Sparkling new thread Grin

Firstly, the Golden Rules

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONCIOUSLY
  4. STOP when you are satisfied

Here is the book on Amazon which is all you need to get started!

This is the tapping technique explained - this can be useful for cravings.

Emergency! Emergency! Throw it away!!!! Or hide it! Or better still ask someone else to! Or slow down and eat it mindfully. From a PLATE.

I think that when you had your cheese sarnie earlier you really wanted chocolate so you retained the hunger for the choc in the back of your mind if you catch my drift. I know that I do this.

SilveryMoon · 10/05/2011 20:53

I think you're right nora I should have phoned dp and asked him to bring a small one back, not sent him a couple of hours later to get a big one.

Tomorrow is another day. there's no way anyone could do this perfectly straight off. We only learn by mistakes I suppose.

Plus, I came on my period yesterday so that might be where the chocolate need has come from

SilveryMoon · 10/05/2011 20:58

I'm watching supersize vs superskinny which is always a mistake. Always make me think about food and my attitude to food always matches that of the supersizer.
I don't think of myself as huge. I am 5 foot 10 and am just over 16st, but I do look fatter in the mirror than in my head. In my head I am quite attractive, in the mirror, I am a bit of a disgrace!!
I'll get there. Each time I successfully tell myself that I am not hungry and I don't eat is a step in the right direction, so even though I have had this little off moment, it's not the end of the world and I have still done well.

shrinkingnora · 10/05/2011 21:10

I like the fact that this is made up of little steps towards everything being better.

SilveryMoon · 10/05/2011 21:21

Ye, me too. I've been reading bits of the book and am pleased to read all the honest stuff in there.
I like that he phrases it "fat people" and I like that he says you will fuck up, but the whole point of doing this and not a diet is that we aren't going to worry about it or beat ourselves up

ladywhiteadder · 10/05/2011 21:33

Fantastic news on weight loss solo and glad everyone is tightening up!

Exercise wise I'm doing the couch to 5k running programme as I used to be a really keen runner pre-DCs and want to get back to that. I think if I could pull myself together and do the shred too I'll be mega hot for hols in 7 weeks! [Tongue firmly in cheek emoticon!]

My 1st day back at work was brilliant! I missed the little ones but enjoyed doing my own thing and DD loved taking DS to nursery. He had a great day. Despite my worries I didn't get that hungry and was able to keep control of myself. And as a gratuitous advert the tone up trainers were great! I'm not sure my bum has shrunk in one day but my feet don't knack!

JuicyOlive · 10/05/2011 22:38

Just wondering where Cheerful Yank has gone.

If you're out there CY, hope you're OK...

GreenToes · 10/05/2011 22:46

ladywhiteadder I'm doing Couch to 5k too, I'll be doing week 2 run 2 tomorrow. I've never been a runner before really but enjoying it so far :)

It's good to hear everyone is getting on so well with the Pauling as well, very inspirational :)

SoloIsAHotCougar · 11/05/2011 00:01

Thanks everyone Grin I'm sooo pleased!
I received a £70 cheque through the post (cashback on road vehicle isurance) and guess what/whom I've spent it on?! I've bloody well gone and spent it on me and on Skecher's Shape Ups!!! bloody fab! just hope they arrive through the post quickly!!!

ladywhiteadder · 11/05/2011 00:07

Skechers shape ups are the ones I went for, very comfy. Enjoy!

Niecie · 11/05/2011 00:11

Whoo hoo! Nice one, Solo.

Pretty soon you'll need some more windfalls for a whole new wardrobe of clothes!! Grin

Battling the chocolate demons here, not helped by the fact that I am inexplicably hungry. I should go to bed but I haven't made the boys's lunches yet. There will be temptations.

SoloIsAHotCougar · 11/05/2011 00:11

Thanks! hope they do the job too. The nurse that weighs me wears them and has been a bit 'not sure about them', but today she has said that she's noticed her calves are all toned and she let me feel her bum!!! and it was definitely lifted nd firm. This is a lady in her 50's. So that's what made me decide to spend so much on myself!

SoloIsAHotCougar · 11/05/2011 00:15

Niecie, you must be nearing Aunty Flo time though (because I should be and we are close) so you will have those blooming demons pinching your cheeks and waving chocolate under your nose! keep calm and carry on!

I'll be happy enough to just get into my old wardrobe of clothes tbh :)

SoloIsAHotCougar · 11/05/2011 00:15

Right, I'm off! night all.

PositiveAttitude · 11/05/2011 06:29

What a vision for first thing in the morning Solo, You feeling a nurses bum!!!! Grin

Yesterday I once again ended up eating at odd times. I ate at about 3, then was not hungry until 9. I was dead chuffed though as I had what is one of my favourites, but normally banned. Cheese and biscuits. But that was my main meal yesterday, weird! Hmm
I must admit, I am sort of losing confidence in this. I dont feel as if it is working. No evidence, I havent weighed, I dont know......

MintCakeMavis · 11/05/2011 06:45

OK so starting this way of eating / living just before a weekend at PILs (with no control over what and when I ate) followed by 3 days camping (eating snacks only) wasn't the smartest but I'm home and it's time to focus back and start again!

Good to hear from everyone still. V inspirational.

SilveryMoon · 11/05/2011 07:14

Morning.
Just checking in for the morning.
Another good night for me, no midnight snacking Grin

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 11/05/2011 07:44

PA - If you are following the rules 100%, then it will definitely work. How long til you weigh yourself? I waited a month, then I felt i needed to see some evidence (even though my jeans were falling down!!) so weighed myself.

I seem to be eating a lot more than some of you guys, I cant go more than 3 hours before getting quite hungry! I am eating 3 small meals plus about 2/3 snacks a day. I am loving avocados just now! I ate half a square of chocolate last night, and I hated it! I had to spt it out! It was decent Fairtrade stuff as well, it just my tastes. I hate dthe feeling of it melting in my mouth, all cloying :( So no more choc for me!

Morning all Smile.

I have to wait in today for a delivery so just planning fun stuff to do for me today plus I need to bake something for the kids tea as they ate all the blueberry pie last night except for a small piece each for DH and I.

Just had a satsuma and looking forward to another one later. It feels so much nicer in my mouth when I have had fruit than chocolate Shock.

ppeatfruit · 11/05/2011 09:09

Hi Folks! DottyDot recipe for sesame biscs. please!! and drink water not coffee or squash IMO they confuse the hunger signals anyone else agree? 'cos interestingly P.M. doesn't mention them.

ppeatfruit · 11/05/2011 09:13

D.H. is another who needs to do this but thinks a cup of coffee with honey and cream is a good breakfast! he's always been on and off diets so MUCH bigger than me, evidence IMO that coffee is not helpful

ppeatfruit · 11/05/2011 09:19

Also niecie is soooo right about hunger don't go too long it 's bad for yr blood sugar level and affects mood etc. onesandwich if you're doing it right it'll happen eventually!

SoloIsAHotCougar · 11/05/2011 10:52

PA, don't give up. I kept on giving up, but something clicked and I'm now seeing results...I haven't listened to the cd's in ages either and I've lost my way several times by eating too much ~ going beyond full even though I do recognise it now. I've eaten chocolate and cake and crisps (which is really unusual for me) and donuts!
DON'T GIVE UP, it'll be fine and you will see results; have faith!

PositiveAttitude · 11/05/2011 11:24

Thank you Solo and howto. I think I expect way too much!! I just expect to see instant results, but I know it has taken me years to get to this, so I suppose it will take me ages to get it off too. No, I wont give up! Also, I think I am struggling mentally with me thinking I am trying to lose weight, but being able to eat things like cheese and biscuits etc. It is so ingrained in me that if I am trying to lose weight I shouldnt eat that! I Know!! I know!!! thats what Paul is all about, but I just had a wobble of conscience/guilt/messed-up-ed-ness!!!!
Really fancying an egg sandwich for lunch, so will wait for the hunger then enjoy, guilt free!

SoloIsAHotCougar · 11/05/2011 11:43

Good girl! Grin keep going, you will see results :)
