Horrific side effects these last 2 weeks after months of nothing

I’ve been on MJ for coming up to a year. I am at target but still on 15mg and am planning to start titrating down soon.

I have been relatively lucky with side effects, with just a couple of weeks of sickness when I was on 7.5mg (I think). Otherwise apart from mild nausea and a bit of tiredness all good.

But these last 2 weeks, oh my god. The day or so after the injection I have been absolutely sick as a dog. Stomach pain, diarrhoea, vomiting, plus fatigue etc. I thought last week was a one off but I’m the same again tonight. I don’t think anything else has changed, I’ve not eaten anything out of the ordinary.

Any idea why I’m suddenly like this? Could it be more than just side effects? (Gallstones?) Will titrating to 7.5mg help?

And in the mean time any advice to help me feel better?

From what I’ve read on the weight loss board, there’s people who are experiencing side effects after having months of none. Sometimes, some say that the highest dose you can tolerate is the one below the one causing you side effects so going down doses might help. However, I know some posters like to make out that it’s the food you ate, a bug etc that’s causing the side effects however that’s not logical as even the manufacturers lists what you’ve described as a side effect.
I know some people might come at me for this comment but I don’t understand the reasoning behind someone who is no longer obese or overweight or even trying to lose anymore weight being on the highest dose of a weight loss medication and expecting no side effects. I would think you need to move down doses.
I was on MJ for 20 weeks, lost the weight, got to target and stopped. Even with all the Nay sayings, fear mongering, I’m still maintaining fine effortlessly off the jab. I never went past 5mg when I was losing weight so I understand I’m one of the lucky ones to respond to it quickly but can’t see why you should still be on 15mg when you’re at goal weight.

It seems possible to me that to be maintaining weight while on such a high dose, you must be eating more than the combination of your body and the drug can handle?

Why are you still on 15mg if on target and wanting to maintain? Just take less!

Remember as well that the half life is 5 days so every time you take it, there is more in your system than last time. So you may have been fine for 3 weeks on that dose but now it has tipped you over whatever your body’s limit is.
To be honest, I don’t think they have done enough studies to be able to completely conclude that BMI has zero to do with the impact. But when people of normal weight start taking it they often react very badly (and these are many of the cases where they end up in hospital) and people then explain it that they didn’t need it in the first place. But if it has nothing to do with current body weight then I’d expect a healthy weight person to be fine on it (it just delays gastric emptying).
I do think that in 5-10 years with more studies on this they will be telling people to start on lower doses and to stay low.

🙌

Brilliant post. I couldn’t agree more. I am definitely in favour of weight loss jabs, but people have to use their own common sense and sensitivity and judgement. Just because the pharmaceutical company says you need to go up a dose every month, it doesn’t mean that you have to! Medicines affect people differently. Also, in my long experience, pharmaceutical companies tend to underestimate side effects. Eg. I had the side-effect of dipsomania with a common painkiller. It was not listed as a possible side effect, but if you looked on the Internet, it was definitely a side-effect according to some peoples experience. I have always proceeded with caution with medicines, often starting at half the recommended dose. With MJ I have done just this, even though some people shout at posters who alter their dosage because of this kind of caution or questioning.
