Complete loss of mojo - anyone else?

As the title indicates, my get up and go has got up and gone. Feeling totally meh and lacking any motivation. Not depressed as such, just a horrible blank feeling. Can’t get excited about anything like I normally would.

I’m 54 and have been on 2.5mg since beginning MJ at the start of the year (apart from a month on 5mg which had too many side effects) and have lost 2 and a half stone, now in the healthy bmi range and just 8lbs away from goal weight. I feel lithe and slim and should be feeling wonderful but just feel utterly flat. Is it MJ anhedonia or is it menopause, I wonder. Or both…

Anyone else?

No not really. That’s a shame- sounds like you have done really well. I think I have heard of people feeling a bit flat on it. Peri menopause really did that to me.

Darkspiderplant · 05/06/2026 16:35

Yes I am like this. I feel so flat. I have so little energy.

violetmondays · 05/06/2026 17:59

Yes it has this effect on me and I've been on it since last April! Just feel totally flat most of the time. I am maintaining now but worried about coming off it so just putting up with the flatness for now.

SquadGoals75 · 05/06/2026 19:47

Me too. So tired. And too tired to exercise which would probably help. Vicious circle.

Toolea · 06/06/2026 06:21

@RockinCara I’m glad you’ve not experienced this and thank you for your empathy.

@Darkspiderplant @SquadGoals75 @violetmondays So sorry to hear you’re all struggling too. It’s pants. Thank you for letting me know I’m not alone. I’ve pretty much decided to make this Monday’s 2.5mg jab my last as I just don’t think I can put up with this anymore. I want myself back. I’m worried about the food noise returning obviously but I think I need to try. I have an unopened 5mg pen in the fridge so know that it’s there if things get too tricky - although it would just be a temporary sticking plaster.
I really hope you all find relief from the flatness soon. X

I’ve had a bit of this. I assumed it was because it removes the reward feeling, which is great for not caring for food but I found it also reduced the level of interest that I had in other things a bit too.

StartingApril2025 · 06/06/2026 23:45

Yes I had this for first 6-8mths and I was only up to 5mg max! Some improvement when went back from 5mg to 2.5mg but the flatness was definitely noticeable. Interestingly I have someone I know on them who has the complete opposite- so much energy, their get up and go increased, ocd reduced, depression reduced etc!!!

Winter2020 · 07/06/2026 03:34

You could consider lowering your dose. E.g. you could take 1 or 1.5mg by counting clicks. See if that helps while still taking the edge off food noise.

QueefQueen80s · 07/06/2026 10:27

My friends had this, just became very “meh” I wasn’t sure if it was the drugs or lack of food, we get a lot of pleasure from looking forward to and enjoying food. Once they stopped the jabs they became their happy selves again, but have put the weight back on.
I’ve accepted I’ll always be on them even if it means feeling a bit flat. I’d rather be slim and healthy

Toolea · 07/06/2026 12:26

@QueefQueen80s @Relaxd @Winter2020 @StartingApril2025 Thanks all for sharing your thoughts and experiences. It’s much appreciated. I’m having a terrible time with such low mood this weekend - it’s crippling. I’ve wondered about going down to 1.25mg but I’ve pretty much decided I have no choice but to stop as of now because I can’t bear feeling this way. My poor husband is so worried. I feel so frustrated because, as a breast cancer survivor and someone with ulcerative colitis and other auto immune issues, MJ was looking to be very helpful from a health point of view.

Did you use food to give you a dopamine hit. And if so did you replace it some other way to get a dopamine hit?

Toolea · 07/06/2026 20:48

Good question @Firesidechatter . Although I did use food and drink for dopamine hits, I was also using going to the gym for the endorphins which used to work but now longer does.

I've had a few periods like this on Mounjaro where I just felt a bit "meh" despite doing well 🤷‍♀️ I'm in my 60s, so I sometimes wonder whether it's hormones, life, or a bit of both. I found keeping up my daily walks and checking in with the clinician through the programme helped me stay focused 🌷

Wecandothisasalways · Yesterday 22:55

I have mentioned to my pharmacist every month that the only side effect I get is feeling really low/ negative on day three after my dose. It took me a few months to clock this pattern . I now tweak the day that I take the jab according to my commitments three days later ! I will have the dose on Thursday/ Friday or Saturday and ensure it doesn’t clash with my 12 hour shift on Tuesday or Wednesday or looking after grandchildren for long periods.
Otherwise I am very lucky that I don’t get any other symptoms.
