First day on mounjaro and I just didn't feel hungry at all, which is obviously great but because of this I barely ate a thing. What are we all eating? Surely I need to eat something?! Help!

Make your calories count. Protein and fibre. Lots of water.

it can be tempting to just have a couple of biscuits or whatever but try to make sure what you are managing to eat is healthy.

DrizzleMySwizzle · 31/10/2024 21:46

🤔

surely you know what constitutes a healthy meal?

LittleRebelGirl · 31/10/2024 21:50

At first, I had to go for high calorie foods. Lots of dairy. Drinking milk etc. It was all I could manage to get 1000 cals in.
As time goes on, that changed, but at first, high cal food (healthier high cal!) was the best option.

Of course I do and that wasn't what I was asking. I don't feel like eating a whole meal or any single bit of food at all so I was wondering what other people are eating. Are you all eating 3 meals a day? Healthy obviously

Eat real food, mostly vegetables, not too much. Advice for life.

828Pax · 31/10/2024 21:56

Thank you @LittleRebelGirl @Peridot1

All of my meals are now on a side plate, try that and see if it helps

828Pax · 31/10/2024 21:58

Thank you @GinForBreakfast. It was weird today, not fancying anything at all but knowing I need to eat something. It is definitely a revelation!

I do fast 800 but generally all in one meal, occasionally a meal and a snack. Today I had a protein bite, then a portion of salmon with a piece of bread and butter.

Slimmingtime · 31/10/2024 22:06

The advice is many small meals rather than two or three big ones. Eat fruit, veg, salad, proteins like lean meats, small portions, maybe 5 times a day . Don’t starve yourself you will be very ill.

TheChosenTwo · 31/10/2024 22:07

I’m mostly eating 2 meals a day, a lunch of veggies (leftovers a lot of the time) and feta mostly and then a small serving of our usual dinner.
Last night though I just had boiled egg and soldiers for dinner and so no leftovers for lunch, I got a M&S Korean chicken style noodle bowl thing as I couldn’t muster any enthusiasm to prepare anything for going into the office and for dinner I had some lamb and Greek salad.

828Pax · 31/10/2024 22:08

thanks so much for all the ideas, they are really helpful

I have 2 meals a day ( I am short so need 1000 cals a day to lose). Lunch is typically around 250 cals. Dinner 550 ish. I avoid fat and try to eat protein and some carb. I also have a protein yoghurt. I drink a pint of phizz caffeine free electrolyte solution during the day plus take a multi vitamin.
I have done this for 12 weeks straight and lost 22 lbs.

TheSilkWorm · 31/10/2024 22:09

Usually 3 meals a day, yes. Sometimes skip lunch because I prefer to eat dinner with DH and if I eat too much at lunch I can't eat dinner. My meals are a lot smaller. Some days I feel a lot of suppression so I eat less, other days I feel more hunger so I eat more. Don't stress if you really can't face eating, there will be other days where you feel relatively normal.

LordBummenbachsMagnificentBalls · 31/10/2024 22:10

I am eating a lot of plain foods like soup, or rice cakes with cream cheese and salad

MounjaroUser · 31/10/2024 22:10

Make sure you drink a lot of water otherwise you'll get constipated. You could eat much smaller versions of what you'd normally have, or just have meat or fish with salad or vegetables. A tiny slice of bread will really fill you up - so much so that I can't eat anything else for ages if I have any.

Whose advice is this, if you don't mind my asking @Slimmingtime
And what do you mean by many?

TiredOfNames · 31/10/2024 22:13

I cannot eat a full meal in one go now as it's too much and I become nauseous once I eat a normal full meal. So i eat this and that throughout the day and by the end of the day, I've eaten a whole small meal or 2 at most. What i eat consist mainly of protein: meat (lots of cooked chicken), fish, eggs, vegetables, fruits or smoothies, sometimes rice (and no other carbs like bread unless occasionally). All in different forms and at different times. Not everything in one day.

Sometimes coffee with milk, chips, eggs.

Occasionally few chocolate pieces when I can eat them, and any other thing.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 31/10/2024 22:18

It slows your digestion so I find eating small meals best otherwise I feel too bloated.

Boiled eggs on toast seem to work well to settle my stomach.

Have you ever taken Mounjaro? There is no way someone could eat five times a day! You'd feel like you were going to explode.

KitsyWitsy · 31/10/2024 23:12

For me, I’m also really struggling sometimes. Just not hungry at all!

i prioritise protein and vegetables and I eat a lot of those protein puddings and mousses.

BetterInColour · 31/10/2024 23:16

I had to make myself eat three meals a day when I first started out, as I didn't want to lose weight too quickly and lose muscle mass or my face collapse in. I did what others have suggested, ate small half size meals, made sure they all had protein in them, lots of dairy and yoghurts and lean meat, not lots of carbs, and just made sure I ate protein/carbs and veggies at every meal. Snacked on nuts, seeds, fruit, the odd bit of choc/cake if I wanted it, but smaller size.

After a while I got into it all and now it's quite easy to eat like that all the time. You do need to make sure you are well-nourished though, it's not great to lose muscle especially if you are a bit older like me!

I eat three meals, sometimes half at a time, then the rest later, and one snack. So approx five times. It works for me, I prefer to keep steady with calories and make sure I eat up to my limit though, no low cal days, as I don't want my body to get used to very low calories permanently.

WeeklyJab · 31/10/2024 23:20

I eat twice a day - something like baked beans or an omelette and a tomato salad at one meal and a small veg curry or fish soup at the other.

I drink a lot of water and if I want a snack, something like half a banana in Greek yogurt keeps me going for a good couple of hours.

TimeForATerf · 31/10/2024 23:22

I’ve been on it since mid June and am over three stones down. I count all my calories in MyFitnessPal and generally eat healthy, well balanced food. UPFs and greasy food do not work well with Mounjaro for me.

Today was an odd day, no appetite, had no lunch or breakfast, just two all milk coffees then some sushi for dinner. Finally had an appetite at supper time so had two satsumas, 100g Christmas cake no icing or marzipan, and 40g creamy Lancashire cheese.

Not what I would call super healthy, it could have been worse though and it was very palatable.
