Lines or wrinkles since starting MJ

Hi. I have been taking mounjaro for 17 weeks and at my 18th week just increased my dose to 7.5mg from 5mg.

In noticed my hair was thinner a few weeks ago but now notice a lot more lines and wrinkles on my face.

I am happy that I’ve lost one and a half stone and think my face would have this change anyway whether it was with MJ or natural weight loss through any ‘normal’ diet.

Has anyone else noticed this change?

You see the lines because your face is holding less fat. My face used to be massive like a moon but now I have lost a few stone you can see my true age as the wrinkles have appeared. It’s not Mounjaro that does that, it’s simply having less padding on your face

I've been on MJ since January and have lost 14.3kgs. I have definitely noticed more wrinkles on my face and particularly under my chin. I now have a crepe-y patch where my skin hangs all loose and wrinkly. But lots of people are commenting on how skinny my face is looking. If only the weight loss went where I really want it to go!!

WafflingDreamer · 23/03/2025 20:44

I've lost 4st and I feel like at least half of that has come off my face. I've got a horrid bit of loose skin under my chin I think being fat pads out the wrinkles more, like a filler.

Lovelysummerdays · 23/03/2025 20:47

Not on injections but I’ve lost weight and absolutely makes you look a bit haggard. I think the old adage of you can save your face or your arse is true.

OntheTrainX · 23/03/2025 21:00

Great thread! I’ll be honest, I used to love the fact that people thought I was younger than I was. But health considerations associated with having a 32 BMI overrode that when I reached my fifties. So yes, I am choosing arse over face. That said, I will probably be content at 25-26 BMI which was my BMI when I was at my fittest at age 30ish and felt amazing, so I’ll never be “thin”.

Nevertrustacop · 23/03/2025 21:22

If you have ever been overweight and then lose weight then yes, you will have less well padded skin and thus more wrinkles. It's the weight loss not Mounjaro. That said, if you maintain the loss after a bit, depending on age the skin will firm up somewhat. Skin is constantly regrowing of course and adapting to the area it has to cover, but much more slowly in older people. I lost two stone quite quickly and looked drawn. I've maintained for three months and look a bit better now I think.

Azureshores · 23/03/2025 21:37

I'm finding the opposite actually. I think my face looks better for losing weight bc before I was developing jowls and a double chin and now my face is slimmer they look much better. I have a bit of botox in my 11's and round my eyes but did that before I lost weight anyway. I feel I'm looking pretty good!

TrinityWaves · 23/03/2025 21:41

I think this is one of those things that just happen with weight loss, MJ or otherwise. As commented above it's face or arse!
My face definitely looks thinner (just over 3 stone down) and I wonder what 4 more stone ish will do age wise, my Mum's description was "wow your head looks so much smaller now".

Well both of mine have gone south for the winter!

AmythestBangle · 23/03/2025 22:10

My DH says my face is looking drawn and he may be right. I have lost nearly 2 stone. I would actually be happy to maintain at the weight as I don't want my face (and neck) to change much more, but although everything else is good I still have these stubborn tummy rolls that persist. My arms are so thin but there is still the damn muffin top!

sumbum · 24/03/2025 05:09

When i started the injections i made a point to go full throttle with my skincare regime and i think thats helped! LED mask too. My jowls are looking much better! 'Ozempic face' was a big concern for me before i started so i have been fairly consistent with skincare and using the mask.

Get a good retinal and LED mask and do a bit of research around what else is suitable for your skin.

Im looking at getting polynucleotides too very soon to give collagen a boost.

Apparently botox is being found to be dissolving very quickly for those on WLI so that option will be explored once I'm off these.

I hope you find what works for you.

Can I ask how old (ish) you are?

I'm 44. Old!

TryForSpring · 24/03/2025 17:09

Everything sprang back into place for me too at that age, @Azureshores. Ten years later, I'm not so hopeful...

Sorry 😞 to hear that. What’s the solution? Stay a bit plumber overall? Hard decision.

Yes I think so too. Being a little overweight keeps the wrinkles at bay!

Good muscle tone in your face helps, same as anywhere else in your body.

Well both of mine have gone south for the winter!

Sadly that’s true for me too. My 14yo looked me up and down recently and suggested squats.

Summerhillsquare · 25/03/2025 06:57

Ah, teen-agers, guaranteed to lower your self esteem...

PermanentTemporary · 25/03/2025 07:00

Oh definitely wrinklier and it's due to the weight loss. But tbh I don't think anyone was looking at my smooth(er) neck with admiration at BMI 34.

Pashazade · 25/03/2025 11:58

Yup neck has gone all scrawny but less double chins so……hoping once the weight has been off a while that it will even out a bit more!

I must learn face muscle exercises. Thank you for your comments.

44 is not old..

WeAllHaveWings · 28/03/2025 15:41

Mines is fine..........if I put two fingers on each of my temples and push firmly upwards about an inch!

Otherwise................everything below nose level - nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jowls, mouth frown, neck are all deep and horrific now. To be expected I guess as I am 56, have lost over 6st, and I don't have the skin collagen of youth anymore! I will just need to content myself with being healthier on the inside!
