MJ in the fridge but can’t do it!

As per the title really, I’ve bought MJ through Voy, have read up loads about it but it really seems like Russian Roulette if you get mild or severe side effects. Every time I convince myself to do it, I end up reading about someone who collapsed with pancreatitis, the lovely lady in Scotland who died, explosive D&V, etc, etc and I back out of doing the shot! I have about 2 stone to lose and haven’t had much success despite attempting all the usual methods! 45, 5ft 7, 14st 3lbs……
I don’t have any underlying health conditions but what if this triggers something dreadful? Argh I’m in such a muddle! 😵‍💫

Go for it. You’ll be fine. Think about how many 100s of people on these threads alone are using it with no severe issues. You won’t look back

threeeggsontoast · 21/05/2025 19:21

Don’t be spooked by potential side effects. 2.5mg is a ‘starter dose’ and it’s very likely you’ll be fine. I was afraid too and dithered for a few days but I’ve been absolutely fine.

GenF · 21/05/2025 19:29

I dithered at first, but I just thought I've bought it now go for it, I was ok mostly, being brutally honest I think most people do suffer some side effects, but I think on the whole they're mild ,just be prepared, pepto bismol is great for most things.
Electrolytes for hydration and prunes if you become constipated which I did about week 3 or4. Anyhow 11 weeks in and I'm 2 stone down so on the whole it's been worth it.

SilenceInside · 21/05/2025 19:33

Don't forget that remaining obese may trigger something dreadful too. It’s not a neutral position to be in.

Ive been using Mounjaro for more than 10 months now, I’ve lost over 8 stone and I have not had any terrible side effects. Some digestive upset in the early days when moving up a dose, but nothing for about 8 months now. Side effects are usually mild, short lasting and treatable with dietary changes and/or OTC medication.

Fatmumslim01 · 21/05/2025 19:37

I was the same as you I had it in my fridge about 2 weeks before I plucked up the courage to start!

Now I'm 9 weeks in and a stone down! It's been life changing for me already. The only side effects I've had are slight nausea when I've gone up a dose but that passed in 3-4 days and some heartburn that passed with otc medicine .

Being obese has it's health risks, with a BMI of 39.8 when I started 9 weeks ago I couldn't make it up my stairs at home without gasping for breath at the top that can't be healthy. I now a stone lighter find it hard but it's getting easier

lissie123 · 21/05/2025 19:43

I was terrified. Made sure my DH was around and then just thought it’s now or never and just got on with it. I was shaking and frightened when I was doing the injection. And afterwards I was on high alert for any possible symptom. I think my DH was getting a bit exasperated because nothing manifested. I was fine. Most people just have a few niggles or symptoms that can be easily remedied. Good luck 😉

littletsmama · 21/05/2025 19:59

Ahh, thank you, I knew I’d find some sense here, thank you all for replying. I’ll have a word with myself and aim to go for it over the weekend when my husband is around! Well done to all of you on your amazing losses! Do I need to eat particularly carefully prior to taking the first jab? I really want to limit the potential for side effects but will stock up on the essentials so I have them to hand in case! 🙏🏻

lapuf · 21/05/2025 20:02

I bought it as a bit of an impetuous act after reading about Allison Pearson in the Telegraph Grin did my first two jabs on a Monday morning but then realised that was a bit too much stress with the kids/work etc so changed to Sunday evening before bed. You’ll be fine Halo

WhineAndWine1 · 21/05/2025 20:08

I’m sorry but that is a bit pathetic. It’s a simple injection and why did you buy it and then read up on it ? Such a waste of money

I was the same as you, was in fridge over a week before I took the plunge.
I was very nervous first few weeks and less and less now (currently in week 11)

personally I felt a bit nauseous first couple of days never since even when going up doses (currently doing 6.25 mg) a bit of headache if I don’t drink enough (quickly passes if I drink) and cold hands and feet’s couple of days after each jab

most SE is only for the first couple of days and will most likely level off after a couple of weeks

make sure you drink aloooot of water (helps reduce SE and also booosts weightloss), prunes for constipation , no fatty food to avoid D&V

you gonna be fine good luck ☺️

That’s really unkind and unhelpful.

Rainbowchicken · 21/05/2025 20:36

I was the same, in the end I couldn't even really tell I'd taken it, zero side effects until 7.5mg. You'll be fine, just eat sensibly the day before to be safe.

LaurieFairyCake · 21/05/2025 20:54

so I will counteract this with a good story, a really pertinent one for today as today is the day I reached my goal weight Smile after 27 years of being overweight

taken it just under a year, NOT ONE side effect. NOT ONE bad day.

size 6-8. Weigh 8 stone. Energy of a 30 year old. Focus amazing. Hormones in balance.

littletsmama · 21/05/2025 20:56

Thanks so much for all the useful tips and encouragement, I’m going to join the May starters group for some friendly support 😊

Wow, congratulations! That must be such an amazing feeling! So pleased to hear you didn’t suffer on it! I hope to be in the same position one day 😊

OddBoots · 21/05/2025 21:07

I stocked up on travel sickness tablets for nausea, peppermint oil capsules for sulphur burps and imodium instants for the runs.

I didn't need any of them but felt better having them.

What a stupid thing to say...think about how many hundreds of people take Heroin...doesn't make it a good idea does it?! You have no idea if she will be fine and nobody has any idea about long term dose effects from taking this rubbish.

notenoughhere · 21/05/2025 21:22

I felt like you but decided the risks to my health being 20 stone were far greater than the risk of any ‘usual’ side effects. I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to being unwell so I decided to give it a week and see how I got on. If I had bad side effects or wasn’t getting on with it ok I would stop.

IT. CHANGED. MY. LIFE.

6 months later, 5 stone down. So many other positive factors like reduced inflammation and anxiety and raised mood and ability.

I would urge anyone who is considering it to give it at least that first week to see how they get on. I would also suggest overhauling your entire diet starting a couple of days before taking it and eating 3 proper meals a day.

edited to add - I have stuck on 2.5mg the whole time with no intention of going up

Please be careful...think about what you've just said. If you have to be diet conscious when taking it then be diet conscious anyway?! People on this have changed their diet in line with it so the reason they're losing weight is because of that...the drug probably does nothing beneficial. It's such a scam

Honestly this is such a mad comment. You’re comparing a regulated prescription medication that’s approved in the UK, that’s been legitimately prescribed to the OP for a condition that she has, to heroin??!! Ok…..

So far, in all of the many research trials there have been no unexpected long term negative effects from taking Mounjaro. There’s no difference between this any any other recently developed prescription medication, nothing that makes Mounjaro somehow more dangerous or more risky than other medications that have been approved by the MHRA for use in the UK.

OP has been PRESCRIBED this licensed drug, after having answered a detailed set of questions, pertaining to her health.I don't think most heroin users have been prescribed it.

It’s not a scam. Confused Yes, people have to change their diet for it to work but the point is that they haven’t been able to change their diet previously. It’s the drug that enables them be able to change it.

To be safe, I would say yes to eating as well as you can the day before. I just followed a calorie controlled diet and drank lots of water. You’ll need to eat well when you take the jab too (lots of protein and fibre and at least 2lt of water a day) but the difference is, it’s just easy to keep doing it and you won’t find yourself madly tempted by treats.
