Blondes glad he's home and you having balls and rice Smile

Both of you must be very exhausted.

Bebe glad you are OK. Did you wi this week?

I quite like weighing in every 2 weeks! I would be perfectly happy with losing 1lb every fortnight so long as it's consistent.

smokinaces · 19/02/2011 21:32

I've been naughty Grin went out to dinner with my mum, stepdad, sister and stepbrother. Had a fairly good main (chicken fajita salad, if you ignore the guacamole and sour cream Wink ) but then had ice cream with fudge and smarties. Was worth it though, really enjoyed myself and know I can get back on it tomorrow!

Blondes, really really hope your DH is over all this now.

and Trimmer - there's something to be said for weigh ins less often. Thats why they advise that babies are weighed no more than fortnightly to monthly now.

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/02/2011 08:23

trimmer weigh every 2 weeks if it motivates you more

smokin sounds a yummy feast :) and you deserve a bit of time off

balls and duck rice was yummy

and was in bed fast asleep before 9.30 - earliest i have ever been in bed on a saturday night

also meant i was wide awake at 5.30 Grin

so been watching tv on lappy catching up with things that i had on sky+ but lost- cant rem if i said that sky went wrong fri ? :(

lost whole planner and now wont record so sky man coming wed (earliest) grrrrrrrrr

so this week has been veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery expensive

£180 dental treatment for me, tho that includes root canal/7 fillings and a shiney gold crown Grin

£2300 on new van (but least means dh can work to pay for it)

£65 sky

'blondes looks at empty purse ' :(

RatherBeOnThePiste · 20/02/2011 08:35

Smokin - going out for a family dinner is a good thing! Just balance it out over the week.

Ran nearly 5 K last night. My little legs are a bit weary this morning.

The Blonde Family is not have a good run of things at the mo. Hope it changes for the better soon if not now

GT - I never commented on your internship thread. I think they should pay her travelling certainly. In competitive jobs like fashion, internships give valuable experience, but they are open to abuse by companies because they are so competitively fought over. If your neice gives it up, someone else will gladly take it on.

But I bet she is contributing to the financial success of the company in some way and that's why she needs some contribution. Travel would be a good one.

Having said this, we take students on PGCE/education courses, kids on Year 10 work experience and don't give them anything financially except support and mentorship and hopefully a good quality experience and reference at the end.

But it is still who you know and connections that give our kids a leg up, Plus having funds to do this. If your neice wasn't being funded in terms of living expenses, travel, food allowance, clothing etc, she wouldn't be able to contemplate this internship.

GettinTrimmer · 20/02/2011 11:12

Morning all Smile

Thanks for your comments Piste re niece, she is a clever cookie graduated in textile design, hopefully it will all pay off for her, the way things are just have to go with it.

Better start saving now for when/if they're at uni and starting out....I'll have to go back and read the thread I think someone said there are moves to try and get interns entitled to something, some careers are only for young people with mums and dads who can help out...

blondes bloody vans, as you say at least dh can get back to work. Hope you don't need any more dental treatment for a long time.

I may wi every fortnight, I have to keep changing what I do to be motivated.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 20/02/2011 17:26

DD on school ski trip ( feels like she is very far away and I no likey ) DS going on sleepover, so me and DH for the first time in nearly 14 years are home alone tonight!

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/02/2011 17:50

so all romantic tonight eh piste?

fnar fnar

smokinaces · 20/02/2011 18:59

evening. popping on quick before my "last chance workout" as weigh in is in the morning. bit close to last nights blow out, but hey ho!

I sorted through my clothes tonight. All my bigger 14s & 16s are in a bag behind the wardrobe - only got 12s and teeny 14s left in my wardrobe. Its costing me a fortune in clothes! Grin But now dont knwo what to do with the stuff thats too big. Do I chuck it out or keep it in the loft? Scared to get rid of it, but really dont want to put the weight back on. mmmmmmm.

give to charity shop or ebay it

if you have the larger sizes you will be wearing them again as soon as current ones get a bit tight

if tight and no bigger ones you have to diet

smokinaces · 20/02/2011 20:38

thanks girls. sad to see some of the items go as they are really lovely - and some of the 14s hardly got any wear! But I have the lovely size 12s now, and will dump this stuff all in a charity bin! It means no going back!!

bebejones · 21/02/2011 11:40

Hello all! Goodness me you lot can talk!!

I have read but can't remember who said what! Blush

Congrats on losses, commiserations on gains!

Pretty - big hugs for you!

Blondes - Poor Dh, hope he is better soon. What a bummer of a week alround for you...and an expensive one too!

I have sts...again! But then, I wasn't really trying! Need to get my backside in gear!

Have been potty training DD since last weds. Not going too badly! She's been in knickers all the time (except at night) and we had a completely dry & clean day Friday...accidents over the weekend, all on DHs watch I might add! Think it's sinking in...slowly! I am shattered though, mentally draining! And I sound like a stuck record!

No other news! Except I fear PT (or TT as she won't use a P!) is very bad for the diet, as we have been doing lots of baking to keep DD entertained at home! Oh & when she gets a treat she inisists I have one too! Blush Wink

smokinaces · 21/02/2011 17:40

Yippee, 1lb off!! Means I am now at 30lb loss and have less than 20lb to lose - am mega chuffed! Especially as had meal out Saturday - the cross trainer is helping!

B) Wooooohooooooo Smokin. You go girl!!

smokinaces · 21/02/2011 17:58

bebe, staying the same whilst home baking is good!!

bebejones · 21/02/2011 18:26

I have eaten far too much flapjack today, and made soda bread which I have been nibbling at! I blame AF....looming! Feeling mega full and bloated, but lovely DH came home from work & without promting said (and I quote) 'You're looking super skinny today!' :o

I 'heart' him! :o

Well done smokin!

prettyfly1 · 21/02/2011 19:52

Hiya - I wont and wooohoooo. I llloooovvvee eating food that is bad for me and crap is my middle name (actually its anne but crap is probably more appropriate !!). The other pretty is doing wayyyy better then me so I doubt there will be much confusing going on.

Is everyone following set diets or just trying to be better behaved??

smokinaces · 21/02/2011 20:53

Blondes is doing PP on weightwatchers, Piste is doing healthy eating with lots of running, I'm doing healthy eating based upon slimming world principles with a home step machine and cross trainer.

I dont know what the other girls are doing to be sure (think Trimmer is WW, Bebe and Pretty healthy eating??) - does that show which one of us talks the most Blush

smokinaces · 21/02/2011 20:54

My name is Smokin and I am a chatterbox

prettybird · 22/02/2011 12:59

Hi prettyfly1 and welcome. Unfortunately for you though, I already have claim to the lovely "short" version of my posting name "Pretty" (on every other Mumsnet thread, it gets shortened to PB). Grin

Your goals are very similar to mine - I have now managed to struggle down to under 12 stone (refused to weigh-in last week due to having to cope with my FIL's funeral) through calorie counting (using FoodFocus) and trying to up my protein and reduce (but not cut out) my carbohydrates - plus exercise (30 Day Shred plus have just started running again). Only 2 stone to go! Hmm

You'll find we all like food on this board - we often digress into discussions on nice meals we have had/are going to have and sharing recipes. The trick is trying to get a balance:)

Lol Smokin!
Welcome Prettyfly

Pretty - is your DS on half term? We are but DD is on the school ski trip so it's feeling a bit weird. Talked to DS about us going without her but he is so much better than me, that he would have had to go into skischool on his own. I honestly cannot keep up! Anyway he didn't want to so we are looking forward to next year.

Am running later. Wish me luck!

prettybird · 22/02/2011 15:47

Piste: we don't get Half Term in Scotland. Instead, we get an extra long weekend in February: Friday, Monday and Tuesday off, Inset day on Wednesday, which is normally when we go skiing (the school is OK about the couple of days we have to take him out of school). However, that was last week - and this year, we couldn't go away 'cos of dh's dad :( (Bummer, especially as for once it was in advacne of the English half term). (..... but the school has already said they don't mind us taking him out some time in March instead :)) Ds missed school on Thursday to go to the funeral but was in on Friday.

However: we are having a "child free" week as ds has gone off to an Outward Bound Centre for the week Grin (normally a P7 trip, but there were free places, so some of the P6s got to go as well). It does seem great strange to have the house to ourselves and we are enjoying the freedom Wink

Blush Have been to pizza hut and had the lunchtime buffet. I always find half term etc tricky. Tomorrow I will pull myself together and stick to 29 points, it tends to work when I post what I've planned to eat.

Welcome prettyfly Smile

Smokin well done on your 1lb! Do you manage to get half term off? I know yours are still pre-school/nursery.

It's not me who chats either piste Brew
