Is there any loss in 1st month?

I've signed up for monjaro, hoping to start 2.5 end of this week.
Is it always the case that you don't lose until the 2nd month when you go up in strength?

Wanted to have a better idea as I would think it's not working for me if no loss and stop using.

What is it that causes the thinning hair?

It's just weight loss itself, causing hair loss. It's called telogen effluvium and can happen if you lose weight rapidly. Which can happen with Mounjaro. Or another weight loss approach like Fast 800 for example.

In my situation I believe I experienced temporary hair shedding (telogen effluvium).

This can be triggered by stress, changes in lifestyle, weight loss etc. it’s not permanent and it doesn’t cause any damage to hair follicles. You just need to wait for it to grow back.

As for why, I assume it’s just a case of your body prioritising resources and nutrients in survival mode. If you think about it, being on weight loss injections is being in a calorie deficit for an extended period of time. It’s a shock to the system. It’s natural for your body to essentially prioritise the core functions to survive as opposed to lower priority things like hair. Your body isn’t to know that weight loss is intentional after all, it’s probably just thinking “wtf” until it adjusts

Hi. I lose weight very slowly and am about 3 stone overweight. I have been on 2.5mg for 8 weeks and lost 1 stone. I've had very good food suppression too.

It's just the weight loss, it's very annoying. I'm off it now as I'm at target but no sign of any regrowth yet. I was on it a year, well just over.

I think I've lost about 1/3 of my hair. It's pretty rubbish as it's obviously very noticeable but I'm hoping it will start growing back now I'm off and maintaining.

I don't regret it though. I'm much happier and healthier.

I lost 11lbs on 2.5mg, then I moved up to 5mg for two months and it slowed down. I've since been on 7.5mg for a month and it is falling off me now. I've lost 2st4lbs in four months. I've got no intention of stepping up from 7.5mg for the foreseeable.

Hi. Hope it's ok to post. Had my first dose of Mounjaro ( low dose) on Sunday. Have used Wegovy and ozempic in the past. Hoping to lose weight for holiday in July - I'm 13 stone 9, and I feel awful 😞

I've taken my third injection (delayed by a couple of days) and I've lost 15lbs. I am in the obese category though.

After the first jab I experienced immediate appetite suppression. All was good until three days after my second jab then the nausea and vomiting kicked in. That passed over last weekend and so far so good this week (fingers crossed). As PPs have said, everyone reacts differently xx

It's impossible to say. Some lose loads, some a little and some none.

RunSlowTalkFast · 26/02/2025 13:22

Don't think I lost anything the first month, it's been very gradual for me.
