Please help, desperate to start but totally overwhelmed

I’m sorry to post but I need help. I’ve researched MJ thoroughly, spoken to my GP, understand nutrition and have a plan for food and read through loads of threads on here. I’ve saved enough for approx 12 months of doses and have over 10 stone to loose.

I’m a full time carer for my 3 autistic kids and don’t have much uninterrupted time to think or do things. I’ve totally confused myself about where to order from and whether to stick with one supplier or shop around and I’m a bit stuck. I’m desperate to start asap for my health as my kids need me.

I’d be so grateful if someone could just tell me really simply buy from X or Y, order each month or in bulk or whatever and what a “good” price is please so as soon as I have a quiet minute I can just sign up and not have to redo the research over and over which leads me into a rabbit hole and means I waste the time I have without ordering my first pen. Thank you so much

There's really nothing much to it. I went with Asda as we have one close by. Online forms are straight forward. 1st pen was approved within 2 days. I had it delivered for convenience and discretion. Started a few days later and have now lost 3.5 stone. There's a website with all the price comparisons/discount codes on. I found that overwhelming initially too but have felt more able to look recently, 5 months in. I think the asda prices are very competitive at the moment though. Up to you what you decide and goodluck.

SilenceInside · 25/06/2025 09:58

I would stick with a supplier who is generally low in price, as it sounds like chopping and changing to chase discounts might be an admin headache you don't need. I would suggest Medicine Marketplace as they don't do discounts but are generally one of the lowest cost providers.

I am thinking medicine market place for my next order too...thanks for posting this.

People will push MedExpress because they have codes but have a look on www.monj.co.uk x

Doggielovecharlotte · 25/06/2025 10:03

OP take some full length photos of yourself now so you are ready when you order to upload them

I use Simple Online Pharmacy and have done for the past 8 months. They are usually towards the lower end of the price table and you can sometimes get a discount code. Good helpline if needed. You re-order each month and get a text reminder to order the new pen.

I can’t be doing with changing providers and chasing discounts each month.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 25/06/2025 10:05

Hi there.
I ordered from a few places but decided that Medino were the best.
I've been with them since last July.
They give you a discount themselves every month anyway, and their pharmacist is very friendly and helpful.

I've got an introductory discount code if you send me a PM.

And do come and join us on the 10st to lose thread. You'll be very welcome.

We have a local pharmacist that offers a service and doesn’t seem expensive - you collect from them, similar to Asda.
I chose one site that seems to be priced okay for the range of injections and will stick with them. They post out on a chosen day - if being in for deliveries is hard then choose the pharmacy/ Asda instead.

Time4changeagain · 25/06/2025 10:36

I’m with simple online pharmacy too. @friggingnora If you email them before ordering with proof you have found that dose cheaper they will send you a price match code. Usually works out cheaper than the company you are matching with because SOP match the pen price and only charge £4 for delivery.
Customer service has been good, always reply to emails quickly (including talking to a pharmacist) and no problems getting through on the telephone either.

Losingitandfindingmyself · 25/06/2025 10:41

I am with Chemist4U and would recommend them. I have also used MedExpress and Pharmacy4U.

They're all okay and no issues with any of them but prices are good at Chemist4U at the moment.

I do have discount vouchers which I wont share on her but you are welcome to DM me if you do want to use one.

Good luck anyway, it's honestly changed my life and I am just sorry I didnt start when they first came out.

KrankyKumquat · 25/06/2025 10:54

I've been with Oushk for a long time and been really happy with support, prices, with regular discounts, and service especially being able to choose dpd or RM and choose/change delivery day, and good maintenance provision. Chemist4U and Simple Online get good reviews so I'm sure you'll fine with any of these and there's probably not much to choose between them. Basically, these are all big pharmacies with established track records supplying WLIs so you can be confident they'll be OK. I wouldn't pay extra for a subscription service with added coaching, etc. It sounds great but in reality, for most people, MJ is a pretty easy medication to take and manage and doesn't require expensive extra support - you'll get lots of good advice on here if you need it.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 25/06/2025 11:00

Honestly, you’re going to get 100 different responses as everybody seems to have a vested interest in pushing the pharmacy they use😂

@SilenceInsideis the answer you need (as usual! She talks a LOT of sense). Order your first pen and then see how you feel as you relax into the routine and learn more about how it all works. I spent 3 months with my first provider before I decided to move on and have shifted again since as I have realised more and more about what’s important to me. You do not need to make a decision before you start about what to do on the future. Good luck!

SkibidiSigma · 25/06/2025 12:15

Agree with sticking with a generally low priced one, if the hassle of changing is too much. Chemist4u are currently £99 for 2.5 and 5mg and generally competitive prices, plus reliable. If I was starting now I would use them (I'm with Zava so no vested interest here!)

I would not use simple online pharmacy due to the number of negative reviews. One Mumsnetter had an absolute nightmare with them after recieving 2 warm pens. There are plenty of reviews saying similar about them if you Google.

Ferntreegully · 26/06/2025 22:34

Thank you so much everyone, I can’t say how much your clear and supportive responses have helped me. Together you’ve given me the structure and nudge I needed to just get on and take that step to get signed up. I’ve been approved today and the first pen is on its way. I’m incredibly relieved and so grateful to all of you kind internet strangers! Will definitely check out the other thread suggested for 10+ stone to loose, thank you for that also.

@Ferntreegully maybe you meet the criteria for free MJ on the NHS due to BMI and any co-morbs?

www.england.nhs.uk/ourwork/prevention/obesity/medicines-for-obesity/weight-management-injections/

Well done on saving the money for inj but maybe you could redirect that to a gym membership or clothes as a reward for each stone dropped? I pick up crazy dresses from posh charity shops for about £7 which I have so much fun prancing about at home in.
