking of doing a tortilla though because I think the potatoes will keep me full. Salads are too cold for me at lunchtime in the winter and we have no way of heating up food we've brought in. Let me know if you come up with any good ideas.

Panadbois · 15/08/2012 18:37

How about a flask of soup??

kidscatanddogs · 15/08/2012 21:28

Hello all. First weigh in and have lost 4.5lbs! Well chuffed but expecting next week to be a smaller loss. First week is usually the Best for me. have not felt hungry. Actually felt quite bloated at times but filling up on good stuff kept my fingers out of the biscuit tin! Some great losses on here let's keep at it - I keep visualising how great it feels when clothes get too big to wear and am holding that thought. I love trying new recipes and will def try the Ginger soy sauce one this week.

nannycook · 15/08/2012 22:28

Well done Kids, how come my first week i only lost 2lbs? will battle on though, its only my 2nd week, did just make some leek and potato soup, keep going in the kitchen for a slurp.

peonypeony · 15/08/2012 22:54

Made a lovely and very low syn supper tonight.

10 sprays of frylo in a frying pan. Add a salmon steak. Add frozen peas and cold boiled potatoes. Cook with a tablespoon of low fat fromage frais (though as I eat it I'm not sure this was needed really) with the lid on for 10 mins. Delicious and hardly any washing up! All free on easy - I think! Smile

Imperial I have to eat with the children I teach and the meals at my school are realllllllly good! I'm going to have to have loads of salad and boiled eggs/ham and fruit as that is always on offer! How about a lunchbox full of ryevita/low fat cheese and salad/fruit and as Panadbois said, a flask of free soup?

Going to have a hot chocolate now. This has become a bit of a daily habit lately! Use my healthy a to make a not chocolate with a teaspoon of drinking chocolate powder (3.5 syns). Seems to be keeping the chocolate munchies at bay Smile
