Can I ask those in maintenance, what dose are you maintaining on?

I’d like to be maintaining on 2.5 a week but it’s probably closer to 10. I tend to vary it according to how I’m feeling but generally it’s 7.5 most weeks I suppose

So those on Mounjaro - what are you maintaining on?

Theredjellybean · 23/04/2026 19:50

I have about 3.75 every 2-3 weeks.
But I never needed to go higher than 5 mg when I was losing weight.
I was very sensitive to it and still am.

Zempy · 23/04/2026 20:00

I never went higher than 10 and thought I would/should be able to maintain on 2.5.

Reality is, I need between 5 and 7.5 to maintain a healthy BMI. I wish it were lower as obviously there’s a cost implication, but I am just so grateful to have lost over five and a half stone, I feel blessed.

Everybodys · 23/04/2026 20:00

Average about 3 weekly, but like pp I never went above 5. I always presumed maintenance would work similarly to losing, ie some people respond to lower doses than others.

justasmalltownmum · 23/04/2026 20:04

I’m not on WLI but my parent is. What does maintaining dose mean? (They have only just started, first pen). Thanks

MummyInTheNecropolis · 23/04/2026 20:07

I never went above 10, now maintaining on 5 every 2 weeks but planning to try dropping to 2.5 after I finish my next pen.

I started in January 2025 and by October 2025 I had lost 40% of my body weight. I didn’t need to lose any more.

So I started tapering down through lower doses very slowly, and I lost about another half a stone doing this before finding the “maintenance dose” that is right for me. This allows me to stay at my new healthy weight.

Most, but not all people will regain weight without the medication. It’s the same as HRT, or blood pressure medicine or whatever. You stop taking it and your symptoms will return.

Nothing for your mum to worry about at this stage. Good luck to her.

Hi! This is a very relevant question for me. I lost 3 stone over a year or a bit more. My body reacts well to mounjaro. No excessive side effects, bit of early constipation and occasional colly wobbles. I reached goal at 10 and it it weren’t for the price and not wanting to stay on drugs for ever I’d stay on 10. Currently on 5. I’ve gained 3 pounds - which isn’t too bad. I’m watching the situation closely and won’t hesitate to go up again if I can’t manage on 5. It’s been such a life changer for me and I adore my new wardrobe so I’m not going to abandon my friend mounjaro. My health is better, better blood results, lower cholesterol.

Twasasurprise · 23/04/2026 20:29

I went to 10mg every 5 days at my max. Worked my way down slowly (usually 0.25mg or a click or two each time). I've been down to about 4.5mg every 5 or 6 days for approx 4 months. Not sure I can successfully go any lower at the moment or stretch out the days between doses.

schopenhauer · 23/04/2026 20:53

I was doing about 3.75 each week or 10 days but now OUSHK are saying that if there is more than 4 weeks between orders I have to go down a dose. I’m a bit annoyed as it’s going to cost a lot more to just be on a 2.5 pen (I think - maybe I’ll be ok though). Wondering if anyone has had the same or which pharmacy you are maintaining with?

ShrankLastWinter · 23/04/2026 21:25

I’m on 5mg down from max 7.5. (Actually I take 2.5mg twice a week to reduce the rollercoaster effect with the dose.)

I stayed on 7.5 for several months but carried on slowly losing, then did 6.25 and was still losing, so cut to 5. Still very slowly losing but only like 0.5kg a month max. I’m going to have to relax slightly and be a bit more liberal with snacks, but I’m terrified of gaining. Trying to focus on body recomposition and muscle building.

daffodilandtulip · 23/04/2026 22:01

5mg since about Sept (I think). I briefly switched to the equivalent in Wegovy thinking I’d save money but it was horrific. Plan to stay on for the foreseeable now. I never want to go back to how I was, I love feeling healthy and I love my new clothes so it’s worth it.

Are you on one of their maintenance plans?
I’m sort of ‘maintaining’ but not switched to a membership plan. And my ‘maintaining’ is just being done on 12.5mg every week.
im remaining the same weight, don't need to lose any further, but I don’t want to come off it. Happy to come down again in another month or so and see how I get in but with insulin resistant PCOS I wonder if it will just not be effective at all with me on the lower doses.
When I looked at Oushks maintenance plans a while ago I had decision paralysis so just decided to stick to reordering and jabbing weekly until anything changes!

Swalwey · 23/04/2026 22:21

I lost over 50 kilos (exactly half my initial weight) on Mounjaro. I have been maintaining at 5mg since reaching my goal weight 8 months ago. My weight is stable, within a kilo. I have tried going down to 3.75mg but had a significant increase in appetite and food noise. I’ve accepted that this is a lifelong condition and am happy to stay on my maintenance dose forever.

MJqueen · 23/04/2026 23:00

I’m still on around 7mg/week maintenance. Got up to 15mg dose while losing. I lost 54kg over about 15 months and have maintained for the past year.

I currently take 5mg every 5 days. I have experimented with different dosing. 3 days gives you the most consistent levels based on the half life, but a bit of a pain to administer. 5 days works out fine for me.

This dose helps me maintain easily within a 2kg range, I can eat but also cuts some (not all!) of the cravings.

I firmly believe I have a medical need for MJ and have no interest in coming off it.

Aside from the costs, take as much as you need. There’s no point in going back to struggling just so you can be on a low maintenance dose.

Backawayfromthesausage · 24/04/2026 07:29

5mg for me.

I was on 10, did an extra month on that, then moved to 7.5, then down to 5mg, I reverse dieted as I decreased the medication, so upped my cals by a hundred odd a week, and it offset any increase in hunger.

been maintaning for quite some time, about 14 months or so. Weight is very stable,

I have taken a few clicks extra, for example when I came back from a two week all inclusive, just to help me lose the few pounds I’d gained and get out the bad habits again,,

SpiralSister · 24/04/2026 07:34

5mg for me. It’s where I lost the majority of my weight too. I never went higher than 10, which was a bit high for me. Tapered down eventually to 2.5mg to maintain, but that was too low - got really hungry!

Can’t see me coming off, tbh.

LadyClumber · 24/04/2026 07:36

I never went higher than 5mg, notwithstanding my appetite wasn’t really suppressed to any great degree. Titrated down to 3.75mg but my chronic Achilles tendinitis returned so have gone back up to 5mg to manage the inflammation.

JenniferJupiterr · 24/04/2026 14:48

@MJqueen. I’m the same - I truly believe I ‘need’ MJ to maintain. We’ve all learned on this journey that it was never really about calories in vs calories out - it’s about how your body processes food and MJ means mine processes it as it should

I agree, I eat more now on MJ maintenance than I did when I was constantly gaining weight.

I dropped doses successfully in terms of maintaining weight, but had to raise slightly as my inflammation was coming back. Aches and pains returning were the first sign. I didn't want to wait for my bowel disease symptoms to return too, so slightly increased my dose back up to 4.5mg to 5mg every 5 days. So far, so good, although I am currently trialling a slightly lower dose every 4 days.

WeAllHaveWings · 24/04/2026 20:09

Never went higher than 3.75mg.

Maintained on 3mg for around 3 months. Down to 2.5mg last 6 weeks. Will probably stick there for current and at least another pen (10-12 weeks) before considering 2mg.

I expect to be on it for a long time to give best chance to maintain without, but also concerned inflammation, stiff/sore joints, water retention around ankles will return without it.

Although I know everyone has a different experience I believe that for me the effect of Mounjaro was absolutely about changing my appetite such that I ate less and was less tempted by snacking etc. Overall I believe my weight loss came from eating fewer calories not because of some different way of processing food. On lower doses - I was on 10 at my highest - I absolutely notice the increase in appetite and cravings and how I'm eating more. Just hoping I can balance a bit of help from Mounjaro with a bit more self discipline.

Madickenxx · Yesterday 12:15

At my highest dose I was on 12.5mg and I got to goal in October last year on 10mg. Stayed on 10mg for 3 months, then moved to 7.5mg. I am losing ca 1lb per month still so am going down 5mg next month and hope that will be a good dose to maintain on for a while. No plans to come off unless I’m forced to.

RoseField1 · Yesterday 12:17

Currently titrating down by one click a week, this week I have dosed 10.5mg. My goal is to keep going down as long as I'm maintaining, but I'll happily stop going down and stick at one dose if it feels like I've gone too low. Obviously I'd love to maintain at 2.5 but I doubt that would touch the sides given how much less I feel the effects even going from 15 to 10.5.
