People on GLP1 to be offered the coil?

Hi,

I hope this is just bonkers; I couldn't sleep middle of the night and stumbled on a social media post that said and I hope is kind of very fake and misguided, people with period problems who are on hrt and on a GLP1, are going to be switched to a coil?

I'd been sent a letter about changing HRT after a hospital rejected a referral for a gynae problem, but it doesn't say a change how exactly and I have to book an appointment with the nurse to get this info seemingly.

I've not read it but you can offered whatever. It doesn't mean you have to accept it.

I hope this link works! There is new guidance from menopause society around taking WLI when also on HRT. Clearly someone has half read this and run with it!
Please read the full article which explains the actual issue more fully, but basically, as I understand it:
-If you are taking oral oestrogen, you should consider gel or patches instead (that’s not new, they are always pushing that)
-more critically, and this is new, WLI may effect the absorption and effectiveness of oral progesterone, which is clearly a big concern for endometrial protection. Therefore those women should be going onto coil or presumably patches.

What this will look like in RL who can say. Doesn’t appear to be NICE guidelines yet. Don’t know what providers will do, if anything. Or GPs.

But it is a worry if the research is right, and you are on oral progesterone!

Hope this helps.
