What would you class as your ideal weight? Do you use BMI or go off your clothes size?

5'9", 13 stone, size 16 atm. Starting Weightwatchers tomorrow!!

birdofthenorth · 08/06/2012 14:07

PS reckon my ideal weight is 11 stone. At 10 stone or less I lack shape. Over 11.5 stone I look lardy. Currently I look nearly obese!

GitAwfMayLend · 08/06/2012 14:07

I am rather similar to the OP in measurements - 34C, 26 waist, 37 hips. 6 foot and weight just over 10 stone. I went up to 12 stone 3 just before Christmas (steroids) and looked overweight for me, I have a slight build really.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 08/06/2012 14:07

I'm 5' 9'-10" and have weighed (with no discernible differences in diet, exercise, lifestyle etc, so feck knows why the fluctuations) up to 10 and a half stone and down to 8 and a half. I felt fine at all these weights but for the past couple of years have been about 9 stone and a few pounds (it varies) and feel very happy and quite fit and healthy.

Tigresswoods · 08/06/2012 14:08

10stone

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 08/06/2012 14:15

Oh, forgot to say, if we're doing measurements, I have teeny tiny norks (34A/B) and narrow ribcage, small waist (26") but big hips (40" or so). Lanky long legs (34") and arms. Am generally a size 6-8 at the mid/upper end of the high street (Reiss, Whistles etc), 8-10 in lower end (To' Sho', H&M).

Lanky pear-shape, basically.

ceebeegeebies · 08/06/2012 14:39

Pre-pregnancy, I hovered around the 11/11.5 stone mark and was just a size 10 top/12 bottom (would need size 14s in some trousers) - after 2 DS, I found myself pushing 16 stone and was a definite size 18 so 5 stone = 3 size difference.

I lost weight and got to 12 and a half stone (so close to my ideal weight...grrr) and could fit comfortably into size 14 trousers - then, as always happens, the weight went back on and I am now just under 14 stone and a size 14 top/16 bottom.

As another poster said, my skeleton would struggle to get into a size 10 - I have a big build.

Chubfuddler · 08/06/2012 16:03

Oh if we're doing measurements I'm 36-29-43. I am very pear shaped. I've lost five inches from my hips since starting SW four months ago though.

deva87 · 08/06/2012 18:32

Just been to the gym and they basically told me off for trying to lose any more weight because it just won't happen. Something about my body fat percentage being perfect and my waist to hip ratio being dangerously low.

All I wanna do is shift the wobble of these pesky thighs! I have a firm opinion that if you have long legs (mine are 34") that they should be slim so that you can flash them!

noddyholder · 08/06/2012 19:18

You would need to be 9ft tall to be size 6/10 at 12stone!

ladyinthelibrary · 08/06/2012 19:22

5'9" and 12 stone. BMI is ok, can't remember what nurse said it was last week. Would like to lose a stone, but menopausal now, and the weight just doesn't shift the same. Even after 3 kids I never had a belly until I hit 41. Size 14 jeans, sometimes 16, depends what shop, and 16 in tops (38DD)

caerlaverock · 08/06/2012 19:23

Arf @ noddy. I agree.

Enragia · 08/06/2012 19:30

How can you be a size 8 with fat thighs.

Youre making this up

Enragia · 08/06/2012 19:32

Size 6 waist with mammoth thighs ?
Can you even stand up?

RedHotPokers · 08/06/2012 19:40

Don't know how you are the clothes size you are at your height/weight OP.

I am 5'11", 12 stone 3 pounds, size 14 top, size 16 bottoms. Have just lost half a stone (YAY!) which has brought me to a comfortable size 14/16 rather than a squashed one! I would be happy to be 11 stone. At 21yo I weighed less than 10 stone so I know its doable (am quite a lanky frame), but 11st is more realistic.

PetitRat · 08/06/2012 19:51

5'9" 13 stone, 14 top and 12/14 bottom. Aiming for 11.5 stone. Monster boobs (34 gg), big, fat tummy but long, lean legs. Look a bit like an inverted Dairylea triangle - oh well, you can't have it all!

EmmaCate · 08/06/2012 19:55

I am 5' 10" and I'd settle for 12 stone. At my lowest I was 9 and three quarters and I was thin, thin, thin. I am now a chunky 14 stone... how depressing. I started last pregnancy at 13 stone - the last stone is always the hardest to lose and I have to squeeze out one more!

deva87 · 08/06/2012 19:56

_ What I define as mammoth/fat thighs and you may be completely different lol. I just have a serious issue with mine, don't ask me why I just do.

Every person is different. If I didn't have a physio controlled exercise routine plus Pilates 3x a week I probably wouldn't be the shape I am I admit. But I'd much rather weigh heavy than have to deal with what comes if I don't do it!

I'm 5'10, 11 stone 7 and aiming for 11stone. I'm a size 12 but in some fabrics and shops I need a 14 on top due to being large of nork

You are a goddess cyb

used2bthin · 08/06/2012 20:53

Currently 13 stone + as am pregnant. Before this and since the birth of DC1 I have gone between 10 and a half and 11 and a half stone and depending on this have been between a 12 and 14. Pre DC I was under 10 stone and a size 10, smaller on top but my hips could never go lower than a 10-12.

I feel best at ten stone, 10 and a half max.

My friend who is an inch taller at most weighs 11 and a half stone though and is a size ten maximum and not an ounce of fat she is just more muscular build I think. At 11 and a half I am a large 14.

I'm 5 9 and about 9 and a half stone, which looks about right on me. Was quite ill with stomach problems 2 years ago and went down to 8 4, looked absolutely horrendous and have only just got up to my normal weight again (I know, it's not the worst problem in the world!). Feel like I look like myself again now.

Am a size 10 as 8s don't fit round waist or over shoulders. All my height is in my torso - my legs are only 30 inches!
