This is a shiney new thread for everyone who has the new years resolution of losing weight. I am going to post my vitaks and my plan and hopefully someone will join me. It doesn;t matter if you have a different plan or a different amount to lose we can all ust support each other.

My Mum died in 2010 (April) of a heart condition, she would have been a lot better off if she has lost some weight and looked after herself a bit more, my sister now has a heart issue and i really don't want to go down that route! So here i am the most serious i have ever been about losing weight.

I have stuck up some pictures of me 'now' around my mirror (looking like a whale) and a picture of my Mum and my kids.

I have weighed myself and measured all my bits and bobs.

They are as follows.

Height - 5ft 1
Weight - 11st 5lbs
Waist - 36inch
Hips - 39inch
Thigh - 23 inch
Arm - 12 inch
Chest - 40 inch
Bum - 40 inch

Personally im just trying to cut back on all the junk I know I eat, I have told DP that 'takeout Tuesday' is no more.

I have signed up for dance classes and will start walking where i can rather than using the car.
I am going to get the weight loss game for the Xbox Kinnect.
Make swaps of Tea instead of Lattes.

Im going to drink more Water and move more.

Im giving myself a small target at first of 5lbs and then will move it when i get there.

I am giving myself a month if I am not progressing I am going back to Slimming World.

So there you have it.... anyone fancy coming along for the ride? Smile

Yes please!

Like you I feel I really have to do something about my weight - my Dad has type 2 diabetes & my Mum has cancer - so am feeling quite vulnerable with my ever expanding waistline.

I haven't measured myself, but will post the basics:
I am 5' 5" & weigh about 13 1/2 st - would love to get to 10 st, but will settle for something under 11!

My plan is:

  1. no toast for breakfast
  2. salad or soup in my packed lunch
  3. no alcohol on weekdays
  4. go to the gym/go running at least 3 times a week.

I think giving yourself a month & reviewing after that is a great idea, which I will copy!

Thanks for starting this thread & will try to check in regularly - but don't get to the pc every day.

Goodluck!

GoodChristianaRejoice · 31/12/2010 15:32

Me please. Seem to be increasingly putting on weight. Am going back to work soon after two children and really want ti get back to my old self

Am thinking of having

  1. Porridge for breakfast or an egg
  2. Salad or soup for lunch during the week when at the office, family lunch at weekend (ie let myself go time, but will be my only time with kids all week, plus I LOVe cooking and must indulge sometimes, so will let myself have some roast chicken or whatever)
  3. soup at night or simple pasta or rice with many vegetables
  4. Give up milky coffees and keep any alcohol drinking to just the very odd social occasion, no booze in the house but if i am at a social event then it's ok, as long as it's just one.

And the baking i love to do... Well that will just have to be a labour of love for my children and dh to enjoy when i am at work...

Am 5'6" and too scared to weigh myself but will judge everything by how i feel in my clothes

GoodChristianaRejoice · 31/12/2010 15:33

Oh and i forgot that i am going to the the 3o day shred

And go swimming with the kids at weekends

batgirl · 31/12/2010 15:38

Hi GoodChristianaRejoice,

I love cooking too, it makes it hard, though I suppose it should make it easier as you can cook lovely, healthy food!

I'm going to stick to my normal food in the evenings, it's fairly healthy, so my weight loss won't be rapid. I have teenage children & am paranoid about projecting diet issues onto my DD, so am keen that we all continue to eat the same food together (will just have to watch portion sizes!)

TitsalinaBumSquash · 31/12/2010 16:07

Great attitude Batgirl your DD obviously has a good role model.

I love to cook, in fact im at college studying catering...

I'm not sure what to do about lunch at college they have a Salad bar s i may just get salad avoidding the creamy ones of course. EIther that or i can take soup in my thermos.

I have just done 20 mins on the Kinect adventures game and i am dripping!

OP posts:
GoodChristianaRejoice · 31/12/2010 18:40

Soup in a thermos is a great idea

Think my real downfall has been portion control, or more accurately, the lack of it! I used to eat slowly then stop before getting full... Now I just 'finish things off' especially my dds' buttery toast...

PhishFoodAddiction · 31/12/2010 20:36

Hi,

Please can I join in too?

I'm 5"4' and weigh around 15 stone. Blush

I want to lose 6 stone but I'm going for a stone at a time.

I'm going to go on my exercise bike for 30 mins a day most days and cut back on the junk food/ chocolate/ ice cream etc.

I have a hideous photo of myself at my BIL's wedding...I thought I looked fine in my dress, but I didn't. I looked 8 months pregnant Shock and no-one told me! I'm using that picture for motivation.

PhishFoodAddiction · 31/12/2010 20:39

Titsalina is the kinect as good at it looks? DH really wants one but they are a lot of money. And I have a wii gathering dust already.

YuleTideD0G · 31/12/2010 21:02

Marking my spot. Back later

kayah · 31/12/2010 22:23

www.foodfocus.co.uk
and once start loosing it I'd like to becomr more active, starting with walking and yoga :)

TitsalinaBumSquash · 31/12/2010 22:55

Well personally I really like the Kinect, I have been playing Kinect Adventures that comes with it today for about an hour and it's loads of fun.

I have had a large Pizza feast with DP to mark the end of an era.. (fat era) lol

OP posts:
aristocat · 31/12/2010 23:34

hello ladies
i have been swimming 4 times a week since June and eating healthy and have managed to lose over 3 1/2 stone so far.
ATM i weigh 11st 11and would like to be under 10st eventually Smile

i have found the willpower which was always missing and 2011 is going to be a good one for all of us!

PhishFoodAddiction · 01/01/2011 12:28

Kinect looks really good. Maybe I could sell my wii since it hasn't done me much good (and I was sure just having it in the house was enough to make me lose weight...)

We had a big lasagne and chips last night, followed by sticky toffee pud and custard and a couple of glasses of wine... hopefully marking the end of my fat era too!

aristocat wow, sounds like you're doing great! I love swimming, but am sooo slow last time I went the pensioners were zooming past me Blush Grin

kayah · 01/01/2011 15:35

I think I should pay for some swimming lessons, everyone's faster than me in the pool :)

aristocat · 01/01/2011 16:01

Phish i am not that fast. i started doing 20 lengths each visit and gradually upped to 30 and then 40 (what i do now). the first few weeks are very hard but i needed to find an exercise that i enjoy Smile

there are some brilliant swimmers at our pool and lots like me who go to get fit.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 01/01/2011 17:32

I love to swim, I just cannot find time to do everything!

I have had another little go on the Kinnect today and was once again sweating like anything by the time i was finshed. We have also taken all the decs down so plenty of excersise for me!

I had fruit for Breakfast, Poached Eggs on Toast (I say toast it was Nimble bread...very depressing bread) for lunch and a steamed Chicken breast, Sugar snap Peas, Baby Corn and Broccoli for Dinner.

I have only drunk Tea with no sugar and skimmed milk and water today so im doing well, i have loads of sweets and stuff in the house though, its so tempting.

My sisters are both giving up smoking so iu am helping them and they are helping me.

Tw1nkle · 01/01/2011 17:41

Can I join please?

I'm 195Lb today, and would like to be 154Lb (11 stone).

TitsalinaBumSquash · 01/01/2011 19:22

Anyone can join! I have gone to bed and hidden away with a DVD and a can of Coke Zero, i know it's full of shite sweetners but it's either that or i eat the whole tin of Celebrations....

OP posts:
MusicalMummyJules · 01/01/2011 19:37

Hi All, I would also like to join. Will be starting diet/new eating habits next Monday as we have a big family party next weekend but will attempt to be as healthy as possible too. I'm greatly overweight and fed up of it, I love my food but love my life and family way more and I hate all the baggy clothes Im having to wear. I need to lose almost half my body weight (what a depressing thought) and the website, foodfocus that Kayah suggested tells me it will take me almost two years! My first goal is a wedding in June and my 30th birthday in July. Will be great to have somewhere I can come to for support as my lack of willpower is terrible!

Sassyfrassy · 01/01/2011 20:43

I'll join as well please.

I have about 4 stone to lose. I lost 1 stone last year between september and november by eating herbalife.

My plan now is to start up with herbalife again as I really like the shakes I can make and it means I actually eat three meals a day instead of snacks and dinner.

DH bought me a much longed for kinect for christmas so I have been using that every evening. I've got the fitness program which I quite like and I am absolutely hooked on dance central. After two songs I am usually drenched in sweat so I figure it must be doing me good.

Rowgtfc72 · 02/01/2011 08:01

Hi all would love to join you ladies! My motivation is my three yr old daughter wobbling my belly in the bath and laughing hysterically!Im 40 next yr and would like to be here to see grandkids.Im 5ft7 and just over 15 stone ,would love to lose three and a half and lose the obese label!Going to exercise and just be sensible!(got exercise dvd and balance ball for xmas !)

PhishFoodAddiction · 02/01/2011 11:52

Hi everyone, how are you all getting along?

My day was okay yesterday, I did have a couple of biccies though and 2 milk tray chocs Blush but I filled in the food diary that Kayah suggested and I actually ate less cals than I thought! And apparently I could be at my target weight by this time next year.

I've realised that I will fail pretty badly if I don't have the odd treat, because I'll end up having a binge. I'm trying to go by the motto of everything in moderation.

Did 15 mins on the exercise bike last night, so was quite proud of myself. I'm still recovering from flu so don't want to overdo it. Did 10 mins on the bike this morning as well before brekkie. It's easier to do 3x 10 mins than 30 mins all at once.

I'd love to start swimming again- I wish I was rich because there's a gorgeous private pool near us which I'd love to hire out! Save me the shame of my wobbly bits being on public display!

EBDteacher · 02/01/2011 12:29

I'd like to join please!

I'm 31, 5ft7 and 16st- bleugh! I have put on 4st since I fell pregnant in Nov 2009 and I felt fat then having just given up rowing and slobbed out for 6months!! I want to lose 6st and have given myself Aug 2012 (my DS's 2nd birthday) as a time limit.

Phish we want to lose about the same amount Smile.

Going back to work on Tuesday and really want a body I can relax in again!

I'm going to
a) give up alcohol except for special occaisions.
b) get 'into' running and go 3x a week
c) cut down on carbs
d) drink much more water

My first mini-goal is to lose 10lb, starting now!!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 02/01/2011 20:16

I did ok today, I seem to have slipped back into a Slimming World diet by myself so im going to run with it.

I slept through breakfast Blush
I had a grilled Mushroom, tomatoes and a Poached Egg on Toast for Lunch and Steamed Coley fillet, Sporuts, Carrotts and Onions for dinner.

Im finding myself really craving sweet things i had 2 matchmakers today, only 1 syn on slimming world!

Not a great deal of excersise today although I did a deap clean of my nans bungelow. She is in hospital and will be hopefully coming home soon.

OP posts:
PhishFoodAddiction · 03/01/2011 22:05

I like a lot of the SW food.

Hope your Nan is home soon Titsalina.

I need a kick up the bum as can't get motivated, though have cut out a lot of sugary snacks/ biccies/ crisps etc. I'm just so tired at the mo I don't feel like exercising.

EBDteacher I hope we can both lose 6 stone then. Do you feel daunted by the amount you need to lose? I get scared thinking how much needs to come off, so I'm thinking of setting myself small goals of say 7lbs at a time.
