First day on mounjaro and I just didn't feel hungry at all, which is obviously great but because of this I barely ate a thing. What are we all eating? Surely I need to eat something?! Help!

The cool thing about MJ is that it helps reduce our insulin levels, if we’re responding well to the drug.

Oh I thought it helped facilitate insulin production and that's why it's used to treat diabetes? So more insulin, blood sugar under control is what I thought was the process. I think it also works on the liver to reduce the release of glucose from there. Sorry, bit of a derail 😂

😂@gimmemounjaro sorry, I’m multitasking!! Yes- it increases insulin so we don’t get the spikes in blood sugar, it stabilises both really. Mounjaro provides blood sugar control. It’s very clever, how GLP-1 drugs work. I’m glad there’s someone else who’s interested in the how & why does it work!! I find it fascinating!

My first today. I felt hunger but definitely got fuller quicker.

I am hungry now but I am in bed watching TV and I’ve brushed my teeth so I will just wait til the morning.

The food noise is less but still in the background.

Yes, I could not eat 5 x small meals a day at all. My personal preference is just 2 meals a day, but 3 is also ok.

The drug really slows the passage of food through the digestive tract, and eating often just loads more into my stomach before it has emptied which makes me feel uncomfortable and burpy (NOT sulphur burps, I have never had those, but I would guess they are also connected with food not passing through quickly and fermenting). I need time to properly digest.

So what suits me is eating a meal and nothing at all until the next meal. It also allows me time to get properly hungry in order to eat that next meal and to enjoy eating it and to stop eating when I have finished the meal. Personally for me that also normalises something that has been NOT normal about my eating habits and which is why I have come to Mounjaro in the first place.

Not eating leads me to feel tired, headachey and nauseous. Then I do not want to eat and I get more nauseous. It is a vicious cycle and it only feeds that always lurking monster that delights in the feeling of control that starving myself brings. I am not interested in living like that.

I’m the opposite, I have multiple small meals a day, I can’t really sit and eat a large meal. I guess the Meal size for many would be considered a snack by many, but I eat little and often and it seems to work for me.

example.

morning, a couple of hand fulls of dried fruit, prunes, figs, mango, cranberries etc,

lunch, a couple of thin slice of meat, like chicken, beef or ham, with a couple of table spoons of veg or salad,

mid afternoon somethjng similar,

dinner, a small portion of whatever my family is having.

late evening, some more fruit,

prob a 1000-1200 cals a day, and is working for me, my energy is regulated, I have no desire to eat unhealthy food, I have no side effects, like nausea or feeling over full at any time, and everything I eat is low fat/carb really

I didn’t set out to do it, but understand in hindsight it’s recommended and it works for me.

Slow loser here. I have been there with the zero appetite but it really comes and goes. I still get hungry quite often even though I’m max dose now.
I eat a lot of cottage cheese and soup and eggs. A boiled egg stash is very useful.
