Feeling nervous about going up to 5mg - did any of you who didn’t get side effects on 2.5 then get them on 5?

As the title says really, I’ve been very lucky so far on 2.5 with no side effects. Due to move up to 5 soon and just wondered if anyone suddenly got them when moving onto 5mg?

I've gone to 3.75 and it's working ok. Might go up to 5 next week. No side effects.

MelainesLaugh · 27/11/2024 17:52

No massive side effects on either dose. I’m now on 7.5 and I haven’t had any on that.

Just a bit of constipation but a whole lot of benefits

Pegsmum · 27/11/2024 19:17

I had minimal side effects on 2.5, so I went straight to 5mg and it was awful. Came down to 3.75 for two weeks which was fine, so today I’ve braved the 5mg again…pray for me!!

FoodieToo · 27/11/2024 19:18

Yes, me unfortunately . Almost no side effects on 2.5 mg. Pretty bad on 5mg . Have had 2 days off work with stomach issues ( unheard of for me !!) , lots of strange stomach aches and cramps .
Tried 3.75mg last week and was sick too.
Going to go back to 2.5 .

PoliticallyErect · 27/11/2024 20:50

I went from 2.5 to 5 with more or less zero side effects.

The only way forward is to bite the bullet and try it. Everybody reacts so differently. Just choose a window of time - if possible - where you could have 48 hours after taking it to be able to rest / easy access to a loo!

Henrythegorilla · 27/11/2024 20:55

I went up to 5mg at the weekend after 5 weeks on 2.5. So far no problem. I had no side effects on 2.5 and toyed with the idea of trying 3.75 first, but decided to give it a go. Fingers crossed I can stay at this level for a few months.

jupiterhigh · 27/11/2024 20:59

I haven't had any issues, recently moved to 7.5mg and similar there, but I could feel it more if that makes sense. I swear by eating well, lots of protein and loads of water on jab day, not sure if it helps but not really wanting to test it out.

Jabtastic · 27/11/2024 21:00

This is interesting as I just took 3.75 tonight rather than go straight to 5. I was too scared to do 5!

ItsMintUpNorth · 27/11/2024 21:00

Very few symptoms on either dose so far for me

SnacklessWonder · 27/11/2024 21:01

I had no side effects on 2.5mg or 5mg.

lapuf · 27/11/2024 21:08

I've posted on the October thread that I've moved up to 3.75 this week after five weeks on 2.5 and the suppression is too much. No notable side effects other than feeling freezing but this might be due to having a nasty cold and not being able to eat enough! So I'm probably going to drop back down to 2.5 on Sunday.
I'm over a third through what I want to lose (13.5lbs down out of a 32 target) so happy to slow it down a bit.

ApolloandDaphne · 27/11/2024 21:09

I was great on 2.5 but have felt terrible on 5, I have done 5 twice now and plan to move back to 2.5 next time.

Scrimt · 27/11/2024 21:09

I'm on 10mg and I haven't had any side effects at any point.

Mysticmaiden2024 · 27/11/2024 22:07

I had lots of side effects on 2.5 but none on 5mg

Losingthetimber · 27/11/2024 22:10

Yes first week on 5 felt really crappy, dizzy nauseas etc, but I powered through did second dose , felt better second time, slightly slightly ropey at first and now feel fantastic, good suppression, like I did on 2,5 at first , due third on sat. I think the dosing is correct, your body adjusts and gets used to it, hence why you need to move up. For me, 2,5 was not enough, I was getting hungry and could feel it wearing off and not having much impact by the 4rh dose.

Doggymummar · 27/11/2024 22:11

7.5 and no side effects yet

unsync · 27/11/2024 22:33

Bit of a dicky tum for a couple of days, but nothing since, now on 15 mg with no side effects whatsoever. 5 mg was the only dose that gave me side effects.

ButterfliesnWaterfalls · 27/11/2024 23:54

I had some dose left in my 2.5mg pen but the pen is stuck and doesn’t allow the dose to be extracted.

How do people move to 3.75?

I have stayed on 2.5 due to fear of side effects too.

Lola3034 · 28/11/2024 00:42

I barely had any side effects on 2.5 and then literally nothing on 5mg

sausagepastapot · 28/11/2024 00:57

Made me extremely sick for a week. I had to completely stop. No side effects on 2.5!

3luckystars · 28/11/2024 01:01

Do you mind me asking why you have to go up, if it’s working well?
Apologies I know so little about it, I’m just curious as usually when a drug is working, I would stick to it and only increase a dose if it stopped working as well.

I used an insulin needle to get the golden dose out (watched a YouTube video) and then for the 3.75 only did 45 clicks on my 5mg pen

Because your body adjusts so you feel very little impact. 2.5 isn’t even a therapeutic dose, it’s just the start treatment to enable your body to adjust to the drug. In real terms it does very little, the impact is when you move up.

however lots of people use the drug like a crutch to support their willpower, are worried about side effects or try to stay on a low dose as it’s cheaper, and that’s great too. Whatever works for someone.

It's the approved dosage schedule. 4 weeks on 2.5mg which is not intended to produce weight loss although many people experience weight loss during those 4 weeks. Then you move up to 5mg and spend at least 4 weeks on that, then you can move up if you feel you need to. The drug trials followed this model and moved people up to their highest tolerated dose out of either 5, 10 or 15mg. The outcomes of people on those doses were what was studied and reported.

Real life is not a drug trial of course, and many people find that 2.5mg has a big effect and then don't want to move up to 5mg for fear of having zero appetite and struggling to eat at all whilst experiencing unpleasant gastric side effects. In the drug trials I suppose people with those kinds of side effects probably would have dropped out if they couldn't have managed to cope on 5mg or 2.5mg.
